Wow, this thread is making me want to not pick up the game and transfer the money I put down for it to SH:FTNW.

Haven -  You still haven't finished DDS2 yet?  I finished mine with 34 hrs on the clock.  I think you should be able to wrap it up pretty quickly.

Anyways, once again I am approaching the end of a game and once again I begin to lose interest.  I played some freeware adventure games last night.  I finished Cedric and the Revolution, a short and very fun game.  The puzzles are logical and there is no pixel hunting (yay).  It is very humorous too.  I recommend it to old school adventure game lovers.

I do intend to check out Beneath a Steel Sky.  I never played it when it originally came out and I've only heard good things about it.

Mmmm, Krispy Kreme doughnuts.  I love the Crullers but they are 240 calories each.  That's about half an hour on the eliptical machine.  T T

Fruits Basket I found cute as an anime, but I didn't like the ending. Too rushed, and done while the manga was still developing. Let me know how it progresses Nuri, I've been searching for a sensible opinion on it (which is rare supply these days thanks to all the Furuba fangirls).

I've been keeping up with the Fruits Basket manga here so I can give  you my opinion if you want it.  I am a fan of the series/manga but my love the series isn't anywhere near the obession displayed by people like the infamous Sepiroth fangirl.

Anyways, the first few volumes of the manga are very much like the series.  There are a few scenes/side stories like Tohru thinking back to when she was a child and was lost.  Apparently she met one of the Sohmas as a child.  Now after the first few volumes of the manga, the sequence of events in the series is different.  For instance the dramatic events with Kyo occurred before some of the lighter everyday stuff in the series.  I'll have to look at the books later (I'm a at work) to give you specifics if you want.  Also Shigure is portrayed as a carefree hentai in the series, but the manga hints at a darker side to him.  You can tell he's plotting something.  What remains to be seen though.  Also you are introduced to the remaining cursed members of the family.

Oh also the romantic pairing is becoming clearer.  It's leaning the way I want it to thankfully.

I never played the original so I'm quite curious to play the game that spawned so many games.  I already have it pre-ordered and paid for so I'll be picking it up later in the week, probably along with SH:FTNW.

Oh my I thought I was the only one looking forward to this.  I didn't list it since there seems to be a debate whether or not it will get released here.  Some people think it's been canceled.  I know the fan had a preview of the game but I haven't heard anything about it since from here or other media sources.  I can't even find it on Natsume's website.  I would really like the "kissing" game to come here since I'm a big fan of the quirky titles.

ToL:   Grune's quest - I think I'm about to beat the game.  I fought the six battles in a row and then the really hard duo after that.  I had to replay that last battle 4 times because I kept dying.  Unfortunately you can't switch out party members so I had to stick with the members I kept dying with.  I decided to switch tactics and have Senel go on auto mode and I kept giving Norma orders to heal.  I used up half of my life bottles and several miracle and lemon gels.  I really needed a save pt and was afraid to venture forward so I went back to town to stock up on things.  I did the battle arena with Senel and Chloe and got some cool stuff.  I keep getting my ass kicked in the special single fight.    I guess I should attempt fighting with the advanced level single fights with the other characters to get items and titles.  I also went and customized a whole bunch of stuff that I didn't even realize was there.  I'll probably finish this one soon.

ToL:  Started Grune's quest.

I almost got my assed kicked at the alter of the sea.  I used a handful of life bottles on that fight.
834  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Contact on: March 03, 2006, 12:53:52 PM
Wooo!  Atlus is localizing Contact for the DS.  It's by the makers of Killer 7.  In related news  Atlus is also localizing Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation for the GBA.  Anyways, back to Contact:

Here is a link to IGN's little write up and some pictures.  http://ds.ign.com/objects/761/761628.html

For those of you too lazy to click the link here is what is written there:

Quote
A fantasy RPG for the DS. The story of Contact begins when an elderly professor, making use of a strange item called "element," crash lands his space ship on a strange planet, and with the elements now scattered across the planet, he can no longer get his ship off the ground. So, the professor enlists the help of a young local boy called Cherry in collecting the elements, as helping the professor is the only way that Cherry will be able to get home.

Cherry can stick multiple seals to himself, resulting in added powers. Seals can also be used to attack enemies who get in the way of your travels. Come across an elemental, and you'll want to use a seal to suck it up. Also, a costume system earns Cherry new skills with seven outfits (a fisherman, a cook, a pilot, etc.) along the way. Cherry also has magic and weapon-based skills which you also gather as you work through the game.

Here is the official press release:

835  The Rest / General Discussions / I hate people like this on: March 03, 2006, 12:13:54 PM
I like Japan quite a bit, but I don't worship the place.  I do like showing off the stuff I get from there since it takes years for America to get those things (I'm talking small stuff like pens etc.)  So yeah, I do envy them to a certain extent since they get cooler things sooner.

I also find myself routing for them secondary to America in things like the Olympics.  Of course I am Japanese-American and I lived there when I was 5 so that's why.

Oh I've dated a guy who was/maybe still is into anime and rpgs.  He often said he wished he was Japanese.  I have a feeling that one of the big reasons he dated me was because I am Japanese-American.  I can't confirm that, but it has made me wary in dating pro-Japan folks.
836  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Silent Hill - The Movie on: March 03, 2006, 12:03:35 PM
I'll end up going, depending on the reviews.  If I don't see it in the movie theaters then I'll see it on dvd.

The trailers look very promising.  It also has Sean Bean whom I adore.  But I don't want to get my hopes up.  I've been disappointed many a time by video game to movie adaptations.

Oh and I've played SH2 and got the soundtrack to SH3.

ToL:  Still on Jay's quest.
Code:
I got to the part where he betrays the party and kidnaps Shirley.  It's awful seeing him beat up by Solon like that.  I find that to be very disturbing yet I don't bat an eye during the game battles.  Anyways, Shirley and Jay are back in the group.

I also saw on a show about home remedies, that if you put your first urine of the day on your face, it will help get rid of acne.  Needless to say, I've never tried it so I don't know if it is true.

Oh yeah.  That man has problems.
839  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Favorite Anime on: March 02, 2006, 10:53:26 PM
Unfortunately reading this thread has peaked my interest in some series.

So I must ask, is Twelve Kingdoms that good?  For those of you that have seen it, do you think it would be something I would like based on my post about my favorite anime series/movies?  I'm asking because I saw the dvd box sets selling for $60 a piece.  That's $120 for the whole series.  I've never seen one episode so I need to make sure I won't regret the investment.  The plot sounds a little like Escaflowne and to be honest I didn't like the series.  I didn't hate it, but it isn't something I would watch again.  Thanks in advance.
840  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Atelier Iris Grand Fantasm -- new game! on: March 02, 2006, 09:51:20 PM
Oooh.  Is this the game that Logick mentioned getting a postcard of?

Anyways, I hope it isn't a PSP game too.  Lately I've been deleting NIS's emails I get since all they talk about are PSP games and plushies.

I'm waiting to hear more info on Atelier Iris 2 and Ar Tornelico.
