And Blace busts out his Limit Break - the "opinion" card.

I could say that in my opinion, McDonalds is a fine restaurant and serves nothing but the highest quality food, and it is the paragon of health and nutrition.  I'd also be completely wrong.  BUT HAY, THAT'S OK, IT'S MY OPINION RITE? =^.^=

So, uhhh, does anyone still care? Famitsu gave it a 7/7/8/7 according to this Neogaf post, and while they're scores I wouldn't worry too much over normally Famitsu tends to be VERY nice with their scores. Also saying it's 'just like any other Level 5 RPG' pretty much kills what interest I had.
And like Losfer mentioned, Famitsu gave that steaming load of dog shit The Last Remnant a 38.

Cuz you've played the game...

Nah, but I've seen videos of it, videos that make animation flip-books - the ones elementary school students make in art class - look silky smooth in comparison.  That's more than enough for me.  Keep on deluding yourself that it's a quality title, though. :)

7/7/8/7 is only a few points lower than their scores for Persona 3 and Persona 4.  And like Losfer mentioned, Famitsu gave that steaming load of dog shit The Last Remnant a 38.

I'm starting to think that the best way to translate Famitsu scores is to think 30 is the absolute best, and the farther a score deviates from 30, the worse the game is.  So, a 40/40 Famitsu game is, in all probability, equally shitty as a 20/40 one.

Some more lolAF2:

35  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Breath of Fire fans, got some bad news. on: December 22, 2008, 06:55:43 PM
Loved 1.  Loved 2 even more.  3-5, however, paled in comparison to the original two, imo.  So, I'm not particularly saddened by this announcement.

Will Final Fantasy 13 redefine Japanese RPGs again?

No.
QFT. Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 have already done it.

Double QFT.

in this day and age do pld's still go all out on defense? or can they go for a more offensive build? thats really what kept me away from the job.

Haste.  Lowers Utsusemi: Ichi and Utsusemi: Ni recast timers on PLD/NIN, so in most situations, Endgame PLDs wear Homam Hands/Legs/Feet, Walmart Turban, etc. for the Fast Cast and Haste.  Blood tanking is a thing of the past.

Aftermath is freakin' lame.

Mythic Weapons shall henceforth be known as lolMythics.
39  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Suggestions for American RPG's? on: December 17, 2008, 01:00:10 AM
Diablo, Diablo II, and Mass Effect are the only American RPGs I have ever enjoyed.  So, I recommend those.

Menial complaint is menial. :P

I can't believe you found The Last Remnant tolerable, but are "angry" about dialogue options in Persona 4.
41  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Persona 4 on: December 16, 2008, 04:23:50 PM
I'm really starting to get angry at them giving me option in dialogue and then me not being able to do them because I don't have enough courage or something else. It feels to restricting. If you want me to have it as an option, then freaking let me do it. I haven't had enough time to build up other things besides leveling up and social links.

It's the same freakin' thing as Charm/Intimidate responses in Mass Effect... I don't see what the big deal is. :P

I can do that too!

43  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Remember when people who made games were aware of what made people enjoy games? on: December 10, 2008, 08:40:38 PM
Add another tl;dr to the pile.

Cosapi.  To a degree, I'll agree with you.  The game industry is in a slump, and 5 FPS technical messes like The Last Remnant are a perfect example of the problem.  But there ARE good games out there - Persona 4, for instance.  If you haven't picked up Persona 4 yet, I highly recommend that you do.  And if, for some reason, you don't like Persona 4, then... well, I think you need a new hobby.
44  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Shining Force Feather on: December 06, 2008, 12:07:39 PM
Anyway, stop being paranoid about the Shining force license.

No. :P

When people overlook flaws in a game, they're just deluding themselves to think that the game is better than it actually is.

Or they are just having fun...something you should always try to do when playing a videogame.

I expected a better argument out of you than that, Blace.

Since when are video games supposed to give us the sensation of "fun" by definition?  Is it because they are entertainment?  Books are entertainment... is The Grapes of Wrath a "fun" book?  Movies are entertainment... is The Green Mile a "fun" movie?  Music is entertainment... is "Hurt" by Johnny Cash a "fun" song?

People play video games for different reasons.  Some enjoy the "catharsis" of a profound moment in the story, some like the "challenge," and some just want to have "fun."  The last time I checked, technical issues (such as the aforementioned slowdown + texture pop-up) are an obstacle to all of the above "enjoyable aspects" of a video game, and thus, the gaming populace has less of your precious "fun" than they could have if SE did something simple like a BETA TEST.  So, once again, I ask: Why are you so adamantly defending the apathy and laziness of a large corporation?
