6 eps into House of Cards, and it's still fantastic. I can't help but think this is pretty darn representative of behind the scenes politics. Poor manipulated Russo.

I think the P.E teacher might be a British specific joke. Here ex-army personal who work in schools are 99% P.E teachers, hence his disbelief that he is a Maths teacher.

Yeah the reaction from Gaf on that joke was pretty lost (many jumping to it being a racist thing [physical activity = a black thing] than a 'soldier thing').

IIRC the 'soldier-hating' was just 'cause the Doctor doesn't like them or guns, right?

Ah...
Here in America, P.E teachers are old pedophiles.

(Fun fact, my primary school P.E teacher was arrested and jailed due to touching young boys)
(Following fact, I guess I wasn't his type)

Or lesbians, according to Clueless.  And my high school PE teacher.
... Either way, the PE joke is *still* terribly lost on us non-British aliens.

Ahhh, that explains it. I was thinking either soldier = dolt = p.e. teacher, or even the racist card as some others have, sadly, mentioned.
I'd still like a better explanation for the soldier business, because I don't recall that being such a big issue prior to this season.

Wow, you are sure forgiving of this season. I thought this past episode was pretty weak. I'm really getting tired of how the current Doctor is written. He's far too mean, and apparently clueless about humans, despite interacting with them for many many years. What's the deal with calling Pink a P.E. teacher over and over again? Why is this not explained? And why is he so anti-soldier?
I don't buy into the "He only wants the best for Clara" explanation. He might as well be walking around with a shotgun to scare away the creeps from his little girl.
I don't blame Capaldi, or even Jenna. They're doing the best they can with the shitty scripts they're being given.
I'd rather they expounded on what was going in in the intro to the episode, and gone from there. Now THAT could have been interesting.
Oh, I could keep going forever, but I'll just stop. I'm just so bummed at the direction the show has headed. A couple decent eps, and the rest mediocre, and less than.
This is the first season of Doctor Who my wife has ever watched. I suppose that might be to her advantage, as she has no basis for comparison.

Finished TWD Season 2, Ep1, and started up Ep2.
I don't know...I'm not really enjoying it much so far. Maybe I just don't feel like playing such a dark and dreary game right now.
I need to find something "lighter" and more fun.

I didn't realize there was such an anti U2 thing. I can't say I've bought any of their music in a LONG time, but they have created some pretty amazing songs. I wish they could tap back into whatever reservoir of talent that helped them create all their great early songs. Where the Streets have No name is truly one of the greatest songs ever. That guitar riff alone is worth it. Oddly enough it reminds me of the end credits music from Gates of Thunder. How's THAT for random? And totally geeky.

I actually thought it was pretty bad. The teaser promised us something that never really happened. I was expecting a creepy monster of the week episode, but we got something entirely not that
The story was all over the place, and made no sense.
There were a few good lines, and a few good moments, but the rest was just...ugh.
And I really wish the doctor would stop insulting Clara on her appearance! It's like a creepy old man trying to re-assure himself that he's not turned on by the hot young lady, when it's the exact opposite. It's mostly just mean, though, and serves no point in the story.
MaryAnns review explains pretty much how I saw this episode better than I can:

Started up TWD Season 2. It's alright so far, but I'm having the same problem with it that I had with Wolf Among Us. They seem to have gotten the idea that MORE action is needed in a non-action type of game. Were gamers asking for this? I don't play these games for the clunky action parts. Especially since I suck at them, and end up doing them over again multiple times. Not fun.

I watched the first episode of House of Cards last night. Man, I can tell this is going to be GOOD. Spacey is great, of course, but who really impressed me is Robin Wright. She's awesome. Such a strong presence.

Have you played The Last of Us yet? Great fucking story, short game, and easy difficulty to make your playthrough an experience rather than an endeavor.
Of course! Great game, but not easy for me, even on the easiest difficulty. That was ok, though, as I don't mind a bit of a challenge every now and then.

Perhaps Deus Ex: Human Revolution too.
It's heavily story based and I assume it would be fairly easy on "Tell Me A Story" difficulty.
Isn't that a first person game? I love the premise, but never gave it much thought because I suck at first person anything games.

I think I sort of know what you mean, as I like those games a lot too. You could try out Journey, Shadow of the Colossus and Ico if you want something easy and don't mind artsy stuff.
I loved all three of those games!

I'll look into some of the other games mentioned. Thanks!

*tries to bring some order back into the post*
I've been digging games like To the Moon, Gone Home, Dear Esrher, Brothers, TWD series, Wolf Among Us, Beyond: Two Souls, etc.
Story-based games with little to no "difficulty" to make me not enjoy myself. I like easy games. I like short games. I like a great story. Some killer tunes help as well.
I'm sure I'm missing other games out there like the above.
I played 999, and still need to pick up Virtue's last Reward, so there's that, but I'm not sure what else should be on my radar.
Any help? Thanks!

Is Capaldi the best Doctor of the new series run?

Yes. Yes he is.
WAY too soon for such a statement.
The new Doctor is so much (and I hate this trendy word) "darker" than Matt Smith's. He's almost mean. Incredibly cynical. It's like everything that has come before is finally making it's way out. Capaldi IS doing a great job with him so far.
I did like Robot of Sherwood. Fun episode.

Finished up season 4 of Breaking Bad the other night.
DAMN.
Code:
season 4 just blows season 3 out of the water. It's just so freakin' ridiculous. In a good way, I suppose. Totally intense the last few episodes. I still have problems with some of the idiotic actions of Walt and Jesse.
And why did they feel the need to show what happened to Gus in the end? That was just silly.
I wonder where 5 will go after this? There's loose strings, certainly, but we've gotten some solid resolutions this season.

So, I'll take a couple week break before starting up season 5.

If you have cable, you should have it, since it's on FX.
Amazon (instant video) has it too.
I rarely watch TV as it's broadcast. Unless FX has it On Demand? Either that or I have to pay for it per episode.

Yodes, that's a cool site. Looks like Fargo is 1.99 per ep on itunes. I hate the idea of paying more for TV than what I already pay Comcast and Netflix. I'll wait and see on this one.

If comedy isn't your jam, check out True Detective. I just started it and it's my bag.
Been there, done that. GREAT show.

I want to watch FARGO, but it's not on anything I own.

Damn tv got complicated in the last 5 years.

When you talk about a show you have to ask "what's it on?"

Exactly. How do I watch it?

Grimey? So I'm gross now? Wouldn't it be Grimy, or Grimmy? ;-)

I haven't fit in much more comedy. I've watched 4 eps of Louie, which I'm still not sure I even like. Some of the bits are simply not funny (like the lady who wanted to have sex with an "old" guy. That was just weird). I haven't watched any more Arrested beyond the first two, but I do plan to.
I've been watching Breaking Bad Season 4 mostly.
I'm looking forward to finding a new drama after BB, as I'm kind of sick of it. I have plenty of options for that, so no thread for you!
