Lone Survivor -
I kind of regret watching this, as it was not an easy watch.
I couldn't help but think, as the events unfold, that they never should have been there in the first place. I understand the mission, but it seemed ill--fated from the start.
I'm unsure as to what "true acts of courage" we are supposed to be seeing here. Petty much everyone on the planet is going to fight as hard as they can to stay alive.
It's a decently made movie, for sure, and the actors are all just fine. A simple story told simply. I'm just not sure how truly accurate what I saw was, as is always the case with "true" stories.

Short work week. Yay.
I managed to get all my outdoor lights/decorations up and ready to go. All blue and white LED. Winter theme. LED rocks for allowing so many more sets to be strung together than I ever could do before. Maybe I'll post a few pics after Thanksgiving when I light them all up.
I can't believe we'll already be getting a friggin' Christmas tree on Friday. Ugh. Time really does go by way too fast.
I'm already sick of the ads, and it 's so early yet!

I've only managed about 4 1/2 hrs of Inquisition so far, but I like it quite a bit. The game world is huge and beautiful, and fun to explore. I made it to the Hinterlands, and just wandered around that area tonight.
I LOVE the main title song, and just left it sit there for a bit before turning the game off.
I'm a tad intimidated by all possible things to be doing in this game.

Dragon Age: Inquisition - After dealing with updates for both my PS3, and the game itself, I was able to play for maybe 1 1/2 hrs.
Early impressions are very good. Beautiful game world, potentially good story and characters. The menu system is a bit clunky, but I'll get used to it.
The opening theme is great. It builds up slowly and quietly, transitioning into a powerful piece that I didn't want to stop listening to.

X-Men: Days of Future Past -

A time travel story that's actually easy to follow for a change.
This was definitely more "talky" and less "actiony" than your typical super hero movie, but I was ok with that. We still get plenty of action, but it feels like it's more build up than anything.
They continue to overuse characters like Mystique, Magneto, and Wolverine, but I can't say I mind watching Jennifer Lawrence running around in a skin tight suit for 2 hours.
The ending does a great job of erasing all that came before, which I'm not sure is a good thing.
I'm definitely looking forward to Apocalypse so where this is all headed.

Admittedly, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how my new AWD Crosstrek performs in the snow.
As a nature goober, I appreciate the snow for it's beauty, but also it's much needed insulating ability. I don't ever curse the snow. I DO curse idiot drivers who have no clue how to drive in it, though. I used to be a snow plow driver, and had to deal with all sorts of situations. I don't miss it.
The COLD is what really kills me. I have a condition that already has my body in a somewhat frail high alert status most days. Really cold weather makes it worse, and can almost be paralyzing at times. I wear as much as possible to stay warm.
I now have the cold that's been going around my office, despite valiant efforts to avoid it. Ugh.

Downloaded and played through A Bird Story last night. Took maybe an hour and 45 minutes. Honestly, it was kind of boring the first half hour. After that it was simply a cute story.
The music was good, but felt recycled from To The Moon.
I'm a little confused about one aspect of the whole thing:
Code:
What was the deal with all the shadow people? The boys imagination? Part of a dream? Just there to be spooky?

Assuming it shows up today, I'll start up Inquisition tonight.

My PS3 copy should be waiting for me in my mailbox when I get home.
I have done zero prep for this at all. Should I have? What the hell is this Keep thing I keep hearing about? A PC thing? Is there some online comic to read? What am I missing?
I should still have my save from DA:O, but I never played DA2.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned the comet landing yet:

This is exciting! And just plain cool. I'm amazed they pulled it off, even if there were a few hiccups.

The Longest Journey -
I'm digging it so far, but have already gotten stuck here and there. Gamefaqs is going to be my friend with this. After exhausting my brain first, of course.
Code:
Right now I'm supposed to be meeting Cortez in the theater, but haven't pieced it together yet. I obviously need to distract the cop, do something with the kerosene, and open the locked door. Just not sure how to do it all.
The CG scenes are kind of ugly, like DC had said. April looks awful in them. The rest of the game looks fine, though.

If that's the puzzle I'm thinking of, the actual solution is a lot stupider.

Also I'm assuming you got the key from the subway tracks already?

No, I haven't! I see it there, but haven't figured out how to get it.
Code:
I tried the rubber gloves, and every other inventory item. I imagine I'm missing something. I haven't figured out that big water pump contraption thing next to where April lives yet, either. I imagine i need to replace the clamp with something. And maybe use the clamp to get the key? Who knows.
See? I suck at these types of games.

Big Hero 6 -

We were supposed to see Interstellar today, but B(my son) didn't want to sit through such a long movie, so we went to this instead. I can't complain, as it ended up being a lot of fun.
The trailer really doesn't do the movie justice, which I kind of like. I was unprepared for all the geeky science love, for starters! This movie is a total love letter to science nerds/geeks, and is inspiring in it's use of it. We need more of that on screen, without judgement.
It's also surprisingly touching in it's very basic story. We're not seeing anything new in this regard, but it's done very well. I even felt it was a bit too close to movies like the How To Train Your Dragon films, Iron Giant, and numerous superhero fliks, but at least they "stole" from quality.
My only real problem is with the ultra tidy ending, which feels a bit too focus tested. I imagine the younger set not even thinking twice about it, though.

Reviews on gamerankings all seem to be for PS4, xbone or pc. I want to know how this runs on PS3! Regardless, I'm excited about all the positive press.

Interstellar? Big Hero 6?
Seeing Interstellar tomorrow with my son.
I'm surprised no one has commented on them yet.

Edge of Tomorrow (Live. Die. Repeat) -

This was fascinating to watch, and went a different way than I was expecting. It's a fun action movie, but it's not really even about that. It almost ends up being more of a mystery, as weird as it sounds.
Cruise plays totally against type, and it's weird to see. I like that the story never took him too far away from this, like so many "hero's journey" stories do.
The REAL bad ass here is Emily Blunts character, and she plays it perfectly cool. We didn't really learn enough about her, though, except how she got to be the icon that she is.
The movie was great all the way through until the ending, which I now accept, but am not completely sold on. Based on what came before, I expected something different.
Still, this is a great movie, and highly recommended.
