After seeing Thoren's video, I initially thought Dice's "Cooking With Dog" video would have dog as the ingredient.

But as much as we may go "eww" at some stuff, plenty of cultures have weird food.  Even in America.  Chitlins anyone?  It's basically deep fried pig rectum.

At least the rectum isn't beating.

rectum?!

Damn near killed em'!

...

bye...

I read the first two Temeraire books, and just started the third one. They are nowhere near as good as I was hoping they would be. The author really isn't a very good writer, and has severe pacing issues. I keep reading them because I love the premise and hope at least one of the books lives up to it.
After I finish book three, I'll be reading some Moorcock. Now THAT should be good stuff.

The wife and I went on Saturday.
A review I wrote On FB:
This is probably the best movie I've seen in the past couple years. Super high production values, great acting all around, and a damn creative premise. Based on early reviews I was concerned that it might be a bit of a mind bender, but it really wasn't that hard to follow. I am actually in awe that Nolan was able to pull this off so well. I had a few minor nitpicks, but nothing that really takes anything away from the movie. A brilliant film that everyone must see.

InFamous is pretty good so far. I've done numerous side missions and have opened up a good portion of the first area. I can see this getting redundant, but for now I'm enjoying it.

I just finished it for the first time. I choose to be a good guy but I'm definitely replaying it as a villain, the game is so much fun.
How many hours did it take you to beat it? It seems to be moving along fairly quickly.
I also have chosen to be good, but the bad side was tempting.

Holy shit, that looks amazing. Pure adrenaline. I hadn't even heard of this game before, but those videos totally sold me.

I'm with you guys on the new moves introduced in GoW3. L1+O was a blast. I actually liked having to switch between the different weapons to fight certain enemies. Made it so I didn't just use the Exile Blades the whole time. I was actually surprised how well they implemented the items, too. They were used more than I was expecting.
It probably would be hard to go back and play 1 & 2 without the same benefits.
I don''t know how anyone can play these games on the higher difficulty settings, though. I get slaughtered.

Wish I could play Chains of Olympus, but I have yet to own a psp. between that, the Ys games, and numerous other good games, I am WAY tempted to get one.

2108  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Age 2 on: July 09, 2010, 10:57:42 AM
I, for one, wouldn't mind if they went the action/rpg route. I actually thought the first one was going to be an arpg until right before it came out. Plus, ME2 is a damn fine pedigree. I liked the first one enough, but it did have it's problems. WAY too many items for one. It just got so confusing, and resulted in gobs of time spent micro-managing everything. Unlike some people, I do not like this.
I have no problem with a Dragon Effect game.
2109  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: There is no free lemonade on: July 08, 2010, 09:46:24 AM
Wow. I actually agree with Thoren on this one. It seemed to me that no one was getting the real point of the article. That the kids are giving away for free what was paid for by someone else. Yes, we CAN assume this, as I imagine most lemonade stands involve kids raiding the cupboards for whatever is available to sell.
I also agree with Nuri on the definition of charity. IMO, charity involves giving to those who can't do it for themselves. Otherwise, it's simply a nice thing to do for another person. Heck, most people stopping to buy the lemonade probably aren't even thirsty. They are the ones being charitable by humoring the enterprising children.
Most kids setting up a lemonade stand are not doing it out of the kindness of their little hearts. They want to make some money. I know I did when I was a kid.
All that being said, it was a bit of a stretch for her to get to the point of the article from the initial story.

The graphics only look OK to me. This could be done on a PS2 or Cube easily. Plus, it all looks decidedly brown.
Now the combat looks fun. Is this an action/rpg? Or more like FFXII?
Music sounds decent, but is that in the game or just a temp track?
Still, it;s nice to see a game like this on the Wii.
2111  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: There is no free lemonade on: July 07, 2010, 02:47:16 PM
Terry Savage is female.
I also partially agree with her. Whether the children know it or not, having a lemonade stand is an early lesson in economics. Giving it away for free, while a nice thing to do, simply makes no sense. People expect to pay SOMEthing. Children may not understand how valuable time alone is, but those buying(or trying to) certainly do.
Now, if this is just a one time thing, I wouldn't think anything of it. But if Mom/Dad/Nanny let her do this on a routine basis, she may be in for a rude awakening sooner rather than later.
So much should one pay for a cup of lemonade? .25? .5? 1.00? What is the going rate nowadays? I've only seen one in my neighborhood lately, and I haven't stopped because I don't like the kids doing it.

I decided to try out Infamous last night. I like the concept, and the freedom of being able to go pretty much anywhere. Playing around with the lightning powers is fun. I was having a hard time with the fighting, though. I do not do well with games without some type of lock on. Uncharted gave me the same trouble. The bad guys have no problem at all hitting me, while I struggle to move the stupid aimer thing back and forth to get it in the right spot to fire. Heaven forbid my intended target actually moves! I want to be able to tap R1 or something and have it lock on to the next available target. Make it an option so the "hardcore" nuts don't complain. It's just frustrating.
I'll keep playing, though, as I like the overall game so far.
2113  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: I have a PS3 (finally). Reccomend me stuff!!!!!! on: July 06, 2010, 11:39:39 AM
CDFN has mentioned in a few threads that Uncharted 2 is platinum. I checked Amazon and they are selling it for $44 or whatever. Platinum to me means $20-30. I figured it would drop to that range after a year. I loved the first one, and will play the second eventually.
Flower is fun for the +/- 4 hours it lasts.
Wipeout HD looks amazing and is fun to play in spurts. Way too hard for me, though.
Valkyria is as great as everyone says it is, but no one seems to mention how hard it is. The battles can get quite difficult pretty early on.
MGS4 is fun for awhile, then just gets so frickin' ridiculous.
2114  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: July 06, 2010, 10:56:16 AM
Beat God of War III last night. I didn't think I was that close to the end, but all of a sudden, there it was. I really enjoyed the game, but I think I liked II better. All the games have been fun, though.

I can now play either FFXIII or InFamous. I figure I'll play XIII for awhile, just to get that out of my system. Who knows? I might love it. Looking forward to playing InFamous, though.
2115  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: June 28, 2010, 08:55:27 AM
GoWIII - The Aphrodite scene was "amusing", especially with my wife watching next to me. She commented that the whole thing was pretty "sad" and obviously made by men without a proper "outlet", if you know what I mean. I don't remember the similar scenes from the first two.
after that:
Code:
The battle with Chronos was bizarre. I died numerous times during the different stages of it, before figuring out what to do. Still damn epic, though. Then I went back to the Smith guy, whooped his ass, and now have my bad ass electricity whips. Look forward to using them
I like how dying doesn't send you back too far. The checkpoints are almost too reasonable. Makes dying just a minor annoyance. Considering how often I die, this is a good thing.
