Zelda: TP - I'm nearing the end so I'll just code it all. I was playing through the Twilight castle thinking for some reason that I was in the last area. I completely forgot about Hyrule castle. So I beat Zant(once again, too easy) and am now in Hyrule Castle. Stopped playing right after I got there. Certainly can't complain about game length with this one. I think my clock said 70 hours or something last I checked. I still can't help but think how much better this whole experience would be with fantastic music playing in the background. Oh well.

Zelda: TP - Got the last 2 "Special moves" or whatever they are called. Played through 30-some levels of the cave of ordeals before croaking. I Could have gone further if I had used the fairy bottle in my inventory. Oops. I don't think I'll bother trying again. I just I need a bit more $ so I can buy the magic armor. I'm not sure if I'll even use it, but I just HAVE to have it.

I love the MP games, and will gladly buy this one...if I had a Wii. I've been planning on getting one, but have had plenty other games to play. Figured I would hold out til Christmas and buy it for the Fam then. Funny thing about the MP games is that I totally suck at them. Too hard for me. I think I barely made it halfway through both 1 and 2. I play them anyway because they represent EXACTLY what I am looking for in video games. A mature feel. Beautiful graphics and environments, and great music(especially the first one). I will buy 3 as soon as I get a Wii.

Zelda: TP - OK, so the boss of the Sky City WAS pretty bad ass. Took me numerous times falling down to figure out how to do it right. MUCH better than any of the other boss battles. I'm not sure I want to head towards the end yet. Maybe I'll tackle the Cave of Ordeals, or get me some magic armor. Mess around with some mini games.

Zelda: TP - I am in the Sky City. Just got the Big Key and will be heading off to fight the dungeon boss. I am a bit let down by this area. I had heard it was really cool. I like the dungeon itself. The design is great, and its quite large. I would have preferred "cooler" residents up here, though. Those freakish man-birds give me the heebie-jeebies. I had hoped that some cool music might show up, but we have some pretty mellow stuff playing. I hope the boss is cool. EVERY boss so far has been too easy, and not even all that impressive. Coming from me(A guy who likes his games EASY) thats pretty lame.
Picked up Tales of the Abyss. I'll start that up when I finish Zelda.

This is serious? Sounds like something out of the Onion. The government seems to be giving the idea of reincarnation some legitimacy by trying to control it. Considering the whole idea of reincarnation is ludicrous, let alone being able to have control over it even if it were possible, I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. Bizarre.

I saw 300 over the weekend. Man, is this movie ever overrated. I loved the visuals, but that was about it. I felt NOTHING for any of the characters or their plight. The whole thing seemed like an excuse for a bloodbath. Very sterile. No emotional impact whatsoever. I didn't hate the movie. Gerard Butler was quite good as King Leonidas. I couldn't name a single other character, though. Well, besides Xerxes, who was just...disturbing.

I don't usually participate in stuff like this, but I don't feel like working so...
For me, it is very difficult to rank the FF games. I never played 2,3,V, and XI. I never beat VIII. Every one I did play and beat, I enjoyed thoroughly at the time of playing it. There is no "worst" for me, only a ranking of how much more I enjoyed one over the others.
VI - This game was almost absolute perfection. graphics, music, story, villain. I was just bothered a bit by the lack of individuality with the esper/magic system(or whatever it was called)
IV - When I think of FF music, this is the game that comes to mind. I can hum all sorts of music from this game. I suppose nostalgia takes over when it comes to this game, but it will always be one of my fav rpgs. I still want to play one of the more recent "remakes" but am unsure as to which one to play. any suggestions?
X - I ended up liking this game quite a bit. Loved the battle system. Amazing setting. Tidus was a dork, but I like how he evolved over the course of the game.
XII - I think I ended up putting 110 hrs into this game. Too damn long, but I really liked it. The characters were good, but the story was really weak. Music was very mood setting, but not particularly memorable. Basch rules.
VII - I enjoyed it quite a bit, but was terribly confused by the story(this is not difficult to do, btw). I recall stopping when I got to the final dungeon, then going back almost a year later and finishing it. Didn't like the materia system much.
IX - I really had fun with this game, but it was just wasn't all that memorable. Plus, the final boss was just stupid(not Kuja)

I just finished it Monday night. I felt the book started out OK, slumped for a couple hundred pages of monotony, then picked back up at the end. I also am skimming back through it before setting it aside. A few things still bother me: The confrontation in the forest. How did they both survive it? Was it because Harry was a Horcrux? Or something silly like "love conquers all"? In my perusal of HP discussions no one seems to be discussing this part. As I read it, I figured that the squirming baby thing was what was left of Voldy. When the scene was over and they were both still alive, I was a bit confused. The best explanation is that it was the part of Voldy that was in harry(horcrux).
The whole elder wand bit was awfully contrived and convoluted. Took me a a few reads before I understood it.
Neville pulling the sword out of the sorting hat and killing the snake. Why would Voldy use the sorting hat anyway? Just so JK can have Neville pull the sword out? Doesn't make sense. I still like Neville, though. His moment should have been killing Bellatrix. speaking of...
The Mrs. Weasley bit was just stupid. Pure hollywood nonsense that seems entirely out of place in this very british book. I was OK with her entering the fray. Just not in the manner she did.
Lupin and Tonks. Dead. WTF? I had zero emotional impact from this because it was handled in such a casual manner. It almost seemed like an afterthought.
I did like how Harry used the resurrection stone. I think that "scene" got to me more than anything else in the book.
Everybody figured Snape was "good", and we were all rewarded. I loved reading that chapter about him. I still don't think he had a good excuse for treating Harry the way he did. Shouldn't it have been the reverse? And why was he so accepting of Malfoy, a consistent bully?
I did not like the epilogue. I would have preferred none at all over that. Or at least a bit more info about whats going on in the wizarding world and how it affected everyone.
All in all, and despite all my comments above, I DID enjoy the book. I am also a little bummed that its all over. Oh well, back to what I was reading before this madness overtook me(Thomas Covenant series)

yeah, but it was pretty lame in the book, too. I rather enjoyed the movie. It was probably the "darkest" of the potter flicks and I felt it was better for it. They excluded a bunch of the silly stuff from the books. Especially during the last sequence. Good call on the screen adapters part. I look forward to seeing what this director does with Half Blood Prince.
Took the fam to see Ratatouille a couple weeks back. Good movie, but I wouldn't rank it higher than Incredibles or Iron Giant (Brad Birds other movies), let alone the best pixar stuff. They did everything they could with a boring subject. I'm not even sure I'd call it a kids movie. Visually maybe, but the subject matter was way over a kids little head. Great scene towards the end with the critic.

I was on vacation last week, so I didn't get to play Zelda much. I am running around the overworld after finishing the Snowpeak Ruins. Once again, the boss was too damn easy. This seems to be a trend with this game. It's bothering me, even though I normally like my games easier.

Wow, listen to DC rippin' Xeno(and Mitsuda) a new one. I thought Xenosaga had pretty good music when it had actually had any. I agree with you on the two vocal songs. They are terrible. BUT don't you dare blame Joanne Hogg. She has a great voice. Small Two of Pieces from Xenogears is probably the best videogame vocal ever(whatever thats worth). Plus I've heard some of her other work. She's good. Anyway... Zelda: TP - finished the "sand" temple or whatever it was called. Once again, the boss was too easy. I want at least a little bit of a challenge. Plus the whole riding around on the spinner thing was kinda lame yup

Zelda :TP - I finished the water temple. It was surprisingly easy. Based on past water dungeons I was expecting this to be a bit of a challenge, but I didn't really have any trouble with it. Boss was too easy as well. Well designed, though, as always. Still think I would have liked some cool music to go with it. There were some pretty cool story sequences, too. I'm definitely enjoying the "tone" of this game. A nice change of pace for Zelda. Now I'm....doing whatever comes next....yup.

Zelda: TP - I am now in the water temple. This dungeon just reiterates a problem I'm having with this game. NO music! What is the deal with the dungeons and the lack of music? Sure, I get the environment sounds and all that, but I really miss having good music playing while taking on these dungeons. Are they all like this, or do I eventually get some decent tuneage out of this game? Regardless, I am enjoying it. I'm digging the story sequences quite a bit.

I haven't read a game magazine for a LONG time. Game Fan was great though. It had this aura about it that other mags couldn't match. paper quality? picture quality? writing? Whatever it was, it worked for me. I had a subscription to EGM for years. Ultra Game Players was the BEST. Funny as hell, too. Sad to see that one go.
