2191  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What you like/hate in the opposite sex!! on: June 22, 2010, 12:06:53 PM
speaking of accents....
This here is a FINE example of what I like in the opposite sex:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?aid=99757&id=105528145968&ref=pb
A tad too skinny, but I think I could deal with that.

On the whole, I like dark-haired, curvy girls with or without glasses(but they are preferred). When I say curvy I don't mean skinny girls who think they have curves because they barely eat and their bones stick out. I've heard numerous guys refer to Jessica Alba as curvy. Um, NO. She's skinny  I mean a full -figured woman. Not out of shape or anything, but plenty to hold on to. A fine booty is a must. I guess you could say I like the Kim Kardashian(sp?) type body, but with someone else in it. I also prefer a girl without a tan. I like pale skin. Fake tans(or even real ones) totally turn me off.
Physical traits aside, I want someone I can talk to. After we see a movie, I want to discuss it, not just move right on to dinner without another word.
I'm big on nature, so a girl has to like to bike and hike(that sounded weird), and tolerate my gardening addiction.
Now some not so PC honesty. I like a woman who cooks and cleans, and a lot of those other old-fashioned things. I'm not a big fan of cooking, so she has to be able to bake some bread and make a kick ass dinner.
I'm a bit of a cleaning freak, so I can take care of that, but a girl who is a slob is a total turnoff.
If I see a woman wearing a sports jersey I run away as fast as I can. Women + sports = yick. I have no problem with her actually DOING sports. But if all she wants to do is watch the Cubs or the Bears, I'm am so outta there.
Finallly, no religion. pretty self-explanatory.

I've been married to a woman who embodies most of these traits for over 11 years now. She was a friend of a friend. The first time I met her I was playing Mario Kart with a buddy in my parents basement. She said she loved Mario Kart. Total love connection. Actually, it took several dates and a lot of talking, but we clicked.
I'm pretty sure there's a few other people around here with "success" stories, if you want to call it that. I'm not the only married one. I know Pat(Ramza) is married and has kids.

2192  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Bowsers Inside Story help on: June 21, 2010, 08:54:16 PM
my kid has been playing Bowser's Inside Story and is stuck at some boss called Junker. I checked Gamefaqs and other sources, but couldn't find anything helpful for him. Anyone who's played the game and can offer him any tips?  His characters are lvl 18/19. That's all I know.
Perhaps I should post this in Helper Monkey...

Isn't your kid a little young for videogames?

I was beating Super Mario Bros 3 at five.
He's 9 years old. I was playing games way younger than that.

Wow, That was a fun read. Thanks!

Playing God of War III. I just found the flame of Olympus and am now supposed to find Pandora or something. Then there's that freak Hermes bugging me. Can't wait to twist HIS head off.

Who would it be? They are so superior to real girls its ridiculous...

and no KOSMOS doesn't count as a girl you freaks

Wow. So I take it you've never been with a real girl? Or just have had a lot of issues with them?

Make fun of the topic, but I think it's fine to play along just for fun.
I'm with Ramza on the dark-haired girls.
I liked Sheena from Tales of Symphonia. Voiced by the great Jennifer Hale.
Then there's the ridiculous hotness of Naomi from MGS4, also voiced by Hale. I sense a theme here...
Like Dincrest, I also had a thing for Nei from PS2. Poor Nei.

Mass Effect 2  - finished the game last night. I had a great time with it, and totally can't wait for part 3.
I'd like to play it over as the female Shepard with a different specialty, but I've got other games to play. This one took me a little over 50 hours, compared to the originals 36. Better game, though. Much more fun to play, if a tad repetitive.
God of War 3 is next.
2198  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: June 04, 2010, 10:11:47 AM
Mess Effect 2 - So I got me some Miranda action. Scenes like that are so cheesy in vid games. I'm sure someone will get it right eventually(or just leave it alone), but for now they're just comedy.
I am now in what I believe to be the final area:
Code:
No one has died yet, and I'm actually surprised by that. I'm about to attack the collector base(saved right at the start), so I imagine that will change. I chose Tali as the specialist because I don't like her, and I figure the character in that position is the most likely to bite it.
Can't wait to see how this all turns out.
2199  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: So, BP is cool. on: June 01, 2010, 03:27:52 PM
I've said this in other posts about this topic(not here), but I remain baffled. Why is there not a shut off valve somewhere on the line just in case something like this happens? Because they didn't want to spend the money on it? Baffles me.
2200  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: June 01, 2010, 02:39:03 PM
Mass Effect 2 - I think I'm pretty much at the end:
Code:
Recruited the Geth dude and did his loyalty quest. Had my ship wiped by the reaper IFF virus. Not cool. Now I'm just finishing sidequests before doing the suicide mission
The scanning became infinitely more tolerable after the update. I've got 100% on every system on the galaxy map. You'd think there would be an achievement for that. Maybe there's another area I'm missing.
2201  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: I just don't like handhelds... on: May 28, 2010, 12:19:06 PM

But if I can hook it up to my tv somehow, we may be in business. How is this done?
It's done through component/composite cables you can buy for the 2000 and 3000 versions of the system, which you plug into at the headphone jack. I believe you need an HDTV to play them, but I swear I've seen people mention running games on SDTVs over composite at some point.
I've got 2 HDtvs, so I'm good there. Hmmm
2202  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: I just don't like handhelds... on: May 28, 2010, 10:32:42 AM
I completely agree with the OP. I have a DS but never play it. I don't have a PSP, but want to get one because of all the amazing games coming out for it. But I KNOW I won't use it, so I don't bother. But if I can hook it up to my tv somehow, we may be in business. How is this done? Through the PS3? I'm totally getting one if I can play the games like normal console ones. Makes me wonder why I need the PSP itself. Too bad I can't just get the games and play the through the PS3 somehow.
2203  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Mass Effect 2 on: May 28, 2010, 10:21:55 AM
I'm actually still playing it. I'm 46 hours in and close to the end(as far as I can tell). Even after the upgrade the planet scanning is still pretty damn annoying. I haven't hooked my system up to the interwebnet in a few weeks, so if there's an update I haven't gotten it yet. Perhaps I'll do that tonight.
I'm playing as a vanguard, and yes, the charge is awesome. Especially the powered up versions.
2204  Media / The Soundroom / Re: Best FF recording evar? on: May 20, 2010, 10:49:54 AM
I'm still pissed that I didn't go to the concert when they were in town. I've been meaning to look up what was available. Had no idea there were two already.
Jenova is such a kick ass tune in it's original form that I hesitate to listen to remixes. I love piano arrangements, though, and that's pretty good, PM.
2205  Media / Brush and Quill / Re: Fantasy Sucks on: May 19, 2010, 04:04:43 PM
George Martin seems to be the only heavy hitter that currently has a series going that is worth a damn, and he's taking his SWEET TIME

I just really wanted to point out how hilarious this is:  a year and a half later, and absolutely nothing has changed. :P

The last Ice and Fire book that featured the entire cast was A Storm of Swords.  I think it came out in 2000.  In that time, I've graduated from college...three times. :P

I know, right? It's so infuriating because I love his work, and I'm excited for the HBO series, but....COME ON.

When a Feast for Crows came out....I hadnt even met Evelyn yet. Here I am getting married to her next year. I swear to God, if the next book isnt out by the time I have a ring on my finger, he's totally getting a horse head delivered.

Oh and I totally just reread this entire thread (why does that sound and read so weird?) and none of us mentioned The Name of the Wind. If you havent read it yet, give it a shot. It's pretty damned good. And thankfully Pat Rothfuss has at least given us a solid time frame on the next book. It's somethin at least!

Have you guys read his blog? He actually talks about how difficult it is to write and re-write chapters, and get everything in sync. He also yaps about all sorts of other crap(aka football) that I don't care about, so I don't check it all that often. He seems to spend far too much time traveling and working on other projects. The man needs to focus!

As for my reading...
I just finished the fantastic Gap series by Donaldson and am now reading the first Temeraire book.
