I was running around killing Liquid Metal and King Metal Slimes for about four hours last night.

You say this like it's an easy thing to do. I think I was only able to kill a couple liquids, and the few Kings I ran into took off right away.
I chuckled when you wrote how you were tired of the game after a couple weeks(maybe?). Play it for 96 hours over 5 months and come back to me.

Anyway...
I am still playing God of War. Doing Posiedons challenge now. This game is bad ass.

Playing God of War. I'm enjoying the simplicity of it all. Every now and then you need a "Beat the shit out of everything and anything" game. This is very well done. I am saved on the rooftops of Athens.
I bought Nan Parappa the Rapper after listening to her complain about not owning for quite a while. That game looks damn pixelly(word?) now, but she likes it well enough. You gotta believe!
2223  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Fall/Winter 2006 RPGs - Are you ready? on: June 09, 2006, 11:36:11 AM
I'm just looking forward to a few.
FFXII - I DID like the demo, and look forward to another great story.
Rogue Galaxy - simply due to the premise, and the fact that Level 5 made it.
I don't want to hear comparisons to RPGS, I want to know how it compares to Dark Cloud 2? I LOVED DC2.
Xenosaga III - I never played II, due to so much bad press, but I really liked I. Hopefully III will be  a return to goodness.
Tales of the Abyss - If it's anything like TOS, I'm there.
PSU - only if the single player is good. I don't do the online thing.
Then theres Zelda, of course.

DQVIII - played almost 3 hours last night. Clock is now just over 93 hours.
Code:
Played through the black citadel. beat Rap, then Ruin. Now I've gotta find a bunch of orbs. This game doesn't know when to end.

I'm not as enamored with the game as some people around here.
Too damn long. Music is ok in the beginning, but gets tiresome when you hear the same track in every freaking town and dungeon.
Jimmy, I'm not sure about spears as I started out using boomerangs, then wisely switched over to swords.
Jessicas Sex Appeal is a good thing to juice up. The last thing she gets is pretty damn good.

EDIT: DQ VIII is complete. final time was 95:33. This was without doing any real amount of sidequests or messing around with much of anything. I'm a slow player who played a long game.
I'm pretty happy with the ending, but also a bit melancholy. I've been playing this game since Christmas! I'm going to miss it.
Code:
Finding the orbs was pretty easy and not very time consuming, so I can't complain. I found Rapthorne to be pretty easy. Hero and Yangus attack while Jess and Angelo heal. repeat a zillion times = Rapthorne dead.
I liked the typical adventure type ending where the beautiful princess runs away with the vagabond. Medea is one hot piece of.....polygons?

Good, not great, game.
I picked up God of War, so that is next.
Suiko V is my next RPG.

Waking Life - bizarre movie, if you want to call it that. At first I was turned off by the funky animation and obvious lack of a story, but by the end I was liking it a bit. Kinda pretentious and preachy, but interesting none the less.

Finished Neverwhere and have started reading The Real Story by Stephen Donaldson. First book in some long sci-fi series a co-worker of mine let me borrow.

But when the day comes that I tie the knot, I'm afraid the lady is going to put me in my place when it comes to video games. :P

Good thing my wife likes games as much as I do, huh?
Being 31, married, with a 5 year old son, I definitely do not have as  much time to play as I used to. I actually thought my current systems would be the last ones I buy, but some of the new games are just looking too damn good. I figure as long as I have the interest, and the desire for the escape that gaming brings, I will continue to play them.
As Always, DC brings up a good point. There's no way I'm playing another epic rpg after the marathon that is DQVIII. I'm gonna be getting back into RE 4 and probably picking up God of War. THEN I'll be able to enjoy Suiko V.

Damn I missed Chris with Live.  What song did he sing?

I actually didn't recognize the song. Something new from Live, perhaps?

DQVIII - clock is around 87 hours. I played Dark Cloud 2 for 87 hours. That was my highest game time ever. Not sure this is a good thing.
I beat the flying dog and Marcello last night. I am surprised at how easy both of these bosses were.
Seems I'm almost done with this thing.
Anyone wanna chime in with what level you were when heading to the final area? my hero is currently lvl 39. I'm thinking of getting him to 40, then going for it.

Yeah, I liked seeing Chris perform with Live.
The last two songs for Taylor and Kat SUCKED big time. Couple of the worst songs I've ever heard.
I'm cool with taylor winning. Definietly not the best singer, but he WAS the best entertainer.
I'm amazed at how hard the judges were on Kat, when she is better than 99% of the crap on the radio nowadays.
Hopefully this isn't the last we see of her. Too damn gorgeous to just fade into obscurity.

Watched Serenity last night. GREAT movie.
Sad that I am now have no more Firefly stuff to watch.
Time to find something new.

Watch it again!

:P

Ya know what I never do? Watch things more than once. With 10 millionbajillion movies, books, games, etc. to watch, read, and play out there, I would rather try something new than revisit the past. This is why I rarely buy dvds. I hardly have time for one viewing, let alone multiple.
Add in the fact that I spend more time outdoors than in this time year, and....
well, you get the picture.

I remember Druff, too. Dan Druff, I think. I remember you from some other boards, too.
Anyway...
I think playing Bards tale with my older brother on his commodore 64 might count.
Or how about that one adventure-like game on the Odyssey?
Vic 20, anyone?
What system was Adventure on?
Damn, I'm getting old.
I could just pretend that Phantasy Star or Dragon Warrior was first.

I liked Secret of Evermore, also. Wasn't it made in America or something? I think that was the reason it wasn't well received.

Hell, I even liked FF: Mystic Quest. Mostly for the great soundtrack, though.

I agree with Lucca about Vay. Liked it alot.

Yes, I am still playing DQVIII. Somewhere over 80 hours now. I am in some  town called tyran gully or something. place where monsters and people live in harmony and all that. I went to slime land to get me some metal slimes, but it's just so frustrating. The constant running away drives me bonkers. I'm not sure it's even worth it when you finally kill one or two. Fuck it, I'm just moving on.
