But who is REALLY the invader?  Our homes are not natural structures.  Maybe...just MAYBE, we invaded first, and this is there way of saying a big FUCK YOU to all of us and fighting back.

This is actually the correct answer.

Insects kick ass. Spiders especially kick ass. They eat all the other annoying ones like flys and mosquitoes. If one comes in the house I try to find a way to get it out without killing it.
If worthless things like flies, earwigs, etc. come around they get squished. No guilt.

Limbo - I've played for maybe 4 hours now and it seems like I'm almost through it. We've got some serious Mode 7 stuff going on here. Funny thing is...This game almost could have been done on the SNES. Not the details, of course, but the overall game is very simple. I dig it.
2223  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Does anyone actually like random battles? on: July 29, 2010, 02:00:50 PM
What she said.
I was ok with them when that was the only option. It's been awhile since I've played a game with random battles, and I'm not sure I could stomach them anymore. Heck, I barely have time to play rpgs, let alone worry about bumping into invisible enemies.

Yeah, Dice, if you could NOT talk about the ending, that would be grrreeeaaat. I know what you said doesn't reveal much, but this game is all subtleties. Mild spoiler tags at least.
I think I'm 2/3rds of the way through or so. Some of these puzzles have been tough to figure out. I've already died TONS of times. Great game so far.

You honestly can't see the problem with calling homosexuality wrong? It's oppression by condemnation. Let me ask you this, would it be acceptable if I used your line of thinking to call out interracial relationships? Segregation? Hate doesn't have to be aggressive or vitriolic to be hate. You're seeing an inherent part of someones identity as wrong.
Aren't you kinda doing the same thing? You're condemning her for her religious views, which I would argue are just as much a part of her identity.... Just sayin'
I had no intention of getting involved in this but...
Religion is a choice (at least when you get older and can make decisions for your self)
homosexuality is not.

Kudos to everyone for salvaging what could have been the quickest locked thread in RPGFan history.
I believe the health benefits of wine come from the grapes. Red wine in specific.
A quick googly search netted lots of results:

I'm with Kevadu on pairing wines/beers with food. A good red wine plus steak = delicious.

I am! I was checking gamerankings like I always do and saw this game called Limbo on top. I never heard of it, but checked a few reviews. I was totally sold and dled it over the weekend. The game has a very distinct graphic style and feel. Kinda morbid, really. Some of the puzzles are very clever, and I feel good when I solve them. The sound is sparse, but effective, and works better with headphones on.

The wife and I share a bottle of wine on Saturday night. Two glasses of wine = tipsy, but far from drunk. I have never had any interest in taking it any further. Even when I was younger I never hung out with people who drank much. We had all sorts of fun without it.

If you can't party without alcohol, you don't know how to party.

Ok, so I guess no one has an opinion on Mad World?
Played some more Infamous. Starting to get a bit redundant. Plus I can't stand how the reapers can somehow hit me from several buildings over, but I have to get real close to even have a chance at hitting them.
I downloaded Limbo after reading a few reviews. I love the look of the game, and the very simple, but addicting, gameplay. Feels very old school. Good stuff.

Still playing Infamous. Still enjoying it, although some of the missions can be pretty tough. I'm also addicted to finding blast shards.
I'm starting to get excited for Metroid: Other M. Little more than a month away(8/31). Please don't suck.
My son really wants Super Mario Galaxy 2, so I told him to save up his chore money to buy it. Last night I ordered it off of Amazon for 41.40. Not bad. I was looking at other Wii games and saw that they had new copies of Mad World for $6.90. I decided just to go ahead and buy it for that price. Anyone around here play the game? Sounds like fun.

2231  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Food! on: July 20, 2010, 10:06:54 AM
I'm glad this topic exists.  Now I can detour people here on the next topic I make - just in case. :)

I have a horrible food sense... I enjoy plain.  Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza... fuck off, Pineapple!  You are not wanted!!!
I'm with you here. Either it's pepperoni pizza or GTFO. I've tried the whole pineapple/ham thing before, and it wasn't horrible. But why would you do that to a pizza when there's plenty of pepperoni to go around?

It's funny, when I was a kid my Gran would use an ice cream scoop on the mashed potatoes, and you would get little mounds of mashed potato. Now I do that myself, I can't enjoy them unless they are like ice cream scoops.

I have it the same way. To be honest I was not aware there was another way. I cannot imagine eating it when it is just mush. You need to get your fork and cut one of the scoops in half before eating them.
I've been to restaurants where they "ice-cream scoop" the potatoes and I find it odd. Somehow, it makes them taste not as good. My wife makes awesome smashed up potatoes, but I might have to pass on them if she busts out the ice cream scooper. Mental block.

After seeing Thoren's video, I initially thought Dice's "Cooking With Dog" video would have dog as the ingredient.

But as much as we may go "eww" at some stuff, plenty of cultures have weird food.  Even in America.  Chitlins anyone?  It's basically deep fried pig rectum.

At least the rectum isn't beating.

Damn near killed em'!

2233  Media / Brush and Quill / Re: Book Thread Continued on: July 20, 2010, 09:44:52 AM
I read the first two Temeraire books, and just started the third one. They are nowhere near as good as I was hoping they would be. The author really isn't a very good writer, and has severe pacing issues. I keep reading them because I love the premise and hope at least one of the books lives up to it.
After I finish book three, I'll be reading some Moorcock. Now THAT should be good stuff.
2234  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Inception on: July 19, 2010, 03:05:28 PM
The wife and I went on Saturday.
A review I wrote On FB:
This is probably the best movie I've seen in the past couple years. Super high production values, great acting all around, and a damn creative premise. Based on early reviews I was concerned that it might be a bit of a mind bender, but it really wasn't that hard to follow. I am actually in awe that Nolan was able to pull this off so well. I had a few minor nitpicks, but nothing that really takes anything away from the movie. A brilliant film that everyone must see.

InFamous is pretty good so far. I've done numerous side missions and have opened up a good portion of the first area. I can see this getting redundant, but for now I'm enjoying it.

I just finished it for the first time. I choose to be a good guy but I'm definitely replaying it as a villain, the game is so much fun.
How many hours did it take you to beat it? It seems to be moving along fairly quickly.
I also have chosen to be good, but the bad side was tempting.
