I've been dying to see Moon. Comes out tomorrow.

Sunshine was quite good until the final act, when it suddenly becomes a movie of a different genre.

Flower - The best damn Wii game that's not on the Wii! So I beat this thing already, and had a ton of fun doing so. That damn turbine level was just stunning. I enjoyed just flying around through the fields of flowers listening to the music. I will go back through some of the areas to get all the petals, and get more trophies. $10 well spent.

They wouldn't be if people would stop asking for 200 hour epic masterpieces, and would just settle for good games.
I agree with you here. Longer =/= better. I'm all for the 20 hour rpg. Mass Effect took me 35, but I did pretty much every sidequest, so it could have been much shorter.
Anything more is just tiring. Plus, there are other games to be played.

I get what people are saying in regards to the Wiis "weak" library. It doesn't get a lot of the big name titles.
Bayonetta and Darksiders are two recent examples.
Then there's FFVIII, Dragon Age, the COD games, the GTA games, Assassins Creed, ETC ETC ETC.
THIS is why it is deemed weak. No mention is made of the many "smaller" games that are released for it(or, more likely, the naysayers are unaware of said titles). I'll readily admit to not being aware of most anything that comes out for the Wii. They don't seem to try very hard to get non-casual gamers attention. Nintendo seems content to sit on the piles of cash they've obtained from all the people who bought a Wii, maybe one or two Mario games, and thats IT.
I understand both sides of this argument. The Wii does indeed have good games. You just have to look for them.

Dragon Age: I am in redcliffe castle, after the village battle and the encounter with Connor. So many CHOICES to make. Reminds me of those dang choose your own adventure books, except I can't go back if I make the wrong decision. And no, I'm not making a million saves. Whats done is done. I think I'm off to Denerim next.

I downloaded Flower yesterday. What a freakin' beautiful and fun game. Played through the first two areas. Makes me miss my garden, though. Spring is only....so far away.

I'm excited about the idea of the new zelda, but also a bit cautious. They really do need to change things up a bit, as the old formula, while still fun, is getting a bit tired.

As for the Wii itself...
I never touch it, sadly. But I also don't take the time to really look at whats out, and might interest me. I'd like to play Muramasa, but no way I'm paying full price.
Fragile, coming in March, looks good, but there are some slightlybigger games coming out around that time.
I'd also like to pick up the MP trilogy, but think they would work better on a widescreen.
You see,  my 360 and PS3 are hooked up to the 42" lcd, while the Wii is on the old 27" normal tv. I plan on getting a 32" to replace it, but that costs money.
Basically, there's been so many good games out for the 360/PS3 that the Wii is easy to ignore. Especially for someone with very limited gaming time.

Wonder how good the revival will be. I recall the original title as being one of the few sports titles I actually liked, so I am curious.
Same here. I'm actually curious about this. Those games were fun.
2227  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy VIII question on: January 05, 2010, 09:30:21 AM

EDIT: And yes, Camilla Belle really is a woman.  Meshie's just creating confusion, although his simple method of doing so here falls in stark contrast to his usual garbled theses.

This is why I was confused. He's usually very...wordy.
2228  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Your Top 10 RPGs of the last decade? on: January 05, 2010, 09:25:09 AM
Hmmm...no order:

Skies of Arcadia
Dark Cloud 2
FF XII
Mass Effect
Tales of the Abyss
Tales of Symphonia
FFX
DQVIII
Twilight Princess
Okami

I'm sure I'm missing something
2229  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy VIII question on: January 05, 2010, 09:19:38 AM
So this Camilla Belle really is a female. I was feeling odd for a minute there, as I find HER kind of attractive. Is there a joke here that I'm missing?
Hell, I never got the hatred for Rinoa myself. Looks-wise, she's totally my type. If I we're to not be married, and into dating video game characters, that is.

...

Never beat FFVIII. Too much reliance on GFs screwed me by the end of disc 3.

I think I've done pretty much all there is to do here, so it's time to leave this town for greater pastures.

Dude - bit of a spoiler here, but if you want cage-man to join your party, don't leave town.  You can never go back.
minor character spoilers:
Code:
I decided to brave Danes Nest or whatever it was called. Scored me a rogue priestess chick, which in turn scored me the big Quinari(sp?) dude. Awesome!
Now the tough decision of who to keep in my party.
2231  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGFan Game Journal XX - Sharpened Pencil Midnight Bathouse on: January 04, 2010, 04:03:08 PM
Been Playing Dragon Age since Christmas.  I decided to go with an Elf Mage, as most games stick you with the typical sword-wielder. Rogue was my second choice. Hopefully, I'll get one in my party.
I'm in Lothering after about 8 hours. I wanna get that big dude in the cage, but can't convince that revered mother chick to let me take him. I'm not an asshole, so I will not force her.
Morrigan is awesome with all her sarcastic comments and insults thrown an Alistair. I've got me a dog, too.
I think I've done pretty much all there is to do here, so it's time to leave this town for greater pastures.
The frame rate is a little wonky, but I think the graphics are just fine, if a little...brown.
The story seems pretty textbook so far, but the writing and characters are making it enjoyable.
I keep eyeballing Jan.26th on the calendar, and know I will not have this done before then. Then again, I'm not sure I could play 2 BioWare games in a row anyway. Might have to go back to Valkyria in between.

Copied from my Facebook review:

Wow. Holy shit, wow. I managed to love this movie, despite all the hype. That's saying something. Visually above and beyond anything I've ever seen at the movies. The 3D was not in your face obvious like other crappy 3D movies. I would say it allowed for more immersion, bringing you into Pandora. The story has been told numerous times before, with the same cliche villains, but the way it's told here, in this setting, makes it feel different. The best character in the whole movie was Neytiri(sp?). Zoe did a great job with the voice, and the animation was amazing.
Sam Worthington seems to have a hard time suppressing his Aussie accent. He's really not all that great, so I'm not sure why they couldn't have picked someone without an accent. He must have a hell of an agent, considering all that he's showing up in.
Regardless, the movie is well worth a trip(or trips) to the theater for the visuals alone.
I'll admit to being the choir that this movie is preaching to with it's message. Take care of the earth, and she takes care of you. A few scenes genuinely got to me. You really fall in line with the navi, and want them to kick some sky people ass.
Great movie!

Saw Burton's "Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street" on Christmas day. I love the songs in this musical. "Epiphany" is one of my favourites!

One of my all-time favorite movies :)
Awesome movie. Bought it for the wife for Christmas.

The HP movies DO improve with each outing. Except for HBP. I agree with Esper on that one. It's not that they left things out. It's WHAT they left out that was the problem.  I'll have to see it again to get a final judgment, but right now I would rank it behind prisoner and Phoenix. Maybe even Goblet.

Finally going to see Avatar tomorrow. I'm surprised at the lack of a thread or conversation on this.
2234  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The Xmas swag thread. It's an RPGFan Xmas tradition! on: December 26, 2009, 05:36:09 PM
Oh man, you guys won't believe this!
So the mystery has been solved in regards to the two DS games missing. I caught my son trying to throw them out!
Apparently he took the DS to Kindercare/school without telling us, which is strictly forbidden. In so doing he proceeded to LOSE said DS. Either it fell out, or some punk stole out of his book bag. Either way, it's gone. He swiped the games(which we're from Santa, so we wouldn't know about them... Right?) from under the tree in order to keep from having to own up on the missing DS. Crazy shit.
Wow. I didn't think my "good" kid had it in him.
Well, he's in big trouble now, and will be buying a new DS for his mom and dad(in time), is banned from the Wii for a month, and has to do whatever the hell I tell him to do, WHEN I tell him to do it. Plus, Kirby goes back. Scribble we keep.
*sighs*
2235  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The Xmas swag thread. It's an RPGFan Xmas tradition! on: December 25, 2009, 11:28:56 PM
Lets see...

Dragon Age for PS3(installing as I type this)
a comfy Moon chair for my gaming and movie watching
Pajamas with frickin' footies on them because my feet get so damn cold. Good wife
One of them winter hats with the super warm lining and covers for the ears.
Gamestop, Lands End, Itunes, Marcus Cinema, Borders gift cards
warm denim jacket
Belgian waffle maker
Pressure cooker
Misc. KnickKnacks and goodies

Funny thing: "Santa" brought my son Kirby Super Star Ultra, and the family Scribblenauts. Problem is, when we we're opening presents this morning, these two things were gone. Mysteriously disappeared. I know my son was up before we were, but he is adamant that he had nothing to do with it. I'm convinced he did because there is no other possibility. I don't think someone would break in, only take 2 DS games, cover their tracks perfectly, then leave. I even have pictures I took last night showing one of the games in the pile. I'm pissed because I spent $55 on these games, and now they are gone.  WTF?!

Anyway...
Merry Christmas, everybody!
