Fantastic game. I'm a bit of a tree hugger, so the meaning behind it all really worked for me. Loved the look of the game, and the music fits perfectly. I suppose some would consider it too short, but I thought it was perfect for what you pay. Highly recommended.

i think the "charm" in WKC is that it resembles a MMORPG, AGH ive been waiting years to play it and i wont let some bad reviews just kill my expectations, i want the gameee

I don't understand this mentality. I don't care how much I'm looking forward to a game. If it ends up sucking, I won't play it.
Like if ME2 ended up crappy, with fair to midland reviews. I'd say "Man, that sucks", and move on to something else.
Same with FFXIII. If for some reason it turns out bad, or even mediocre, I will not buy it.
My time is too valuable to waste on shitty games.

Why make a sequel to WKC? Seems like a waste of time and resources. They should be making either Dragon Quest X or Dark Cloud 3. Anything else I don't care about.

Dragon Age - I am now in Orzammar. Dwarves in this game have rubbed me the wrong way from the get go, and being here is just making it worse. I don't like that they sound the same as humans. Same with the elves, actually, but they aren't as creepy looking.
Hopefully the deep road will be entertaining.

Yeah, I kind of agree.  I just walked into Orzammar and they seem a little strange.  Perhaps it's because I'm pretty used to World of Warcraft's dwarves for so long that they are immediately what I think of (even though I never made a Dwarf myself).

Oh, and WTF I just found out there's a gold glitch in this game.  Now my rogue is decked out in that expensive as shit Rose Dagger and some badass belt.  Bought some awesome tank ring for Alistair too.
Gold glitch? Where? How?

Whoa. Good thing I read this, because I would have done the same thing. Only having a 20gb HD, I generally only have one game installed at a time.
So this forces you to have both disks installed at once? Or it matters more where the game info is saved? i.e. The save info should be elsewhere?

These are all from my garden
Praying Mantises are totally badass. Notice the lack of a head on it's dinner

Hummingbird Moth. Hard to get a good picture of, but very cool:

Dragon Age - I am also doing the Circle Tower quest. I like having Wynne in my party, as she kicks more ass than expected. Plus, her healing powers are beyond helpful.
I encountered some sloth demon and ended up in the fade.
Code:
I was confusedly wandering around in the different areas until I got the ability to turn into a mouse. Continued exploration netted me the three other shape shifts. Now I just need to deal with the demon in the middle. I've actually enjoyed playing through this fade area.

I decided that after putting 36 hrs into DA, I couldn't just stop to play ME2.
I finished the Elf scenario and got the Arcane Warrior thing.
Code:
I totally sided with the werewolves. It would be cool to get one as a party member
After doing a few sidequesty things I am now in the Circle Tower. Just got Wynne in my party.

BTW, I have had no trouble with any of the DLC with either DA or ME2. I just read the little card, and inputted the code where I was supposed to. The ME2 stuff was "pending" so I'll have to redo it. Regardless, it was easy.

2260  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: How long do you play games a day? on: January 27, 2010, 11:22:55 AM
Maybe an hour to an hour and a half on weeknights after the wife and kid have gone to bed. I'll try and squeeze in an extra hour or two on the weekends, but am rarely successful. I'd say 10-12 hrs per week on average. Wish I could play more, but that whole work/family/LIFE thing gets in the way.
2261  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Mass Effect 2 on: January 27, 2010, 09:48:58 AM
OK, so I played for about an hour and a half last night.
I'm almost shocked at how much they changed things. It's been majorly streamlined. This is way more Action game with a good story/characters than it is rpg w/ action elements.
After playing DA with it's ridiculous amount of loot and HOURS spent in the menus alone, this is refreshing.
Considering you can get good story and characters out of all sorts of non-rpgs nowadays, it's hard to say THAT is what makes it an rpg. It's evident to me that this game will still have more to it than your average action game. Adding in the conversation wheel and character customization keeps it in the rpg realm.
Still, you could totally sell this solely on its action elements because it's fun to play.
The ammo "system" is kinda odd, but hardly worth thinking about. I haven't played much so I have no clue what this "heat sink" thing is you guys are talking about.
2262  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Mass Effect 2 on: January 26, 2010, 07:44:02 PM
Yeah, after all my whining, I still bought it. I'll take the night off DA and start this up. I'm just afraid that once I get into this DA will be abandoned. I'm actually kinda liking it now, too. Oh well.
2263  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Official Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Release Topic on: January 26, 2010, 04:09:21 PM
Either way, I can't really justify $60 (+tax) on a game right now... Especially given its 60 hours with little else in terms of sidequests and replayability

I'm having the opposite reaction. The only game the past 2 years I've spent 60 hours on was Dragon Age. 60 hours seriously isn't enough? I'm actually thinking it might be too long. If it doesn't have some variety I may not finish it. Unless it is the best game ever...
I'm with Blace here. Who sees 60 hours as not enough? I'd prefer games come in around 20-30 hrs, and have no problem paying for it as long as I am entertained.
I'm about halfway through DA with the clock around 35 hours. I'd love to be ending so I can play ME2.

Plus, the game is still a month and a half away. Save $10 a week?
Sounds to me like your looking for an excuse not to buy it.

@GrimReality:

This is something I was explaining to a friend of mine earlier, I thought maybe I'd pass it along your way. Maybe you'll get an idea from it.

---

there's a lot of corridors and long tunnels
i have max Survivability trait to see enemies from major distances, so I can prepare tactics
in a room at the end of a corridor, first thing, disable party movement
make them hold their ground, you don't want them following you
I take myself and wynne, a mostly-healer based mage, down the tunnel
leave my rogue/bard at the mouth with a song buff active, and ready to start throwing grenades
leave Shale, the Golem character who you have to get through DLC, which is free now
turn on Stone Aura to give the entire party Attack, Defense, Armor, All Resist, Health, Mana, and Stamina Regen+ bonuses
stack 4 glyphs of paralysis at the doorway, before opening it
and from the hall, cast Inferno at the back of the room
earthquake near the doorway
a grease trap in the earthquake and the paralysis glyphs
this way, once they sluggishly come near me, i cast Fireball, knocking them, as well as me way the hell back from the blast radius
hurling their bodies like rag dolls into the wall, back into the inferno pillar
which also sets the grease trap on fire
causing furthered burn damage
then when they get close, the glyphs start being set off
I throw a Glyph of Repulsion into one of the paralysis glyphs, which triggers Paralysis Explosion
which hits even your own party members even on Casual, be wary, it'll destroy you fast if not careful.

Then as I'm standing there without drawing my weapon, 15 enemies fall dead at my feet. Likely from how sexy I look.

::HIP THRUST::

PS: yes i play suicidally it is enjoyable
PPS: Vanguard in Mass Effect for life bitch.

THIS is why I'm not particularly enjoying this game. There's simply too much to think about. Honestly, I just want to run around and blast spells at things. All this strategic nonsense sounds like WORK. I will never take the time for that type of setup. I'll bet 75% of this game is lost on a guy like me. 30 hours and I feel like I've hardly done anything. I'm in the Dalish elf village now, btw. Oh look...more brown!
nitpick: The voices of the elves, dwarves, etc. don't work for me. They should have made them distinctive. Everyone sounds the same. Boring.
Too bad this gen has basically forced me into playing these types of games. Too much jrpg suckitude.
Don't get me wrong. I totally dig the characters, and the dungeons have been pretty good so far. I LIKE the game. I just don't LOVE it. With the small amount of time I get to play games, I should only be playing those I LOVE.
Hopefully ME2 will be more focused. The first one was, so I anticipate good things out of 2. I may be playing it sooner than I thought.

2265  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Mass Effect 2 on: January 23, 2010, 10:38:52 AM
Something like Bayonetta, but I refuse to blow $60 on that.

I wouldn't really say you're blowing off 60 dollars when you buy Bayonetta, but then again the game's style might not be your cup of tea. I wholly recommend it though, it's a fantastic game.

The trailer was alright. I'd still be on the fence for the 60 dollar price point, but I can get the game for 15 dollars and that seems about the right price for me.
Not to hijack the thread, but...
I love the DMC games, and loved the demo I played of Bayonetta. I just don't normally pay full price for those types of games. I'm a cheap ass.
$15?! trading in old games? Some kind of employee discount? back room deal?
