2266  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: So, BP is cool. on: June 01, 2010, 03:27:52 PM
I've said this in other posts about this topic(not here), but I remain baffled. Why is there not a shut off valve somewhere on the line just in case something like this happens? Because they didn't want to spend the money on it? Baffles me.

Mass Effect 2 - I think I'm pretty much at the end:
Recruited the Geth dude and did his loyalty quest. Had my ship wiped by the reaper IFF virus. Not cool. Now I'm just finishing sidequests before doing the suicide mission
The scanning became infinitely more tolerable after the update. I've got 100% on every system on the galaxy map. You'd think there would be an achievement for that. Maybe there's another area I'm missing.
2268  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: I just don't like handhelds... on: May 28, 2010, 12:19:06 PM

But if I can hook it up to my tv somehow, we may be in business. How is this done?
It's done through component/composite cables you can buy for the 2000 and 3000 versions of the system, which you plug into at the headphone jack. I believe you need an HDTV to play them, but I swear I've seen people mention running games on SDTVs over composite at some point.
I've got 2 HDtvs, so I'm good there. Hmmm

I completely agree with the OP. I have a DS but never play it. I don't have a PSP, but want to get one because of all the amazing games coming out for it. But I KNOW I won't use it, so I don't bother. But if I can hook it up to my tv somehow, we may be in business. How is this done? Through the PS3? I'm totally getting one if I can play the games like normal console ones. Makes me wonder why I need the PSP itself. Too bad I can't just get the games and play the through the PS3 somehow.

I'm actually still playing it. I'm 46 hours in and close to the end(as far as I can tell). Even after the upgrade the planet scanning is still pretty damn annoying. I haven't hooked my system up to the interwebnet in a few weeks, so if there's an update I haven't gotten it yet. Perhaps I'll do that tonight.
I'm playing as a vanguard, and yes, the charge is awesome. Especially the powered up versions.

I'm still pissed that I didn't go to the concert when they were in town. I've been meaning to look up what was available. Had no idea there were two already.
Jenova is such a kick ass tune in it's original form that I hesitate to listen to remixes. I love piano arrangements, though, and that's pretty good, PM.

George Martin seems to be the only heavy hitter that currently has a series going that is worth a damn, and he's taking his SWEET TIME

I just really wanted to point out how hilarious this is:  a year and a half later, and absolutely nothing has changed. :P

The last Ice and Fire book that featured the entire cast was A Storm of Swords.  I think it came out in 2000.  In that time, I've graduated from college...three times. :P

I know, right? It's so infuriating because I love his work, and I'm excited for the HBO series, but....COME ON.

When a Feast for Crows came out....I hadnt even met Evelyn yet. Here I am getting married to her next year. I swear to God, if the next book isnt out by the time I have a ring on my finger, he's totally getting a horse head delivered.

Oh and I totally just reread this entire thread (why does that sound and read so weird?) and none of us mentioned The Name of the Wind. If you havent read it yet, give it a shot. It's pretty damned good. And thankfully Pat Rothfuss has at least given us a solid time frame on the next book. It's somethin at least!

Have you guys read his blog? He actually talks about how difficult it is to write and re-write chapters, and get everything in sync. He also yaps about all sorts of other crap(aka football) that I don't care about, so I don't check it all that often. He seems to spend far too much time traveling and working on other projects. The man needs to focus!
As for my reading...
I just finished the fantastic Gap series by Donaldson and am now reading the first Temeraire book.

Dice -  Smurf Pocahontas. heh That cracked me up.

Been trying to fit in the last season of BSG and Razor in between the insane intersession class work. Needing something else soon to fill the void till more Caprica comes out. Thinking of FIrefly cause I liked Serenity.
Wait...You watched Serenity without seeing Firefly first? That's just...odd. I suppose it might make a decent stand alone movie, but you HAVE to see Firefly to really appreciate it.
2274  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Nier on: May 04, 2010, 07:28:05 PM
hell, I'm interested in this game only because of what I'm hearing about the soundtrack. This excites me because great soundtracks are just so damn rare nowadays.
2275  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: May 04, 2010, 09:23:20 AM
Still cranking through ME2. I just have to get Tali, and do whatever side stuff I feel like doing. I think I'm almost done with this thing. Great game but definitely ready to move on after 37 hours.
2276  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FINAL FANTASY XIII on: May 04, 2010, 09:18:47 AM
Gen eric posted up in the Neir thread that FFXIII was going to be $30 at kmart from 5/4-5/10. I check the website early this morning, and they're already claiming to be sold out. wtf? Don't have a frickin sale if you can't handle it, morons!
Guess I'll continue to wait on getting this. Back to ME2...

edit! - No luck on the interwebsnet so I called a store near the office and found a copy. Last one, too. I figured I wouldn't be getting this for awhile, but for $30, you can't beat it. cool beans.

2277  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: April 27, 2010, 01:56:25 PM
ME2 - About 35 hours in now, and while I'm still enjoying it, I'm ready to move on.
The damn planet scanning gets so monotonous. It's just too friggin' slow. Even with the upgraded scanner.
I did  Mordins and Grunts Loyalty missions. I still need to do Garrrus, Thane, and Samaras. I haven't recruited Tali yet either. Then there's that last blank character slot...
2278  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Obscure "Am I the only one who's played/heard of this?" games thread on: April 20, 2010, 10:28:21 AM
No Ys game counts as obscure.
I was quite into the turbografx back in the day, so most of my obscure games center around it.
I played and enjoyed both Exile I & II
Shape Shifter was interesting
Cosmic Fantasy 2 was the first(?) WD game. I actually played through it twice. I imagine If I played it now it would be total garbage. I still like how it ended, though.
I have an imported copy of Dracula X. Tough game with a kick ass ST.
And I swear I am the only one in the RPGfan community who ever mentions Dungeon Explorer II and it's incredible soundtrack. Can't believe you music people never mention it.

2279  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: God of war III on: April 20, 2010, 09:51:47 AM
That sounds pretty neat. I loved the last two soundtracks. I remember the ultimate edition included that CD, but I'm probably gonna pass since I just don't have $100 for a game :P

I think it's been Devil May Cry 4 putting me in a (sorta)-heavy-metal-game-soundtrack-mood :P

But DMC4 had an awful soundtrack. Hopefully, it put you in the mood for GOOD metal. Great game, but the music sucked.

I also liked the STs for GoW I & II. More of the same brought to a higher level works for me. Can't wait to play this after I finish ME2.
2280  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: God of war III on: April 19, 2010, 05:08:47 PM
Lots of epic choral stuff? LOTR type stuff? I love that type of music, especially during big battles and such.
I can see this game being advertised with Metal, but not actually having it in the game. Wouldn't sound right with the whole Greek mythology thing.
