Seriously, I was THIS close to thinking you guys were just screwing with us for a second.  Sunshine, Moon...

"Ooh, I like Tree too.  Grass was OK, but a little slow to develop."

"No way - how can you like Tree, but say Grass was slow?!"

Next time, check runpee.com before the movie.  Or if you see a lot of movies, you might think it's worth $2 for the iPhone app. :D

I've never yet played a survival horror game and liked it, regardless of control scheme, including RE1. :)  (Just had to be the jerk who said "everything sucks" for once.)
1894  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / The Big Lebowski on: January 08, 2010, 10:52:36 PM
OK, I admit I've only seen The Big Lebowski once, and I don't love it like some do, but I still thought this was pretty cool when someone linked me to it today: it's the script of The Big Lebowski as if it were written by William Shakespeare.  I've read through the first few scenes, and the author did some funny, clever stuff.

I'm a physical book guy as well.  My wife and I are approaching 3400 books, and I just like the way a book feels in your hand, as well as the ease of flipping back to something you want to read again, and other things.  That said, I've been walking more in the last few years, and I've gained a great appreciation for audio books during the winter and on windy/rainy days.

I've read Project Gutenberg books on my PC and on my old smart phone, and neither way bowled me over, although I recognize that they're not really geared for it the way a Kindle or other dedicated hardware would be.

Oh - that reminds me, I've read a few more recent books on my PC that I'd actually recommend as entertaining reads.  Here are a pair of freebies, and I still feel like I'm forgetting one:

Timely Persuasion - it's a little bit Back to the Future, a little bit Quantum Leap, a little bit The Butterfly Effect... good stuff.  The stuff that'd be in the dust jacket is here:

The book is here:

Flyboy Action Figure Comes With Gasmask - "Ryan, a shy, caffeine-addicted university student, can turn into a fly. Cassandra, a waitress at a greasy spoon, can make things disappear. They were made for each other... and to battle the forces of evil! Inspired by Sailor Moon, Flyboy and Ms. Place take on the villains who inhabit their world: cigarette barons, redneck tabloid newspapers, and the patriarchy."

Awesome game...

God I miss point and click adventure games by Sierra, LucasArts, and the Discworld Point and Click game. :(

Some of that stuff is still available on abandonware sites, but I will leave it to you to determine the legality of anything you choose to download from them.  (That is, I don't know the copyright/availability status of anything you might find there, so don't do bad things on my account.)

9-

...Those looking for great visuals and action will get what they are looking for, while those looking for a great story should probably stick to Pixar (for now).

That was my impression as well.  The plot wasn't the best - huge holes, and why is it that 9 is a hero in the end?  If he hadn't screwed things up, they'd all still be alive, instead of half being dead.  But it looked great, the action was cool, and I liked it overall.

Haha - man, I loved that back in college.  When it was first new. Now I feel old. :)

Bonus old guy feeling: we had a copy of Arch Rivals, one of the predecessors to NBA Jam, in our dorms.

Odd.  I was told after leaving that the town had been overrun by the blight and they killed everyone left.  Oddly, they even mentioned prisoners, even though I don't think there were any left there.  Guess I'll have to try to go back and see.
1901  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Short, easy, but cool point & click on: January 05, 2010, 01:12:52 PM
OK, so this is mighty easy, and it'll only take you a few minutes, but maybe that's a good thing!   I just liked it a bunch and wanted to share.  Its music is cool and the graphics are more than cool, IMHO.

1902  Media / Brush and Quill / Re: So like, comic books and stuff on: January 05, 2010, 01:09:28 PM
I have to say - I've really been considering selling off most of my comics.  I'd just hang onto the issues I really love.  Only thing is I'm not sure how to go about it.

Now the tough decision of who to keep in my party.

Whew - I'm glad you thought to do that, because I forgot that's where she came from.  She's my archer who won't freaking keep using her bow.  Argh.  Gonna stop giving her backup weapons.
1904  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGFan Game Journal XX - Sharpened Pencil Midnight Bathouse on: January 04, 2010, 05:22:02 PM
I think I've done pretty much all there is to do here, so it's time to leave this town for greater pastures.

Dude - bit of a spoiler here, but if you want cage-man to join your party, don't leave town.  You can never go back.
1905  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: New KH Birth By Sleep Trailer...amazing! on: January 04, 2010, 11:16:21 AM
Bahaha! This trailer is worth watching just for Mickey's Japanese voice.

Mickey's, Donald's, and Goofy's voices all sound hilarious in Japanese.

I have the Japanese soundtracks to KH 1 & 2, and they crack me up every time.
