Finished the Ramayana last night at about 1:30.  Great stuff.  The same author (Ashok Banker) is tackling the Mahabharata next, but he says he's up to 18 volumes of 800 pages, and it sounds like he's not done yet.  That's a lot of reading, even for someone who loves books.

Sorry, Monkey - wrong Syracuse.  You mean the one in NY, I meant the one in Utah. :)

i know someone who lives in utah and and often says that the salt lake reeks.

Depending on where you live, that's totally true.  It's a "dead lake," which means that water flows in, but it doesn't flow out, and it's salt water (hence the name).  Back in the late 1800s, if not later, it was so salty that you couldn't sink in it!  That's not true now, but it's still salty enough that they farm brine shrimp there.

So... if you live in some places, the wind blows in off the lake, especially in the evenings, and you get icky salt water brine shrimp farm smell.  It's icky.  I had some friends in Syracuse, and it smells like that there.

And since with all of these posts, I haven't actually posted any pics, here's one of my cat in a tree.  She's as close as I have to a kid:

And I know some frown on this kind of thing, but I thought this was a very nice pic of the Empire State Building at night:

Finally made it to the last book in the Ramayana (well, the version I have, anyway).  About 700 pages to go, but there's already been a "holy crap" moment or two.  Good stuff.  Fantasy readers might want to check it out - look for the books by Ashok Banker, because there have probably been hundreds of versions written over the years.

Lake Erie is green too. i haven't gone in it since i was like 15 and i'm 29 now. someone would have to like pay me to go in. but sometimes when i'm jet ski'ing i wipe and fall in >_<

EEEEWWWWWW - there's a place like that in Utah.  (Willard Bay?)  Can't figure out why people still go there all the time anyway.

And nice glasses, Tomara - my last pair were almost exactly like them. :)

This thread is too sexy and pretty for its own good (I mostly blame Deggy weggy poo's trim new physique).

Come on, we all know who's really making the thread too pretty.  It's just that us married guys can't compliment her. ;)

Awesome - hockey team bikini.  You have to be truly hardcore to wear that. :)

Watched Mystery Men again, first time in a long time.  Still love it.

Also watching stuff like Fraggle Rock and Quantum Leap on DVD, and just today, I started watching the Doctor Who spinoff "The Sarah Jane Adventures."

Esper, have you seen the new Red Dwarf episodes that came out recently (like last month)?  I have 2 of them... really need to finish up and get the other.

Caught Wolverine.  Silly, but entertaining.  Glad I saw it, even though I could easily find fault with it if I thought that'd be more fun.

Oh, and the after-credits ending I got was
Code:
Deadpool's sword-claw retracting, then his hand reaching out of the rubble to pick up his still-severed head.  The mouth was no longer sewn closed, and he said "shhh" or something like that.

A lot of folks feel like the Dark Tower series didn't end so well, but it sure starts out great.  I love the Gunslinger.

Watched Ghajini, the Indian remake of Memento.  I was ready for it to be over at least 20 minutes before it was.  I think it was the songs that killed me, or maybe it was that half of the movie was an action movie and the other half was a stupid mistaken identity romantic comedy.  (I hate mistaken identity stories, even by the best authors like Shakespeare.)  But still, glad I watched it to see how that translation worked out.

Not to slight you man, but I tend to listen more if the ladies think I look better.

I'd be surprised if you said differently. :D
