Are you one of these guys? ;)

Just don't watch the recent three-parter of Red Dwarf that was made to officially finish the show. It was fucking terrible.
Was it just not funny, or does it go the opposite way and sacrifice the characters for cheap gags? Those are the two things that typically make a good comedy series go downhill. I've heard a couple bad things about Back to Earth, and there's a chance I might watch it depending on how the show itself ends, since I always prefer to have some sort of conclusion.

I'd say just not so funny.  (Although I did get a chuckle or two out of it...)

Eh - I watched it last week and thought it was OK.  Easily at least as good as season 8. If you added up everything good from that season, you'd still only have enough material to fill up one episode.

But don't let that dissuade you, Hathen.  Plenty of great stuff before season 8.

Red Dwarf is awesome.  My cat's named Frankenstein because of that show. :)

Sorry to continue the threadjack, but... the last time I got glasses, I put in the extra cash for the ones that go dark in the sun.  I'm a little disappointed in the fact that they don't go quite as dark as I'd like (midnight black), and that they don't go dark in the car, but other than that, they're great.  Makes it easier to do things like go to Disneyland, where you're going in and out all the time.  Also, I don't have to worry about losing my prescription sunglasses, which is a problem for me. :)

...suppose hey don't make prescription snow goggles then, huh?

Hahaha - never even thought about it!  Now I wonder if they do?

One Google search later: Yep, they do.  Here's a site that will seemingly put your prescription into just about anything with a lens.

Fun fact, or hey, maybe not-so-fun... but when I was in the military, I actually had prescription inserts for my gas mask.  They were lenses with a sort of frame on springs on the side.  Kind of similar to these, but the side part wasn't huge like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/70%27s-Military-Gas-Mask-Lens-Glasses-with-prescription_W0QQitemZ390084696114QQcmdZViewItem

You know, Dice, winter is the one thing that makes me reconsider contacts.  For the non-bespectacled among you, I'll just say that scarf + glasses = no more vision-style fog.

Supernatural - good show with an awesome soundtrack.  Wish they'd release CDs of the classic rock in that show.  (Disclaimer: I've only seen the first season and part of the second, but it was great up until then!)

I really really really can't stand Kubrick.

Glad to know I'm not alone.  I've tried at least three of his movies, and found them all terrible and boring, despite everyone else in the universe seemingly saying he's the greatest filmmaker in the history of ever.

I'm now... 8 books, I think, into re-reading Wheel of Time (don't care if other people hated it - I liked it enough to read it again).

Happened to pick up and start reading what I believe is the latest book in the Wild Cards series, Inside Straight.  George R. R. Martin fans, check that series out.  He didn't write it all, but he was the editor for the whole thing, and most of it's very good stuff.  It's a shame that the earlier books are hard to find offline.

And I read some other book about time travel just last weekend, liked it, and already can't think of the name. :D

Saw District 9 last night.  Thought it was really good stuff.

Dude - I just watched The Guild for the first time today (not a MMORPG player, but it was funny anyway).  You look like Bladezz!

Psycho- Pretty good stuff. I didn't find it all too scary, but it was a good mystery thriller. It's contribution to the genre is huge.

It's amazing to see that now and think about the differences between horror movies then and now.  It was so genuinely scary that a LOT of people said they couldn't take showers any more after watching it.  The thing is that since it was so successful, the good parts have been copied a million times since then, so it's all old hat if you're watching it now for the first time.  Like you said, its contribution to the genre was huge.

Oddly enough, this new version makes me MORE likely to play it.  Haven't played it before, have a PSP with me pretty much all the time...  I just hope that despite the changes, it's a great game.

The Ring. Piece of crap that makes no sense at all. I want my 2 hours back.

I'm totally telling my wife you felt that way - she hates that movie for the same reasons, and up until now, I think I'm the only one who's agreed with her.  So many people think that movie's super awesome.  We just don't get it.
