I <3 Ron Paul btw. Call me a Paul-Tard and I will punch you in the gonads.

What about a Re-Ron? ;)

Spent the last week or so playing nothing but Blue Dragon Plus.  (Review to be posted shortly.)  Finished it, now trying to finish up the stuff I left behind in Crisis Core... before I break down and buy Retro Game Challenge.

Yeah, I think it's a case of "just see what happens if you try to get out of paying" thing.  I'll just go ahead and do it.  Legally required or not, I like that the government provides services for me, even if I don't always agree with them on what those services should be or how much money they should put into them.

Coraline in 3D.  Saw a commercial saying it was the last weekend for it (in 3D) and it sucked me in.  Thought it was pretty decent - definitely Gaiman-esque.  There were a bunch of visual elements that reminded me of Mirrormask.

I think that developers have been realizing over the last few years that some elements of RPGs have a lot broader appeal than they thought.  Mainly, the idea of building a character over the course of a game to a greater extent than just "now you have a shotgun."

For example, I seem to remember that one of our own said his favorite RPG of the last year was NHL 2009, and although that game didn't fall into what we'd normally think of as the RPG genre, I could definitely understand what he meant based on the player customization available there.

I went and saw Coraline today. I was disappointed. The reviews had me believe it would be awesome, but it wasn't. I was bored out of my mind. I was looking at the time every few minutes.

Reminds me of when I saw the dark knight for the first time...

;)

Blasphemer!

j/k - I liked TDK, but didn't think it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen like so many did.

Up until I hit the part with the guns, I was thinking "meh, this is kind of interesting, but whatever."  But then, katanas!

I have that book, but didn't read it yet.  I started to read Imajica and got hundreds of pages in before I gave up on it because I hated it.  Will be interested to see if you post what you think about The Great and Secret Show.

If you haven't already, and can get your hands on a copy... and like reading... play Planescape: Torment.  In many encounters in that game, you can get way more experience by accomplishing the sometimes more difficult task of talking your way through a situation rather than fighting it out.

Had to drop in and say I didn't like Finding Nemo.  It was a depressing movie... and that's as much as I can remember.  I seem to have disliked it enough that I blocked out most of the details.

And I saw Appaloosa last night.  Not bad, but not amazing either.  Mostly, I wasn't sure if I liked the ending or not.

I recently plugged mine in again and enjoyed a few games of Crazy Taxi.  My wife gave it to me as an anniversary present way back in 2001 or so.  Best present ever. :D
2112  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: 360 HDMI on: February 06, 2009, 11:17:07 PM
I have exactly that item, although I bought it at Gamestop.  It's worked like a charm for me.  Glad I got it.  As you may already know, it's tough to predict whether component or HDMI will look better, so as Eusis says, it may not make a difference in what you see.

However!  I bought mine because my new TV had 3 HDMI ports and 2 component ports, one of which could also accept composite.  The only other thing I had that uses HDMI was my PS3, but I had a number of things that could plug into those precious component/composite ports.  Buying this device essentially gave me another port on my TV, and that was totally worth it.

Here's a link to it on gamestop.com, where you can get it far cheaper than Amazon.  It's not available through the website, but you can put in your zip code and see if a Gamestop or EB Games near you has one in stock.  Their "in stock or not" checker has been pretty accurate for me whenever I've tried it.

I try not to look at the counter - it's depressing. ;-)

Crap, I got a buggy version? This is what happens when I make impulsive purchases. I tend to naturally default to PSP if a game is out on both DS and PSP (not that there are many).

Don't worry about it too much - all versions had bugs... it's just that they all had different bugs.  The PSP's bug is that the companion effects don't actually work.  I played it on the PSP and never missed it... since I never got to play with it.

I have to ask - did you spell "peeve" wrong on purpose?  Because if so, I salute your subtle cleverness. :)
