I loved the feel of the animation.  Kind of like claymation.
2102  Media / Brush and Quill / How to play... on: September 16, 2009, 10:12:22 AM
A friend showed me this gallery today, and it was so perfect I had to pass it on.  It's "how to play" a whole bunch of games.  For example, BioShock:

Are you one of these guys? ;)

2104  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Scribblenauts on: September 16, 2009, 10:07:56 AM
Argh.  I want that game bad... but I don't have my DS with me this week, and I told my wife that she should buy Scribblenauts because I think she'd like it.  So I have to give her first crack at it regardless.  (Of course, maybe I'll be wrong, she won't like it, and she'll give me her copy.) ;)

Just don't watch the recent three-parter of Red Dwarf that was made to officially finish the show. It was fucking terrible.
Was it just not funny, or does it go the opposite way and sacrifice the characters for cheap gags? Those are the two things that typically make a good comedy series go downhill. I've heard a couple bad things about Back to Earth, and there's a chance I might watch it depending on how the show itself ends, since I always prefer to have some sort of conclusion.

I'd say just not so funny.  (Although I did get a chuckle or two out of it...)

I read the following (reprinted) column today and immediately thought of our discussion about this game:

Eh - I watched it last week and thought it was OK.  Easily at least as good as season 8. If you added up everything good from that season, you'd still only have enough material to fill up one episode.

But don't let that dissuade you, Hathen.  Plenty of great stuff before season 8.

Didn't want to say anything before now because it hadn't been released yet, but I've been playing Disgaea 2 pretty much non-stop for weeks now on the PSP.  Finally beat the original story tonight, and I'm on to the second one.  Review hopefully coming soon.

Red Dwarf is awesome.  My cat's named Frankenstein because of that show. :)

I don't really see what the advantages of a PSP Go are. The old PSPs can play all these games and more, and they're cheaper. I mean, it's cool that they're actually packaging the dang thing with a hard drive now, but that's the only real advantage I can see.

I am glad to see new titles hit the PSP store though. Wild Arms XF and Riviera are on the Australian store, and chances are I'll buy both eventually.

And all that aside, the controls look really uncomfortable and difficult to use...

I've got somewhere between 1 and 2 thousand.  Can't remember any more - really haven't added to the collection in a while now.  A friend recently let me borrow the entire 100 Bullets series, and that was really good stuff.  And of course, I've had to talk Watchmen with a lot of folks this summer.  Glad I read it again!

Sorry to continue the threadjack, but... the last time I got glasses, I put in the extra cash for the ones that go dark in the sun.  I'm a little disappointed in the fact that they don't go quite as dark as I'd like (midnight black), and that they don't go dark in the car, but other than that, they're great.  Makes it easier to do things like go to Disneyland, where you're going in and out all the time.  Also, I don't have to worry about losing my prescription sunglasses, which is a problem for me. :)

** also a portmanteau. This means Quake-Rogue.

That's awesome.  I hope you keep it, seriously. :)

...suppose hey don't make prescription snow goggles then, huh?

Hahaha - never even thought about it!  Now I wonder if they do?

One Google search later: Yep, they do.  Here's a site that will seemingly put your prescription into just about anything with a lens.

Fun fact, or hey, maybe not-so-fun... but when I was in the military, I actually had prescription inserts for my gas mask.  They were lenses with a sort of frame on springs on the side.  Kind of similar to these, but the side part wasn't huge like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/70%27s-Military-Gas-Mask-Lens-Glasses-with-prescription_W0QQitemZ390084696114QQcmdZViewItem

Also California Adventure being Marvelified

That would be cool, but I definitely agree with wayens.  Over the last few years especially, California Adventure's started to become Pixar-land.  Wonder what happened to the Cars stuff they were working on?
