I wonder if the Steam connection is going to be handled like an online pass. Will you have to go through Steam to play co-op? If you don't you would be able to play co-op with one purchase of the game (PS3 and PC). But what would happen to the people who don't buy the game new? Will they be unable to play the game online? Will they be able to purchase an online pass? Will that online pass give them the PC version as well? How much will it cost?

I love that Valve is doing this more than I can express in words, but there are a lot of questions I have about the practical implementation of this system.

I started reading "Kafka on the Shore" because it was sitting on my bookshelf, but I'm only 20 pages in or so. One day I'll get around to reading all of his books. Or at least most of them. I received "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running" as a gift recently but I want to read at least one of his novels first, if not two, just so I can have a sense of how his memoir informs his writing style.

A friend of mine told me Anansi Boys is the weakest of his novels, recommending Neverwhere instead.

These days I'm reading Kindle samples of trashy fantasy novels, but nothing's really grabbed me so far. I've been meaning to read Haruki Murakami for a while though, so I may start into one of his books.

I like the books better, mostly because they don't cram the content of three books into approximately 30 minutes of screen time. The 5th is favorite, and I really didn't like the 6th the first time I read it but for some reason really enjoyed it when I re-read it after watching the movie. The movie's still a great time through.

Versus XIII looks like Kingdom Hearts on steroids. This will definitely be my favorite game of 2077. (But seriously I love me some KH and the combat in that trailer was oh so tasty.)

I read American Gods about a week ago. Apparently people like it or something? Who knew. (Just kidding, it was super awesome and got me back on a reading kick. I read the whole thing in like 4 days which is pretty fast for me.)

Been watching Ouran High School Host Club, and yes it's goofy and over the top, but it's hilarious!  And it's got Vic Mignogna, Junpei from P3's VA, need I say more?

I started watching this over Thanksgiving because I was bored and heard it mentioned a couple of times from friends. It was a great guilty pleasure series, but I only watched the first half of the first season or so. K-ON! falls into the same boat for me - cutesy guilty pleasure anime fun.

I'm a bit late on the bandwagon for The Social Network but I just finished watching it and I thought it was really good. Jesse Eisenberg did a great job, and I liked that there wasn't a very conventional structure to the film. The dialogue was very sharply written as well.

We talked about the Steam stuff on the podcast (episode 15 I think). I had a feeling they would do it like that. It's a bummer since I might have pre-ordered it on Steam to get the Signature Edition, but it's really just business on EA's end. Steam is such a powerhouse in the digital distribution world and helping out the other services (e.g. Impulse, D2D, GamersGate) builds better business relationships with them. You can say they're screwing their Steam customers, but I for one know that I'm going to buy DA2 during one of Steam's many ridiculous sales for like $25 and spend (considerably less than) the difference on DLC.

TL;DR It's not very nice for Steam users, but I'm not going to hold it against them since I'm going to buy it on sale anyway.

The new podcast is up! Definitely stick around for the soundtrack discussion even if you don't care much for soundtracks, it's pretty interesting (and I wasn't even on this episode)!

Also, if anyone was having issues downloading the podcast from the RSS feed or iTunes last night, I just fixed the problem so get listening!

I'm never one to listen to rap, especially Kanye (due in no small part to his epic douchebaggery), but his new album is pretty good, especially POWER and Monster.

I read the first two Hitchhiker's Guide books for the first time fairly recently, and they're both pretty phenomenal.

Now I'm reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. The best adjective I have to describe it is haunting, not that it's scary or anything, but the emotion really gets under my skin.

This is my dog:

He died today. He was a good dog.

I just finished Summer Wars (dir. Mamoru Hosoda, 2009). It was phenomenal. It's directed by the same guy who did The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (which was also amazing) and Digimon (which was also amazing, don't lie to yourself).
30  Media / General Games / Re: Catherine from Persona team on PS360 on: August 19, 2010, 06:29:24 PM
This looks pretty great, and if Persona 5 has the same visual style (i.e. character models that look almost as good as their portrait counterparts) I will be a very happy camper. I wonder what the gameplay will be like, though.

On the topic of sex, I agree with Neal that it is represented tastefully. With any luck the game will maintain a similar level of taste and tact in its presentation. Also, the trailer shows a CERO C rating (on a scale of A-B-C-D-Z) meaning the game won't be completely out of control.
