The history of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I'm misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight--or at least firmly crooked.

That's awesome, isn't it?

I may be of the unpopular opinion here, but while like Kaneko's artwork, I'm of mind that it needs to stay exactly that: artwork.  Even in PS2 titles characters some of the characters' face models were starting to look creepy/strange (and not in a good way to fit the games and their themes, especially in the Raidou games).  I imagine a more detailed character model for current-gen or next-gen would be even worse.  I think the new artwork strikes a good balance.

That said. . .I can't see Devil Survivor's character designs working particularly well in 3D, either.

Wait, what? His character designs are awesome and add to the appeal.

Started up Mega Man II today. Made it to Wily's Stage 1 real quick (maybe an hour and a few minutes). It seems much easier than what I remember from the first game. Still, it's pretty fun, though I wouldn't say I prefer it over the first game in any way.

Huh? The first game was jagged as hell. You had robot masters like Elec Man who could 3 shot you from full, you had the robot master gauntlet in the final stage, you had to rely entirely on a single health meter to get through everything, Guts Man's power was useless outside of situational instances with those blocks, and Thunder Beam is almost as broken as Metal Blade is.

Either way though, I still think 3 is the best classic Mega Man.

Well, it doesn't make the game any worse. :P

Trying to save up money for the Twin Cities Marathon registration fee. It's pretty steep for a poor international student like me, and while all my friends find the idea of throwing down 120 dollars to compete in a run ludicrous, I think it's not THAT outrageous of a price for a grand event like that.

That means I have to start training for it proper, soon. I'm not terribly worried though, I've been regularly running for the past 4 years. On the other hand, I did a half marathon last year and I crashed 200 metres before the finish line due to complicated reasons (well, apparently I had somehow gotten drugs into my system, lol). That was a horrible experience, so I'm a little bit afraid of the idea atm, mentally speaking. But oh well, there's 6 months to sort things out. :P At least the nearby neighbourhood is excellent for training (late night runs alongside the Mississippi river, hell yes)!

Dragon Warrior I. Mopped up Gavin's grave and now I have to find some other place to explore. Went further down south, but apparently the monsters there are really kicking my ass.

Xenogears was generally poor anyway, but dear lord did stuff like Babel make it even more infuriating. I mean, really?

Looks pretty cool for a derivative. Does anyone know anything about the script writer? Previous works?

Also, I feel like only Japanese can come up with these all over the place yet somehow fitting English phrases.

My P5 checklist includes: Meguro on music. A darker storyline. And leave P4 characters out. I've had enough of friendship forever rainbows in my Persona.

I agree. I'm not vehemently anti-P4 and while I do like it, a darker storyline (and I don't necessarily means teenage angst, unless it's cleverly implemented) just gives many more possibilities for the narrative in a game that, after all, is about the characters' psychology. I could understand why people would want to keep the light atmosphere if Persona became defined by the social link aspect of the story, ie the slice of life, but I really hope the series doesn't regress into that hole. However, considering the success of the last two Persona entries, the financial pressure upon the development team is probably so great that I doubt they will deviate too much from those at this point.

Can't they just whore out the P4 to oblivion with different side games and ports and porn comics and fund all the other projects from that revenue? Would be nice.

Atlus is working hard on the next Persona -- NeoGAF

Please be excited.

I hope it's dark.

It does seem that Persona series, on the other hand, have been exclusive to PlayStation.

How does it compare to DMC1? Because comparing it to 3 and 4 is unfair, since the original DMC team had years to polish and refine the gameplay, while this is only Ninja Theory's first DmC. If it is as good (or better) than vanilla DMC gameplay wise I'd call it a success.

Well, I don't think the original is such a good point of comparison, either. It might be Ninja Theory's first DMC, but it most definitely is not their foray into the action genre. Considering that Devil May Cry pretty much laid the groundwork for most of the action games in that style, DmC doesn't quite have as much going for it. It's not only the developers of the first game who had the time to hone their craft, it's the industry in general. If anything, the best comparison would be Ninja Theory's previous games (I can't recall what genre Enslaved was exactly, but Heavenly Sword was a GoW clone, wasn't it?).

So I started Dexter a few weeks ago and made it to the finale of Season 4 today. Seriously, what in the name of Buddhas did I just witness?!?!?! It just blew my mind.

Massive regress.

That's pretty much true about gaming as a whole and why most (sane) game devs completely ignore the fanbases.

Exactly. The moment developers start listening to player's advice, all's doomed.
