I like packaging :P

How much is the DLC version if you have SSF4?

Is anyone else buying this game tomorrow? I'm getting it for PS3. kiemofsophos is my handle on PSN. Add me!

I might buy an Xbox version too, we'll have to see the player ratio on either platform.
19  Media / General Games / Re: street fighter 3 3rd strike online edition on: June 27, 2011, 03:24:11 PM
Third Strike is probably my favorite fighting game of all time. EA Canada had an arcade machine with it and I spent countless hours playing it after work and during lunch breaks.

Day 1 purchase for me without a doubt.

I play SFIV but it just doesn't feel as great as Third Strike. Looking forward to playing everyone on these boards who will play it on PS3 :)

21  Media / Brush and Quill / Re: Indie RPG Group Looking For Quest Designer/Writer on: June 25, 2011, 01:20:44 AM

No website as of yet. I'll answer the PM here as I'm sure everyone will have similar inquiries.

The project is already in development design wise. Programming will begin once the game design has been finalized, this should be sometime in July. The main story arc has already been outlined by the writer and myself.

The basic gameplay style is a Turn Based RPG with an Active Turn Based combat system.

The main reason for this job opening is to assist the current writer with quest lines and side quests that are relevant and which adds to the narrative of the characters and world.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but MacGyver, you ever try making something about 10" high?

Just wondering, would be totally cool to see something like that.

I see a lot of games being mentioned for their quality in quests, but are there specific quests you guys can point to that is the embodiment of the ideal elements that make a perfect quest/quest line?
25  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Art of Quests on: June 23, 2011, 08:57:21 PM
So from the sounds of the replies thus far, the wheel isn't broken, people just don't know how to use it properly.

A good story and narrative with strong and meaningful goals make a good quest. That sound about right?

This helps a lot guys! Thanks for input and keep them coming!

I believe that quests are one of the hardest features to master in an RPG.

Reading through old posts on the forum, I came across a thread about stories within RPGs and how important they are.

Well, that leads to a very important question: What kind of quests do you find interesting and fun? And is there any possibility for originality within quests these days?

You have your kill quests, your fetch quests, your escort quests, your collection quests...What else can there be?

Can you come up with interesting and unique quests for a single player RPG?
27  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Dungeon Siege III Demo Out on: June 23, 2011, 02:32:35 AM
There's a lot of cry babies over at rpgwatch talking about DS3 being the continued downfall of the PC RPG and the consolization of the genre.

Dungeon Siege was never known for it's deep customization or role playing facets. Not sure why everyone is suprised that DS3 is a hack and slash loot fest that plays better on consoles. I'd say the only genres that play better on the PC are FPS and RTS games. A gamepad is superior in everyway in most other games.

Err...Dungeon Siege is a PC RPG series. I don't think people are crying about the fact that its a hack and slash. People are frustrated that developers aren't taking the time to make a game play well on all platforms instead of just the consoles. As for your comment about the the genres for Consoles over PCs...I don't know I can agree with you. Diablo is one of the most popular hack and slash RPGs in the industry, and it is PC only. Dragon Age 1 and 2 both play better on PCs (in my humble opinion) and Mass Effect 1 and 2 are also in the same boat for me. JRPGs is better on consoles with a control pad, sure, cause we're used to it. And, if you're going to hang your entire PC < Consoles on the fact that a gamepad makes or breaks certain genres, the Xbox 360 controller is PC compatible, so find another coat hanger :)

Forsaken World is a free-2-play game that just went up on steam that had this pathing towards quest NPCs and stuff...felt so lame.

Runes of Magic also has an auto pilot feature where you can click on anything like quests, NPCs or towns and it'll auto run there for you.

Instead of putting this feature in, they should start thinking quality over quantity when creating the world...If your world is so big and boring that you need an auto-pilot feature...fire your art/design team and start over!
