The last Mario game to wow me was New Super Mario Bros Wii... I hope this one doesn't let me down!

Suikoden's gameplay/battle systems leave something to be desired, pretty basic stuff (I remember just auto-battling all through Suikoden 5 because there was no need for any strategy at all, way too easy). Building your castle/army though and watching it develop from nothing to something huge is where the fun is at.

As for what I'm playing, Disgaea PSP. I think I'm at the final battle... the boss is like LV 90 and all my peeps are under LV65... guess I should grind? I feel like I'm not playing this game how it should be played though (finding ways to level up fast, and I haven't even touched transmigration). I'm gonna mess around more with the Item World, I didn't do much of that throughout the game. Whatevs.

Zelda Oracle of Ages: Picking up where I left off in Symmetry City. Just got the Tuni Nut and the new song that lets me transport between both worlds freely.

Actually, you've only got the time travel equivalent of LttP's Magic Mirror (which only allowed you to freely return to, in this case, the present). It's another reason why I prefer Seasons over Ages where the plot item in Seasons is a little more unique compared to Ages Harp (even if the call back is nice).

Oops, yeah you're right.

Which also reminds me: it's funny how back in the day, there was absolutely no hand-holding or tutorials, but nowadays I think I'm so spoiled from tutorials that I expect the game to tell me how do to everything when first experiencing it. For instance, this new song I learned in the Zelda game, it didn't tell me you have the ability to equip the song on the ocarina/musical instrument/whatever it is. I had to find that out for myself playing around in the menu. Whereas if this occurred in FFXIII, I could expect a 5 minute tutorial on this.

Shining Force is not hard at all... I think the hardest battle is probably Chapter 3 against that Laser Eye.

For music rhythm games, the harder songs are usually the ones that are off-rhythm for me where it's not hitting a bunch of 1/8 notes since it's easier to feel/hear the beat. Songs that have weird/irregular beats usually are more difficult for me than say a fast-tempo song with 1/8 notes.

But yes slow songs do tend to throw me off at times as well.

Doing lots of Pokemon Black Ver 2 post end game stuff. I don't quite care to collect all the Pokemanz, so a couple goals I've set for myself are to re-beat that boss guy on the frigate ship (his party is Lv 72 and whooped me pretty good my first attempt) and to visit all cities/complete all dungeons. There's quite a bit of content to get through.

Theatrhythm: After playing this game for 20+ hours, I have a newfound appreciation for certain FF songs that I never really noticed before, namely Blue Fields. Love that song!!

Zelda Oracle of Ages: Picking up where I left off in Symmetry City. Just got the Tuni Nut and the new song that lets me transport between both worlds freely.

Pokemon Black 2: Beat Pokemon League in one try yay. My entourage consisted of an overpowered Roserade (pretty much used this Pokemon like 50% of the time), Samurott, Probopass, Chandelure, Krookodile, & Altaria. Now I'm debating if I want to continue on with post-game stuff or move on to something different.

I finally purchased a Vita and already have enough games from Playstation Plus to last me for the rest of the year (been downloading free Vita games for months). First up is definitely Zero Escape.

Picked this up today not knowing it even came out along with DDS4! Excited to play since M&L RPG's are consistently high quality!

Just been playing lots of Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy... 100%'ed Series and Challenge modes. I don't even know how I discovered this, but if you play without any armor or skills, you get a Stoic Bonus of +200,000 points which is allowing me to SS and (possibly) SSS songs.

Also had a random urge to play Pokemon so I started up Black Ver. 2 which has been collecting dust. Why am I not tired of these games?

I finished Tactics Ogre a few nights ago, so it's very, very likely I fire up the Wii for the first time in months.  Might even start XenoBlade, which I, uh, bought at launch.

Wish I bought it at lunch. Can't find the game anywhere!

The one thing I hated about this game was how tutorial-heavy it was. Tutorials 30 hours into the game, noooo.

New Super Mario Bros U
Portal 2
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Outland
Pokemon Black Version 2

Chrono Trigger - the sidequest when Flea, Ozzie & Slash when you have to fight them all at once. Maybe it's just that boss battle music that is so badass, but the battle felt so epic.

Finally beat Twilight Princess, only took me 6 years! That makes two games I beat this year... lol
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: So finished FFXII....onto The Legend of Dragoon on: July 05, 2013, 02:29:43 PM
I'm a huge proponent of Legend of Dragoon. If you like battle systems that, like someone said, reward you for mastering it and are skill-based (you have to have really good timing to get the most out of your attacks, like with Shadow Hearts' Judgment Ring system which I also adored), then fighting battles will be fun. Localization sucks and story is generic, but personal preference, I don't care much for things like that in an RPG - I'm more picky about gameplay design.

I tried a replay of this game recently since it was super cheap on PSN. The game does seem to move at a more glacial place compared to what I remember... but I still had fun with it.

The game certainly has its flaws, but I still love this game. :)
