What about the part in FFVII when Cloud has to dress up like a chick to get into Don Corneo's mansion? God, that was freaky! heh heh nice...

Hmm, time bring back this topic!
Overrated:
-Final Fantasy XII: Pretty much one of the biggest dissapointments of all time. Well at least story-wise. The gameplay itself is decent, but not enough to keep playing long enough.
Underrated:
-Wild Arms 4: Well the story is not very original, but the game itself is really enjoyable. One problem: A bit short. (I'm finished this in 24 hours.)
-Tales of Legendia: Maybe, not the greatest of Tales series, but still good game. But the combat and character development, could be better and complex. I totally disagree. FFXII was brilliant and Tales of Legendia was awful. FFXII's seamless combat and exploration was a treat and I thought the story and characters were still better than most JRPG's, even if they don't quite hold up to other games in the series. As for Legendia, I mean the battle system was a giant turd, I didn't dig the aesthetics and some of the voice acting made me cringe.

Watched No Country for Old Men today. Movie was awesome except for the ending, which I hated with a passion. The last few movies I have watched have the left the ending to the viewers imagination and it is really starting to tick me off. Oh well, still a good movie. I wouldn't say there's much to imagine at all. Josh Brolin's character gets killed. Then his wife gets killed. Murderer escapes, Tommy Lee Jones retires and wonders if the world is a good place The End. It wasn't a smack you in the face ending, but an ending nonetheless. On the plane home I watched Juno No Country For Old Men There Will Be Blood (Now *that's* a movie with no ending) Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox StoryIt was a 14 hour flight from Hong Kong to Toronto. I actually thought There Will Be Blood had a decent ending lol. Personal opinion I guess. I just watched it last night. Also watched 3:10 to Yuma, and I love that freaking movie. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe were amazing. Two of my favorite actors.

#2 Final Fantasy II (Not IV for you who continue to number them in the wrong order)
I can understad this one because it was (and still is) a huge departure for the series (much like Zelda 2 was). I first tried it on the GBA version and enjoyed it. Many people hate the stat system, but I didn't think it was that bad. I liked the characters and music, and just plain had fun with it. Many people abhor this game and say it is the worst of the main series, but I disagree.
#1 Xenosaga II
I am kind of one that does this, but people certainly blow this one out of proportion as well. They say the game was awful. The battle system was stupid, the game was too short, and it was too hard. I believe the difficulty helped because if the game would have been easy, it would have been even shorter. The story and characters were also great and made the game worth playing despite some of the shortcomings. It isn't a superb game, but it was a decent one, unlike what many say.
Agreed on XS2. Good game. You are way off the mark on FFII. Waaay off. This isn't just a game everyone loves to hate; it's a game that ought to be hated. Let's consider: 1) the "stat up" system does work ... in other games. It's great in the various SaGa titles. But in FFII, it just outright fails. In the old NES version it was broken. In GBA/PSP versions they attempted a fix, but it's still broken, because magic is useless. The whole end quest is to get Ultima, which turns out to be a crappy spell now matter HOW high you level it. 2) Square Enix themselves let FFII be the butt of FF jokes. I've heard them myself, at E3. I won't say anymore than that. 3) you say FFII isn't the worst FF. If this one isn't, which one is?! main series only, no X-2 or Mystic Quest. FFII is, by far, the worst of the FF games. My least favorite FF is probably 3. Even in the remake I didn't like the story or characters as much as I did in FF2. I'm not saying I dislike FF3, because I still like it, but it could have been better. I still don't know whether I like FF2 better than FF1, but its close.

I dunno about Horror, but the creepiest game I've ever played was Super Metroid. That kicks the shit out of every resident evil I've ever seen. It's creepy because you don't expect it. The whole mood and atmosphere is just a little "off", and every half-an-hour or so, they'll just stick in something freeky, like Crockmire or the Chozo statues, or just a really creepy area. Sure, it's not an RPG, but neither is Castlevania either, so I thought I'd mention it. Oh, and Castlevania's horror vibe is sorta lost with the music, which is killer, but is too uptempo to really get you in the horror mood. While Metroid's music is just ambient and atmospheric as hell. Parts of Metroid Prime creeped me out similarly... though Echos just tried to hard and fell on its face.
Probably the creepiest section of any RPG I've ever played was in the Shinra Mansion basement of FF7, with those "Yin-Yang" monsters. I was playing the PC version, which used to glitch, and the spooky music wouldn't stop playing during the battles. Their movement was just so weird, it would get my heart pounding for some reason. I couldn't play that area at night. At night is the only time I will ever play anything horror related. I love getting scared, its awesome. Metroid Prime was a great game to play by yourself, at night, with the lights off and the sound cranked up. Same with RE1 for the GC and RE4. Ah...great memories. RE5 couldn't be further away :(

Just let it go man. It's got a 100 on Metacritic with 13 reviews, everybody's going to give it a perfect score. Atleast play the game before you nitpick 1 review out of a 100. Actually that 100 is an average and everyone DIDN'T give it a perfect score, so you are wrong. Gametrailers did the right thing with their 9.8/10 because they scrutinize categories. Computer & Video Games Mag also gave the game a 9.5/10 and I see Gamespot doing the same thing (most likely).

In no particular order (well, actually the order I think of them lol)
#5 Final Fantasy VIII
I think it was mainly because it was after Final Fantasy VII, which was universally hailed as one of the greatest games ever by critics at the time, but it was also because they changed quite a bit of stuff. Alot of fans hated the junction system, as well as the fact that you couldn't buy equipment, you had to upgrade them with items from enemies. It also had a huge love story, which some loved and some hated.
#4 Final Fantasy IX
I honestly don't understand this one that much. I loved this game a ton, it was an outstanding throwback. The biggest complaints I have heard are the plot, which I thought was actually a good plot (whatevs), but alot of people also didn't like the soundtrack. I also disagree and think the soundtrack was amazing.
#3 The Legend of Dragoon
Many critics slammed this game because it took so long to develop and they thought it was just a generic rip-off of Final Fantasy. I thought the combat system was unique and fun, but evidently they didn't. Many also complained that the plot was a bad episode of Power Rangers, which I disagree. I guess this is more of a critical hate than fan hate because everyone I have met that has played it adores it, including me.

I'm fine with 1up giving it their highest score because they don't go over every category either. If IGN would have put a 9 - 9.5 on graphics they still could have given GTAIV a 10 because their overall score is not an average, and thats what they should have done...

From what I've read and seen about this game, it's a GTA fan's wet dream. I don't really have any doubts that this game, to a GTA series fan, is probably worth a 10. From what I've read, the graphic rating seems too high, but oh well. Life goes on. I imagine most people would be picking it up no matter what anyway. Regardless, once finals are over I plan to rent it and see for myself.
on a side note: Multiplayer sounds.. interesting. Looks like griefers could have a lot of "fun" on some of those modes. Yeah, I agree the graphics were really the only major part I had wrong with the review, and I still plan on trying the game on my PS3 so...
