1921  The Rest / General Discussions / Kevin Pereira defends Too Human on: August 30, 2008, 03:43:59 PM

OMG what a freaking retard. He clearly has no idea how to review a videogame, hence why he is on a show where they don't review games. I didn't realize he was so stupid.

I'm reviewing it for the site. Haven't got my copy yet, but when I do I will definitely let people know whether they can be turned off or not.

I played Vesperia for a little over an hour last night before I went to bed and Yuri is definitely the coolest main character of the series yet in my opinion. He's not a whiny little loser or an amnesiac trying to recover memories from the start (at least not yet). The voice acting so far is very good. Battle system is typical Tales, as is the setting and music. As long as I like it more than Abyss, I will be satisfied. Now if it can beat out Symphonia, then it would be a true accomplishment for that development team.

One of the worst things about the beautiful and brown MGS4: Frame rate issues.  Yikes.

I don't remember a single time while playing that game where the framerate was down.

It's not, just so ya know.

This game looks sweet. I was impressed by Matrix Software from the FFIII and FFIV remakes. Nice to see them getting a chance to make their own game not based on something they didn't create.

ToV seems to be getting the better scores, and I only have the cash for one or the other.

Guess this means I can stop dragging my feet and go pick up Tales now.

 Whee!

You're basing your judgement off of one measly review by IGN for Infinite Undiscovery. If you trust them that much... well then be my guest. Just saying.

I've already spoken about my hate of this franchise before, but this made me hate it even more. I'm just going to hide in a corner or something...

You know what's crazy, I saw a commercial for this game today on tv. I don't remember seeing commercials for any of Tri-Ace's other games. It's probably just Microsoft paying more money to get the game out there.

Just finished watching Harsh Times. I really liked it. Christian Bale continues to impress me and Freddy Rodriguez acted better than I thought he ever would.

So Dincrest, you're no more part of RPGfan staff members?

I don't see any other one who could preview/review our game, you seemed the only one to love old-school games, and most of all indie games :)

Actually he's still a part of the crew, just not as involved as he used to be.

Well I got the achievement in Too Human for dying 100 times...and I've only played for 10 hours. Now that is ridiculous. Learn how to develop RPG's better Silicon Knights. Not being able to heal yourself except with random heal thingies that pop out of enemies not nearly enough is stupid.

I'm not talking about if you hated Xenosaga II or not. I'm talking about why people think that a score in the 70s is bad for any game.

By convention, 70 seems to be the conditional pass. I'm not just talking about what consumers say, but also what publishers and developers believe. 80 is kinda like the minimum baseline for a successful, worthwhile project (implied by David Jaffe and Harvey Smith too), while anything under that is average, if not mediocre. Below 70 is unacceptable.

I'm not sure why review scores are inflated that way, but someone recently told me that some American states specify 70 as a high school passing grade (as well as the passing mark for other types of tests......it's pretty silly since increasing the standard from 50 to 70 merely shifts a bell curve), so reviewers might be conforming to what gamers are familiar with.

I don't know if it's all of Ohio or just my school, but a 70 is a D-.

70 was a C at my high school.

They're shipping orders on Friday instead of Monday due to Labor Day.  Next-day-air shipping would have the item arrive on Tuesday, the 2nd of September.

I see, good to know. Thanks for the info.
