A little grinding in Disgaea. Most of the people I use are level 40. Probably get 'em all up higher before I proceed with chapter 13.

Dragon Quest 8, uh, massive amounts of grinding.
Code:
Fought Dhoulmagus. Beat his first form, his second one destroyed me.

I need that multiheal spell he has, hopefully for both Hero and Angelo. Well, probably grind more until I get all of the best equipment from Argonia's Bazaar.

The good thing is
Code:
I you beat his first form then die, when you go back to fight him he is already in second form so you don't have to beat the first form again.

1924  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Wall-E ...and Pixar; shifting their demographic? on: June 29, 2008, 10:32:17 PM

And let's not forget, Pixar was responsible for the PG rated "The Incredibles" which dealt with adult themes like midlife crises and identity.  And Cars had themes such as nostalgia and remembering who you are/were, which are definitely more adult themes since a child's not old enough to have the sense of nostalgia that adults have, since there isn't much life to reflect back on.  And the whole theme of toys as playthings versus collectibles was brilliant in Toy Story 2.  I mean, children buy toys to play with them, but adults buy them as investments.  Crazy, ain't it?

I still have to see Wall-E.  I love Pixar.  Every film they've done has been awesome.  My personal favorite Pixar film is easily Monsters Inc. because the concept was so imaginative and the artists could go nuts with the character designs.

Pixar proves that you don't need to dumb down storylines to appeal to kids, nor do you need to have an ultra-serious vibe like Citizen Kane to appeal to adult sensibilities.  Pixar proves that a movie can be both smart and fun.

My favorite Pixar movie is Toy Story 1 & 2 followed by A Bug's Life. They are all great though.

Evidently no one here read this preview of the game from last year.

I love this game, even if the female vocals sound like standard, half-breathy, faux-sultry American pop singers. Meaning they suck. As does the rapping. Come the fuck on. Does that really sound good to people in Japan? Really?

I rill...

BURN MY DREAD!!

"hey, what's up, I am the MC...yeah..."

BURN MY DREAD!!

Man am I lost... I will *assume* that is some of the lyrics to one of the songs in this game, but I don't remember a song like that.

At least Blizzard has a sense of humor... in a sick and twisted way :P

Wait.....what? John, please, see it.

Agreed. Best comic book movie EVER, imo. I've seen it like 5 times.

Rogue Galaxy offered in gameplay and world, but bombed on story and characters. Seriously if i still had the stomach to review that game (when thinking about it still makes me sick), I'd ZERO the story score.

There is NO WAY you could justify giving that game a zero on story because that would mean there was no story... and there was, albeit a poor one.
1931  Media / Miscellaneous Games / New Castlevania! on: June 26, 2008, 11:31:12 PM
I'm way less than excited for this... there are plenty of 3-D fighting franchises that are pretty good and a Castlevania one just doesn't appeal to me.

Soma Bringer also showed off some of his talents.  I loved the Sound Track and it'll be great to see more of his work.  I personally can't get enough.
I do have to agree though. IMO, while it did have its few epic tracks, I thought the rest of the Chrono Trigger album was pretty "meh".

There are two things I'll say about Misuda.
1) He can write beautiful work, these are usually to main themes or important moments.
2) He can't write battle music.

CT and CC are two of the best soundtracks in a game, imo. I loved the battle music in both of them too. Just typing this makes me want to open up Itunes and listen to some songs from those games.

I decided I'd play the bonus dungeon for FFV and got about an hour or hour and a half into it last night... only to lose it all due to the Gil Turtle's suicide attack. Nice that I lose all that progress to a boss that was originally meant to be a challenge where you lost only about 10 minutes of progress at most if you died! Anyways I'll move on to something else now. Probably some Megaman games due to the MM9 announcement.

Megaman Legends! Do it. Do it.

Started FFTA2 yesterday. Played it for about 3 hours. Starts off kind of slow, but we'll see what happens. Also been WoWing it up. My character is now lv. 20 (Blood Elf Paladin). Just so people don't think I'm crazy, I just starting playing this game recently (as in this month).

I'm all up for more Wii RPG's. There certainly aren't enough on the platform that are *good*.
