1981  Media / Single-Player RPGs / FF Agito XIII and PE The 3rd Birthday on PSP! on: August 21, 2008, 10:19:09 AM
They said that Agito is going to build on the battle system from Crisis Core, which is awesome because I really liked that battle system.

25 hours, tops.  I took down Symphonia in 28, and I had more trouble with Symphonia, difficulty-wise.  I never got a game over screen once in TotA.

Holy crap Symphonia took me even longer (in the 60's). How the crap did you beat them so fast?

According to project director Hajime Tabata, this PSP Parasite Eve sequel is going to be a true 3D gun action game. Noting that it will differ from Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus, he described it as a "true third person shooter."

Defeated Tales of the Abyss.  Took me longer than I expected, 31 hours.  I really enjoyed the game; I took a particular liking to Jade, but was able to empathize with most of the characters, which is honestly pretty impressive at this point.

What's next?  The entire opposite of the scale, I intend to finish my Grandia III save from my review.  No characters I can empathize with whatsoever.

Holy crap you beat Abyss fast. You must have rushed through everything because it took me 54 hours if I'm not mistaken. How long did you expect it to take?

Everyone must have some filthy lasers on their PS2s.  I have no problems with loading.

I did not have any problems with loading either.  Not on the world map either.

But, I do remember world map battles to be particularly useless for gaining XP once you get a decent level.  I ran from as many enemies as i could.

There's no doubt the loading is there, it's just whether or not you care and whether it bothers you. There's no way the load times on mine were any different from yours, and I thought they were brutally long (especially on the world map, where I avoided battles like the plague because the loading took WAY too long).

... it's amazing how quickly Konami have literally hurled themselves down the shitter this gen.

What the hell's wrong with you? Only one of those games is even out and it's just following the series norm.

I was about to say the same thing. Plus I love the DS Castlevania's and Order of Ecclesia looks freaking sweet. I have nothing against Konami.

I might be starting a game of Dragon Quest 1.

Fuck yes, do it.

Actually I was playing that game on a slim PS2 (when the game came out) that I had just bought because my fat PS2 I had for 5 years crapped out on me.

The loading in that game was absurdly long, some of the longest I have ever experienced on tbe system. Sad thing was, the graphics were pretty bad too and the game had major framerate issues on the world map.

Also, Mitsuda on music. <3

Alright, that kills it for me right there.

It's pathetic that you have such a hatred for one of the best composers in the industry (imo) that you won't even try a game because of it.
1990  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Vesperia... will someone correct the release date! on: August 20, 2008, 03:11:53 PM
I have it pre-ordered at my Gamestop and they told me the 26th of this month.

Well I got Ninja Gaiden II today. And I have to say I'm enjoying it but it is easily worse than the original. Ninja Gaiden isn't supposed to have fucking QTEs in battle. It's supposed to be lightning fast action with the player in full control. Here, just adding in Obliteration Techniques (QTEs) took away most of the control. Now seeing as how Team Ninja saw they fucked up, they decided to add random projectiles to the game to make it more difficult (read:cheapen) the game. I love being hit by random projectiles from off the screen in every single fight. Most of the time in the original, when you fucked up it was almost always your fault. Cheap things such as projectiles flying your way without you knowing or enemies coming around a corner are not the fault of the player and they add cheap difficulty in place of real difficulty. Though it's still a decent game and gets the adrenaline pumping and as much as I think the QTEs are a bad thing in NG, they still look pretty sweet.

Are you sure your name isn't yahtzee?
1992  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Man, I'm bored out of my mind. on: August 19, 2008, 02:17:19 PM
I actually don't have even close to the amount of time it would require for me to play all the games I have and all of the future releases I want. Main ones for me are The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, Fallout 3, Persona 4, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Dragon Quest IV, Resistance 2, Star Ocean: The First Departure, and Valkyria Chronicles. Those are the ones I know I will be buying, and there are plenty I'm waiting to see if they are worth it.
1993  The Rest / General Discussions / The naming thread on: August 17, 2008, 10:37:10 PM
If there are default names I run with them because like many have said thats what was intended. Now for MMO's or games with silent protagonists that want you to name them, I go with Blace for male (actually came up with it by this method) and if it is a girl I normally give a different name each time (or use the name generator).

Shadow of the Colossus did have slow down, but it felt more like slow-motion.

It seems like everyone in these forums is playing Tales of the Abyss lol.
