If you really want to get into a serious film discussion, i.e., what is a better movie intrinsically, then I think BB was better.

As a movie, it can stand on its own, had a much more engaging singular narrative, the editing and direction were much more solid.

Interestingly, as "popcorn entertainment," I also found it much more enjoyable.

In the same people love Empire Strikes back, however, I think people will love this.

But it's hard to say that ESB is better as a complete film than ANH because ESB can't stand on its own. It doesn't even have an end for God's sake.

This movie also doesn't feel whole or an end--it is a bridge of what's to come...

Also Josh, when you say (top 5 ever) do you mean in terms of your "favorite" or "best"....?

As pure popcorn entertainment, I do agree that BB was better in that respect. I just thought that the character development of the villains and such was better in this movie (obviously Batman had more character development in BB, it was his origin story). The drama in TDK was intense and rewarding for me, much like "The Departed" was. I guess you can say that I thought this movie was more compelling. And by top 5, yes I meant favorites.

As much as I love Batman Begins (in my top 5 movies ever), I think this movie was better. It had better acting (Bale was more confident in the role, Maggie was a better Rachel, and the rest of the cast was ace), a better story, a complex villain, and seriously was just the most entertainment I've gotten out of a movie in years.

Well, seeing as though ME is probably the weakest looking game I've played on the 360, that's probably not saying much. Compared to something like Bioshock or Lost Odyssey, ME was pretty bland and had lots of clipping problems.

Man, you must only play good looking games. ME's no technical milestone, but it's no slouch either.

Agreed. Despite the technical stuff that doesn't run like it should all the time, the game has pretty good graphics. The system can't handle everything that was going on which is why all that crap happens.

Wasn't impressed when I saw it before The Dark Knight last night, but it might have been because I was abhorring anything that was making the wait for The Dark Knight longer.

Beat me to it... but yeah I just got back and agree that it is the best comic book movie ever. And one of my new favorites.
1986  Media / Single-Player RPGs / RPGs you're embarassed to own. on: July 18, 2008, 03:16:06 AM
I'm not really embarassed that I own any of my games. Games I wish I didn't buy though, is another story. Lunar Dragon Song still gives me bad memories. I own Mystic Quest as well, but only paid 5 bucks for it practically brand new with the box & instructions etc...

I never once said it wasn't coming to the States and elsewhere. I just stated that as of right now, it's Japan only.

...but its not Japan only. Gamespot went back and updated the news and said it is confirmed for NA.
1988  Media / Single-Player RPGs / RPGs as coming of age on: July 17, 2008, 11:13:23 PM
My favorite RPG is FFX, and I played it the day it came out. I was 13 at the time. My second favorite is FFVII and I didn't play it until about 2000.

i have a 42" 1080 hd lcd and looking at L.O. on it and mass effect for that matter as well. there are times things look a bit jagged, not quite as clean. now MGS4 on the other hand looks nothing short of perfect.

You're full of shit.  Metal Gear Solid 4 is rendered at 1024x768 and thus has a lot of jagged edge issues due to having to be rescaled for 1280x720 or 1920x1080 displays.  It's even more blatant on a quality 1080p display, like mine.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune kicks Metal Gear Solid 4's ass in the graphics department on PS3 with all the graphical effects, animation, texture quality, and for the fact that its rendered at a proper aspect ratio and resolution (1280x720).  If you seriously can't see all the aliasing issues on Metal Gear Solid 4, your TV sucks or you're blind.

I agree that Uncharted graphics > MGS4 graphics

I'll be going to the midnight showing even though I have school in the morning. Can't wait.

Edit: Also, it currently sits at 94% on RT. That makes it the new highest rated superhero movie over Iron Man (for now).

I would go with the Ogre Battles games versus FFT, they definitely have the most similarities considering the main person left to go to Square and make FFT.

I don't see most people sticking to one genre and never play anything else ever.

Oh, and LO sold 200,000 in its first month here.

And 100,000 copies its first week, supposedly. They were definitely better than Blue Dragon's sales. (65,000 first week, and *maybe* 200,000 LTD in the US)

It's a huge game, it'll sell.

There are a lot of RPG series that don't sell well in this country, but Final Fantasy isn't one of them.  Consequently, I suspect there'll be about as many buyers here for the Xbox 360 version as there will be for the PS3.

Then how come I see so many Xbox 360 owners who hate the living shit out of the FF franchise?

Because all they do is play crap like Halo 3 and Gears of War.

A FEW SB rings? He has ONE, where they beat the Patriots. Lost to the Broncos in his attempt at a second one, and to the Giants last year in the NFC Championship.
