2011  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 4 on: July 04, 2008, 03:54:49 PM
Famitsu gave this game 8, 9, 8, 8 (33/40), for those who care (probably no one, but oh well).

I have the soundtrack.  Its probably the best remixing of your favorite tracks from previous FF games.

The few originals are gold as well.

:)

My feelings exactly. Relevant links for those interested in the soundtrack:

I've had this on reserve ever since I heard the soundtrack back earlier this year. Yuzo Takahashi did a superb job with the transition of classic FF tracks into the game, and still to this day is the best rendition of The Dreadful Fight from FFIV (it's called Leviathan Battle in Chocobo) I've ever heard. Nothing is done different with the arrangement at all, but the quality of the synths used is shocking and represents the first real "step up" I've encountered in FFIV's music in terms of synths.

I read EGM's review for this game and they said it was "an utterly gorgeous best of Final Fantasy soundtrack that will send shivers of nostalgia up any old schooler's spine". Count me in!

Awesome, another DS Tales game we won't get in the US!

i'm guessing this won't be a port - having the FF3 and 4 engine for the DS already, it would be logical they'd use that, no?

If so - i would be excited
If not, read my previous post...

There's already leaked magazine scanes showing 2-D gameplay according to IGN, so its definitely not going to be a 3-D remake.

Dade, you need to stop and change all your stuff. I'm a nice guy most of the time, so you should be glad that Daniel or someone else isn't the one telling you to stop.
2018  Media / Single-Player RPGs / "Countdown Site" = Chrono Trigger DS? remake, new on: July 02, 2008, 01:32:08 AM
I can't believe people are complaining that Square Enix would port Chrono Trigger. It baffles me beyond belief. It's one of the greatest RPG's ever made, and I will gladly buy it because paying 80 bucks for a used cartridge for the SNES on Ebay is freaking ridiculous. And don't even think about telling me to go play a ROM, because I want to OWN the game.

I watched Mr. Brooks the other day. What a weird movie. I enjoyed it for the most part.

While I am on your side with this one Parn, we haven't had any screenshots of White Knight Story for awhile now and I am willing to bet that the graphics have improved since then. I'm sure there will be stuff on it at E3 or TGS since Sony has it releasing in their 08 fiscal year so thats when you should be doing the comparison.
2021  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon on: July 01, 2008, 06:31:19 PM
Just saw that IGN gave the game an 8.4/10. Not bad I'd say.
2022  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon on: July 01, 2008, 03:16:17 PM

God damn, that review is terribly written. Ive read better reviews on IGN.

Whoooosh.

The first comment on that page sums up my feelings nicely:

Man I hope this score is accurate and not just a product of the hype machine.

Seriously, The Dark Knight is one of the most hyped movies ever and it would ridiculous if it came out and it didn't get high scores. All Batman fans seem to want is anger, darkness, and stuff blowing up, and that makes a good Batman movie.

Good trailer is good. Matrix had a good trailer too, and it's not that great of a movie.

Disagree, The Matrix is a great movie.

A little grinding in Disgaea. Most of the people I use are level 40. Probably get 'em all up higher before I proceed with chapter 13.

Dragon Quest 8, uh, massive amounts of grinding.
Code:
Fought Dhoulmagus. Beat his first form, his second one destroyed me.

I need that multiheal spell he has, hopefully for both Hero and Angelo. Well, probably grind more until I get all of the best equipment from Argonia's Bazaar.

The good thing is
Code:
I you beat his first form then die, when you go back to fight him he is already in second form so you don't have to beat the first form again.
