Awesome, another DS Tales game we won't get in the US!
2012  Media / Single-Player RPGs / "Countdown Site" = Chrono Trigger DS? remake, new on: July 02, 2008, 02:15:10 AM

i'm guessing this won't be a port - having the FF3 and 4 engine for the DS already, it would be logical they'd use that, no?

If so - i would be excited
If not, read my previous post...

There's already leaked magazine scanes showing 2-D gameplay according to IGN, so its definitely not going to be a 3-D remake.

Dade, you need to stop and change all your stuff. I'm a nice guy most of the time, so you should be glad that Daniel or someone else isn't the one telling you to stop.
2014  Media / Single-Player RPGs / "Countdown Site" = Chrono Trigger DS? remake, new on: July 02, 2008, 01:32:08 AM
I can't believe people are complaining that Square Enix would port Chrono Trigger. It baffles me beyond belief. It's one of the greatest RPG's ever made, and I will gladly buy it because paying 80 bucks for a used cartridge for the SNES on Ebay is freaking ridiculous. And don't even think about telling me to go play a ROM, because I want to OWN the game.
2015  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Recently Viewed Movies Episode 2: The Vampire Bites Back on: July 02, 2008, 12:03:09 AM
I watched Mr. Brooks the other day. What a weird movie. I enjoyed it for the most part.

While I am on your side with this one Parn, we haven't had any screenshots of White Knight Story for awhile now and I am willing to bet that the graphics have improved since then. I'm sure there will be stuff on it at E3 or TGS since Sony has it releasing in their 08 fiscal year so thats when you should be doing the comparison.
2017  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon on: July 01, 2008, 06:31:19 PM
Just saw that IGN gave the game an 8.4/10. Not bad I'd say.
2018  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon on: July 01, 2008, 03:16:17 PM
It comes out next week, does anyone plan on getting it?

God damn, that review is terribly written. Iíve read better reviews on IGN.

Whoooosh.

The first comment on that page sums up my feelings nicely:

Man I hope this score is accurate and not just a product of the hype machine.

Seriously, The Dark Knight is one of the most hyped movies ever and it would ridiculous if it came out and it didn't get high scores. All Batman fans seem to want is anger, darkness, and stuff blowing up, and that makes a good Batman movie.

Good trailer is good. Matrix had a good trailer too, and it's not that great of a movie.

Disagree, The Matrix is a great movie.

A little grinding in Disgaea. Most of the people I use are level 40. Probably get 'em all up higher before I proceed with chapter 13.

Dragon Quest 8, uh, massive amounts of grinding.
Code:
Fought Dhoulmagus. Beat his first form, his second one destroyed me.

I need that multiheal spell he has, hopefully for both Hero and Angelo. Well, probably grind more until I get all of the best equipment from Argonia's Bazaar.

The good thing is
Code:
I you beat his first form then die, when you go back to fight him he is already in second form so you don't have to beat the first form again.

2023  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Wall-E ...and Pixar; shifting their demographic? on: June 29, 2008, 10:32:17 PM

And let's not forget, Pixar was responsible for the PG rated "The Incredibles" which dealt with adult themes like midlife crises and identity.  And Cars had themes such as nostalgia and remembering who you are/were, which are definitely more adult themes since a child's not old enough to have the sense of nostalgia that adults have, since there isn't much life to reflect back on.  And the whole theme of toys as playthings versus collectibles was brilliant in Toy Story 2.  I mean, children buy toys to play with them, but adults buy them as investments.  Crazy, ain't it?

I still have to see Wall-E.  I love Pixar.  Every film they've done has been awesome.  My personal favorite Pixar film is easily Monsters Inc. because the concept was so imaginative and the artists could go nuts with the character designs.

Pixar proves that you don't need to dumb down storylines to appeal to kids, nor do you need to have an ultra-serious vibe like Citizen Kane to appeal to adult sensibilities.  Pixar proves that a movie can be both smart and fun.

My favorite Pixar movie is Toy Story 1 & 2 followed by A Bug's Life. They are all great though.
