40 hours into Person 4 Golden.

Code:
Just got to the dungeon to rescue Naoto. After spending the last 5ish hours with no fighting and just dialog after they thought Mitsuo was the killer...yeah that practically killed me! I hate the pacing in this game at times. I know you can go back in and grind for some levels etc... but if I'm not progressing the story what is the point! Does anybody have a rough estimate on how much longer I have in this game (without spoilers obviously). It is starting to test my patience a bit.

Different writer I believe. I love DA:O Anders!

Remember how if you were a mage in DA2 nobody really gave a crap even though mages were supposedly the antichrist in Kirkwall?

Even funnier when
Code:
the Templars in the last act were asking for my aid to kill every single mage in the city. (I was a mage)

Stuff like this I did not experience on my playthrough because I was a warrior, but it gives me better perspective on why some people rag on the game.

I totally forgot about Meryl. She is easily the worst. Fenris at least is kind of cool and goes along with whatever you say despite his hate of mages... Meryl is just dumb. Varric and Anders were my favorite. I played Awakening right before this so I had to use Anders. I was a little disappointed in his actions at the end, but I couldn't blame him.

To be fair, there doesn't seem to be a single mage in the Dragon Age universe who doesn't resort to blood magic at the drop of a hat.  Guess the templars were actually right all along...

This is so true!

I recently was playing through Dragon Age 2 because of my low expectations, mainly because of reviews. I am really enjoying it. Except for "companion armor'. I really hope they do away with that.

As far as bows go I knew warriors and rouges could use them. Seems weird to make that a bullet point. Seems like a Madden tactic. You would think they were apart of......... EA. LOL that is a pretty good way of advertising. Perhaps they mean you can switch between the two.

Glad to see someone else is enjoying DA2 as well. I just beat it about a week ago and really liked it.

I kind of cheated today I looked up the other companions because I want to rock with another warrior lol. I can't wait to find that slave elf.

I really wanted to play it because it ties into 3 with the reoccurring characters.

Fenris was actually one of my least favorite characters because of his hate for mages. Especially towards the end of the story. I won't spoil it for you.

DRAKENGARD 3/ I can't believe I'm following through with this game considering how turned off by it I was initially. Almost at Chapter 6 and totally hooked. The gameplay really does prove addictive in spite of the repetition once you get the hang of which weapons you like to use in combo with one another. Narratively speaking, I just have never really played anything like this. The script of this game is so blatantly offensive, leaving no room for sympathy yet I've somehow ended up caring about and appreciating Zero a great deal. In a shallow sense, I've found other members of the cast to just be cool or weird enough to prove memorable. I like the way the game sort of drives home just how wicked and disgusting just about EVERYONE is! I feel like ultimately it really pokes fun at human nature in a satirical way. I'm probably reading too much into it though.

Otherwise, in my efforts to occupy my time from now til Xillia 2 and clear some "gaming Kharma" I finally arrived at a lovely foil to my action-ee time with Drakengard. This is BIG for me guys, as I never have had the patience/drive to move into post game anything really. Well its finally time to give it a go I think, as I've been CRAVING some strategy... Post game Disgaea here I come! LoL

To kick it off I re-made/re-named my team.

Please don't be offended if you are not in the list, or now a prinny.

Truly, the naming was pretty random. I already had Klyde, Tomara was obvious and then everyone else was pretty much just a matter of going down the list and re-naming. Although for some reason I felt it very fitting to make Dice the Archer and Dincrest the Monk.....

I figure I'm just gonna dibble and dabble in post game Disgaea and maybe X-Com Enemy Within until Xillia 2 comes out instead of trying to squeeze in a play-through of something else. There is certainly enough content in either to comfortably fill the void I believe.

I feel special now since I was named a character! haha

Still going through Persona 4 Golden. Just did the high school camp on the mountain. Some funny scenes for sure. I just hope something happens soon. It has been more than 2 weeks in game since anything related to the story happened.

15 hours into Persona 4: Golden and it's starting to get repetitive. This is the same problem I have encountered on my original playthroughs of Persona 3 and 4 on PS2. I love the dungeon crawling (more so in Persona 4) and the sim elements are nice as a break, but when it gets to be nothing but sim elements for awhile because of story related parts or because I need to improve other aspects of my character other than level up I start getting bored. This is why I probably spend more time than most people inside the TV battling shadows. I still really like the game, but I have to take breaks alot during gameplay. I usually don't have to do that with other games.

It didn't make sense under any context. Art assets were blatantly re-used. The truth is that DA2 was a spinoff game made into a full sequel.

Art assets being re-used was a shame, but only being able to travel Kirkwall and its surroundings made sense for the story. Becoming the champion and forging the city the way you want through the decisions was really cool and I got really involved with everything the city had going on. It was more intensified than the story in the first one, which was more about the lore and exploring Ferelden. They both had strengths and flaws in them. DA2's were just easier to spot because it happened to be things that people loved about the first game that they changed or cut. Anyway, I totally disagree with your comment that it was a spin-off and not a full-fledged sequel, but we are derailing this topic so I'll stop.

I've been going back and forth between Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on PS4 and Persona 4: Golden. I'm enjoying both, although I didn't realize how short MGSV: GZ really was. I saw all the reports that you could beat the main mission in an hour, but I assumed that was just crazy people that knew exactly where to go and were fantastic at the game. I was wandering around aimlessly forever and had no idea what I was doing and finished it in a little over an hour. Luckily there's plenty of side missions and extra ops too or this would not have been worth the money. I gathered all the XOF patches and rescued the prisoner so now I need to do some side missions.

As for Persona 4: Golden, loving this game (again). I never beat the original PS2 version, but I got a good 40 hours in and just stopped randomly. I like all the new additions, especially the cool network features. I have a feeling I will be sinking tons of time into this one. Plus, trophies this time!

I don't know why, but I just get this weird feeling that this game will get the EA treatment and end up falling flat like DA2. Hope I'm wrong because its about time Bioware stepped up and started fighting for the belt again. Now, I will admit that I only played the demo of DA2 (which I REALLY disliked, but hey, I didn't like the Uncharted demo either and ended up loving the full game. However, at least Uncharted got a lot of praise to suggest that there might be more to it while DA2 got mostly panned for being a rushed cash in). I'll probably give it a go if I dig it up in a bargain bin some day, but for now I'll go by my first impressions and the general consensus.

I actually really enjoyed Dragon Age 2. Most of the hate is because they streamlined tons of features compared to the first game and there was only a handful of areas to explore, but it made sense in context of the game and story. It did alot of things better than the first game, but I don't feel like making a list right now.

I finished up Mark of the Assassin and I did not enjoy it very much. The beginning where you hunt for the wyvern was the best part. The stealth section was terrible and buggy. I would throw the rocks and the guards would walk over there and then teleport back to their normal spot and catch me. I hated it. The story also was pointless. To me, that was not worth 10 bucks.

Finished up the Legacy DLC for DA2. While I enjoyed the story and setting, 2 hours of gameplay for 10 bucks IS NOT worth it. I even did the three "side quests" that take all of three seconds to accomplish. I decided to try out Mark of Assassin and downloaded it. Going to start it tonight.

Also, as for this Mistwalker talk that I missed: I'm in the minority of Blue Dragon > Lost Odyssey mostly because Lost Odyssey was one of my most disappointing games I've ever played since I was so hyped for it. It's not bad, but I expected it to be better. Like others have said, the battles got boring and long too quickly and outside of the amazing stories from the dreams, the overall plot is lacking. Blue Dragon doesn't really have a good plot either, but I didn't take it as seriously and managed to enjoy it more. It also was just more fun to play for me than Lost Odyssey was. Either way, don't expect anything other than decent or mediocre because you'll be disappointed.

Was planning on playing Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn today, but sadly it isn't getting a preload like it was supposed to, so I might not actually get to play it till tomorrowish due to download times. Dammit Sony. x_x

Just beat the story in Dragon Age II. That was a damn fine game, I don't get the hate. Sure it could have used larger areas and more places to explore because it gets kind of tiresome going to the same places over and over, but I really did feel like I had an influence over Kirkwall and watched it evolve over the game based on my decisions. It was really neat. Same goes with the characters. They relationships with them really sold the story and setting for me. These are memorable characters (maybe even more so that the first game). The story is awesome too and should have major consequences either way you go about it in the next game. It does feel more like an action game than RPG at times, but Mass Effect does too and I don't think it's a bad thing. I just think that's why RPG purists prefer the first game. I like them about the same, but for different reasons. I like this one because it has a better quest system, better menus, better graphics, and much less confusing item and crafting system. I like the first one for its exploration, mythology, and overall plot. They make a good one two punch. Can't wait for Inquisition! I can finally go watch some trailers without fear of spoilers haha.

Question for my Dragon Age friends: Any of the DAII DLC worth getting? I looked into Mark of the Assassin, but it just looks like a Felicia Day fangasm that has no effect on any of the story at all. I barely even know who she is anyway.
Glad you enjoyed it.  Out of curiosity which faction did you side with at the end? Now for DLC, I would say that all of the story DLC are worth playing....with some caveats. The Exiled Prince would have been worth it had you gotten it before hitting chapter 3, at this point thought I don't think you can actually run through it now so actually pass on it. Legacy is a must play as it has a major major revelation in it which there is some speculation may be leading into DAI. I recommend brining your sibling and maybe Anders along if you can. Mark of the Assassin is enjoyable, but it is more of a story about Tallis than Hawke. So if you don't care about Tallis, then it will not be worth it,

I sided with the
Code:
mages because I hated Meredith haha. I was shocked when Anders blew up the place and I was the reason he was able to do it. I'm curious what happens if you don't let Anders into the chantry and distract the Grand Cleric. Does he still get in their somehow or what? I was annoyed Fenris turned on me, but I expected it. I doesn't seem to matter what you choose because I had to fight both Orsino and Meredith at the end anyway.

Thanks for the recommendation on DLC. I was annoyed when I found out I missed out on an archer character. I always wait to play DLC after I beat games, but of course this one should be played early so that the character gets added into the story. OF COURSE. I always wondered why I kept finding useless bows everywhere that Varric couldn't equip, and now I know.

Just started Act II in DA2. Played for about 18 hours so far. I'm enjoying this quite a bit even if it isn't quite on par with the first for me. It kind of sucks being limited to just Kirkwall after the first one had so much exploration. I'm enjoying the characters and story though.
