The history of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now so complicated that every time I tell it I contradict myself, and whenever I do get it right I'm misquoted. So the publication of this omnibus edition seemed like a good opportunity to set the record straight--or at least firmly crooked.

Finished Final Fantasy IX last night.  That game was pretty lighthearted and fun.

I thought FFIX was the darkest FF game :(

I absolutely loved your analysis on FF8's plot, so I'm curious why you think FF9 was dark.  I don't disagree, I think I can see a lot of what you mean (Black Mages, Terra-ians, Kuja himself maybe, certainly his reign of destruction before Kuja's own death sentence was given).

FFIX can certainly get dark at times, much like most of the post FFVI games in the series, but there is no way that FFVIII isn't the darkest in terms of plot. Growing up playing that game, the sorceress' even freaked me out along with the brilliant soundtrack.

Anyway, now up to 50 hours in Fire Emblem: Awakening and still going strong. I absolutely love this game. I haven't spent this long playing a game in years. Definitely my favorite RPG of recent times. I'm on chapter 23, but keep getting sidetracked with all the support stuff, marrying characters, and grinding out levels & skills.

Yeah, I think I'm done with this game. Chapter 6, the story is absolute ridiculous nonsense. The dialogue sucks and is full of incredibly awkward jokes that I can only assume are the fault of the translator, and the character interactions are incredibly shallow and meaningless. "ARE YOU SHOCKED BY MY BEAUTY?" "NO BUT YOUR SHIRT IS WRINKLED PLEASE FIX IT". Everyone is an anime trope, and not even a well-done anime trope (TALES OF THE ABYSS WOULD LIKE A WORD WITH YOU, INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS). I can't give a shit about the combat because I don't give a crap about any of the fifty million characters the game keeps throwing at me. Pretty cutscenes, though.

It's funny because I'm finding this games story and characters enjoyable enough, but I couldn't stand the horrible cliches of Tales of the Abyss.

Anyway, I'm approaching 50 hours of playtime with this game... I can't remember the last time I spent this long on a game and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Will probably pick up my pre-order tomorrow morning. Won't touch it till I'm not playing Fire Emblem anymore (which should be soon). Reviews are on the positive side for the most part, so I am looking foward to playing it.

im gonna have to disagree. i dont know many FFT fans that also play fire emblem. at best FFT fans played the FFTA series and maybe tactics ogre LUCT.

This is sooo wrong. FFT was the first SRPG me and many people I know played and remains the sole reason we even got into the genre. Like someone said, it opened the door so "pioneer" is the perfect word. FFT is in my top 5 games of all time and I played Fire Emblem BECAUSE I heard it was similar to FFT. I've now played through all the FE games that have made it over here and it is one of my favorite series. They played differently, but FFT and FE take far more skill than the NIS SRPG's.

I've been waiting on this forever, seeing as it is my favorite game and all, so I'll buy this 10x over haha. That's honestly not much new, but any news is better than no news.

FFT this isn't even close in my opinion.

If it is a game like Valkyrie Profile or Castlevania where there's multiple endings that you have to do certain things in the game to get certain endings then I will look. Otherwise, I only look if I am truly stuck and just want to get on with the game.

But what's funny is that they have a very good condition copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga that I asked them about.
Apparently some kid traded it in for a Wii-U, which strikes me as an absurd thing to do. They're asking $275 for it now.

Maybe he wanted someone else to be able to play it.

Or he somehow got it on the cheap and was just flipping it, which is why I kind of regret not picking up Shining Force 3 when I saw it in Michigan for 30 dollars. Not interested in the game but I could've made a profit.

...

Do you have to declare money made from flipping antique games on your tax returns?

Technically everyone is obligated to report every dollar made, but unless you are a well known person and they had proof then I wouldn't worry about it.

I find its popularity a little baffling.

It's popular?

... Or maybe you mean the fact it has fans at all?

...hides in the corner quietly... I liked Rogue Galaxy

I have unfortunately never played Skies of Arcadia, but I did like Rogue Galaxy. Nothing amazing obviously, but I found it a solid and worthwhile RPG.

I was consideing buying the Golden Gaffe when I saw it last night on my game. I bought the first 3 DLC maps and beat them all (the 3rd champions of lore DLC map gives you an item that teaches a +2 to all stats skill which is amazing so I'm beating it a bunch of times so all my characters have it).

Controller leaked.  Though it's just a prototype, so it might different from the final version.

Still, Sony can't keep anything secret.

Doesn't look a whole lot different than the dualshock. I honestly don't think they need to ever change the controller. It's always been my favorite since the PS1, but as long as it's not a boomerang I think we'll be ok lol.

I absolutely loved Legend of Dragoon. I thought it was too harshly criticized by critics back in the day and I still think that. Luckily Neal liked it too haha.

Don't let him get to you Taelus. Its just his way of playing, and besides, the kind of run he's talking about involves a lot of rescue skipping, save scumming for good sparkle title drops and lucky boss killing crits, DLC hires/shops, Streetpassing an old Avatar into a new game (highly likely in fact), abusing renown bonuses, and heavy leaning on Nosfertanking/S ranked supports/Galeforce shenanigans at the very least.

In fact, the run in that pic most likely involved using a Streetpassed maxed out Avatar by purchasing her (has to be a her since the Avatar cannot get Galeforce any other way) with the funds that the Ultimate Emblem gives you (the maximum amount you can hold) to solo the game while carting Chrom along for seizes and other miscellanies.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone could find that fun.

So my marriage of Lucinda and my unit worked and it's certainly cute, but inside I feel kind of disturbed (you'll know what I mean when you get farther in the story if you are lost). I've been playing on hard classic and have only let 1 character die so far through the whole game and I'm up to chapter 18 (plus I didn't really need the character). I'd say that is pretty good.
