I slightly preferred Rise over Dawn, but the series itself has been a pleasant surprise. I was never into Planet of the Apes and these films have me looking forward to each new installment. Curious Case of Benjamin Button is one of my favorite films. I just love the journey that character goes through and how the film shows us how every little decision can end up affecting so many different people.

Unfortunately, some of the lore just got me more confused because I haven't played Birth by Sleep or Chain of Memories. I think I'm going to play Birth by Sleep HD next to understand Dix and Xemnas a little better, followed by Chain of Memories. Saving that one for last because I still am not looking forward to the card crap. Probably will just play it on easy. Everyone let me know if this is a bad idea or if I should play Chain of Memories first.
If you have lore questions feel free to ask here or in PM. I know KHs lore inside and out for the most part, and I would love to help you make sense of the lore.

As for order, I would say that you should play CoM before KH2 and I would probably put BBS after KH2. If you aren't planning on replaying KH2, then I'm not sure there is a need to play CoM as I don't recall there being much new in terms of overall lore. CoM is mostly there to explain why Sora was missing for the 358 days between KH1 and KH2. Meanwhile, the Reverse Rebirth portion is primarily there to advance Riku's storyline, which then got ignored in KH2 as they decided to change where they wanted him to be or something (which is slightly disappointing since I love where he ends up in Reverse Rebirth). I mean there are some mysteries introduced, but if you have played KH2 you should know the answers to all of them already. If you do end up skipping CoM, I would recommend looking up what the exterior of Castle Oblivion looks like, as Castle Oblivion does come up again in the lore (although it is not named during that appearance).

Side note, took me a while to realize you meant DiZ when you said Dix. You really won't learn anything about him in BBS. Everything you learn about DiZ occurs in the KH2 Ansem reports and KH2 itself.

Speaking of BBS, I beat it last night, secret episode and all. All that is left for me now is destroying the four post game bosses three times over.....oh god I just know in my gut that No Heart is going to make me cry many times today. I'm sure Unknown will make me cry several times as well. *sigh* the shit I go through for 100%.....oh fudge I forgot about that infernal hell spawned rhythm game I still need to address. Why did they need to attach a trophy to that hell spawn. >.>

I don't remember much of KH2 so I'll end up replaying it. I'll make sure to play Chain of Memories first this time.

Finished up the story in Dragon Age Inquisition this morning (110 hours of playtime total) so my next goal is making sense of the Kingdom Hearts story since it has eluded me since I finished Kingdom Hearts II back in 2006 and I just got the second collection in HD. I never played Chain of Memories because the card based gameplay was a complete turnoff. I beat Kingdom Hearts HD last year and went through and watched all the cutscenes from 358/2 Days today. That story was actually pretty good and added alot to my understanding of the second game. I remember not liking the game itself and watching it today I was like "yeah, I'm so glad I don't have to actually play all these sections that are just pointless padding in the form of missions". Got Tales of Hearts R for Christmas and since the PSN servers and the Dragon Age servers have been down for over a day now and I was about to beat the game I just went ahead and started Tales while I wait for those to fix. It's pretty solid so far. The Japanese only audio really throws me off because I'm not one of those people that plays with the original audio if it is available. I actually find it really lazy that they did not do English voice acting, but this is obviously better than not getting the game at all. Characters are pretty lame so far, but the combat is good and I like the soma system. This sound more negative than I intended. I really am having fun so far haha.

Indy Public Library just gave all of their employees Christmas bonuses for the first time in it's history.

an even more curious development is that everyone gets the same $500, regardless of position.

This would actually make me incredibly happy if it wasn't such a blatant attempt to obfuscate the fact that our management is currently in a labor dispute with our union...

The higher ups want everyone to get a 2% raise, and the union wants a dollar an hour. 2% would mean that the higher ups get about 3500 a year extra while the peons get around 750, but a dollar an hour means we all get about 1000 more.

You can all see where this is going...

MAKE A HUGE DEAL ABOUT EVERYONE GETTING THE SAME BONUS THEY DIDN'T ASK FOR (and will never get again), AND THEN USE THE GOODWILL TO MASK THEM QUIETLY PASSING A RESOLUTION TO GIVE THEMSELVES A HUGE RAISE AT THE COST OF THE REST OF US!

bunch of slimy fucks

Wait, you work at the Indianapolis Public Library!? I work about 30 minutes away at the Lebanon Public Library. I'm the manager of the Audio/Visual Department. Our management is going all over the place too trying to find a new director.

The Crestwood Dragon is definitely the glitched one. I beat it twice and it never counted. Went ahead and did the Abyssal Dragon quests in the Western Approach to fight it since it was the next easiest after the Crestwood Dragon on my playthrough from 60 hours ago. Beat it and the trophy finally popped. FINALLY!

I wouldn't mind replaying through Devil May Cry 4 with trophies this time. I really liked that game. I still have my collector's edition tin for PS3. As for DmC, as much as I loved it more than most, I can't say I will buy it again.

Killed 11 dragons now and still no trophy... seriously Bioware fix this shit.

Yeah, I feel like I'm being punished for my archer rogue inquisitor.  He's basically a liability during a dragon fight, and his AI is pathetic at times.  He just stood in front of the dragon during a flame attack and got roasted a minute ago.

Is there a safe zone during the flap attack?  I feel like most of my problems would go away if I could manage that damn pattern.  It doesn't seem to do any damage up close, but that kinda defeats the purpose of putting an archer in the back lines.

Yeah the only place safe when they do the flap attack is pretty much being on top of them.

SOON...the non-stop Christmas music, and Christmas TV specials, will be at an end. My wife listens to, and watches, this stuff endlessly, from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I can stand very little of it, and make myself scarce as a result. I don't mind people enjoying the season and all that, but I prefer a much more subtle and quieter version of it. Plus, I'm more of a Winter Solstice/Axial Tilt kind of guy.
I work(sort of. It's kind of quiet in a landscape office this time of year) up until Wednesday, then am off until the 5th. Hopefully, I'll be able to work in plenty of gaming time in there.

I'm totally with you. I enjoy Christmas, but hate having it shoved in my face at every turn by people. I want to enjoy it, but when all I hear is christmas music and the only thing on any tv is cheesy christmas movies I have to be a scrooge about it haha.

I'm kinda loving all the different characters you can find this time out. It kind of feels Suiko-like. I just got that Iron Bull dude last night.
I keep reaching the inventory max, and have to head back to a town to sell stuff off. This is kind of annoying, but I'm not sure what the solution is. I upgraded it once to 72 or whatever it is.
I find myself still afraid of dragons, and haven't attempted to fight one yet. My main dude is level 9.

There's another perk upgrade that increases the max from 75 to 90, but other than that yeah there is not much of a solution. I find myself just selling everything I don't need at every opportunity. It's not like there's items in the game that you need to keep that you can't make yourself at some point anyway. The first dragon is level 12 and that is the Hinterlands one, so I wouldn't go near any at your current moment haha.

Stephen and I had a huge argument about the dragon battles the other night.  I personally hate them and find that they're pretty weak on the design front.  Yes, they are quite difficult, but a lot of that difficulty comes from some cheap design.  The dragons that put a lightning aura on you, for example, cause instant damage, can't be dispelled when you know it's coming (unlike other spells in the game) and target every character on the battlefield.  It's like Bioware is saying, "Here's an unblockable, undodgeable, massive attack that's going to do some damage to you no matter what.  Have fun!"  My melee guys continually clip through the dragon's legs and spend most of their time running around instead of actually attacking.  Not too big of a deal since they can soak a ton of damage, but I find it massively annoying.

And that windflap attack....  GOD, THAT IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING IN THE WHOLE GAME!  Again, another instant hit attack that throws all of your tactics out the window, and you have to just pray your mages and rogues can survive the massive damage.

I know I have a tendency to rage in a game, but Inquisition's dragons just seem lazy to me.  I find it lazy to give them all of these different perfect attacks and no proper way to deal with them.  Back to the aura thing for a second, but why doesn't that behave like the fade rifts?  You see the aura as it begins to take shape on your character, so why not let players dispel it at that moment, rewarding awareness and tactics?  Instead, I tried to dispel it and found I had to wait until it actually took effect before anything could be done.  It's almost like the game taught me how to play the game and then said, "Fuck You" when I tried to follow through.

I actually find myself disagreeing with you, but it might just be because I was a warrior. My opinion could change if I was a different class. Regardless, the wind flapping attack is actually rather useless against me. I'm already on top of the dragon wailing on him so all it does is give me an opportunity to keep swinging for awhile. It usually sucks in my party members who are attacking at long range, but I never did so much damage that they were critically injured or died. As for the lightning aura you are talking about that damages everyone: I found it annoying yes, but I countered it by maxing out the electrical resistance potion and found it to be rather useless after that as well. It barely did any damage after that. I suggest that if you are still having trouble.

I'm so over the glitched trophies this is getting ridiculous. Not only did my killing all 10 dragons trophy not pop, but my trophy for getting 10 agents hasn't popped and I have about 15. This is getting so dumb.

IF you didn't get the 10 dragons trophy, you'll need to reload a save game before your last dragon kill and kill it again. You should get the trophy then.

I will do that after I beat the game. My last save before I killed all the dragons was 50 hours of gameplay ago...
43  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Age 3 on: December 20, 2014, 11:18:57 AM
Maybe it only applies to those playing on Extreme difficulty?

I don't think so. I've done some research and I guess it doesn't pop for some people unless they get like 15 agents. I guess I will have to get some more and see if it pops for me. The dragon one the only thing you can do is restart and kill another dragon because for some reason 1 of the 10 doesn't count or reload an earlier save and kill the same dragon again.

Up to 104 hours in Dragon Age Inquisition. I have 42/51 trophies, but two of mine are glitched and did not pop (kill 10 dragons and obtain 10 agents) so I'm going to have to do another playthrough to get the platinum. It's just really annoying that there's so many glitched trophies (2 others I have can be glitched and not pop as well, I guess getting 2/4 is alright but still ridiculous). I've almost finished the story (I'm on the final mission), but trying to complete all my inner circle quests before then. Other than the glitched trophies I have really loved this game.
