Played a decent amount of FFV over the weekend. Up to 25 hours, have all 12 legendary weapons and went through and got the summons (Leviathon, Odin, Syldra, Phoenix and Bahamut). None of the summon battles were hard at all. Bahamut didn't even damage any of my characters and only took 3 turns to kill. I'm level 42. Think that is good enough to tackle the final dungeon and beat the game?

Played some FFV on my iPad and iPhone (the cloud save between the two is fantastic!) this weekend and am up to 17 hours of playtime. Just finished Exdeath's castle. That battle with him took me like ten tries and messing around with different job combinations before I beat him. I literally had not struggled this whole time and he just hit me like a two ton truck. I was cursing and screaming for awhile because the battle is so much harder than everything else before it, but I finally figured it out and barely had to break a sweat. This is my first time getting this far in the game and I'm enjoying it alot. I assume I'm getting close to the end, but I could be wrong. I'm only level 30.

You're not there yet. You still have one more world left to go through.

As for speed bumps, I usually find the Crystals in the Living Forest to be the fight that tells me to get my act together for that portion of the game.

Really? I thought that crystal battle was really easy lol. I used the same job's and strategy I've been using for half the game haha.

I think that once he kills his main target, he's willing to be done, but they pull him back in and are like "we're not gonna let this go," so he has to kill the rest of them too.

That's what I thought too. They won't stop coming after him so he might as well kill them all.

Finished the story of Shadow of Mordor. Man those last two bosses were an absolute joke. Easiest things of all time. What a disappointment to an otherwise solid game. Probably going to do some extra stuff in it now and potentially platinum it like Klyde did if I am feeling up to it.

Yeah, I thought they were pretty disappointing too. I did love the last boss of the first zone though with his slow mo walk.

Yeah he was cooler and harder than the final two were.

Yeah I was so mad when they did that at the beginning! haha

I saw John Wick last week and indeed it was amazing, as long as you know going in it is all Keanu Reeves kicking ass and basically zero plot. I went and bought it on Blu-ray just to watch it again. Perfect length and pacing.

Well, since I last posted I watched all the scenes of Kingdom Hearts: Re:coded after finishing the secret episode of Birth by Sleep, which I'm glad I did not play through the actual game because it was a snorefest until the end when things actually starting happening. I then started up Arkham City which I played half way through before when it first came out and then never finished it for some reason. I started from scratch on a new profile and finished it up. Great game, very much looking forward to Arkham Knight! After I finished that up last week, I started Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Taking me awhile to get used to this, but it is fun for sure. Kind of a Assassin's Creed clone a little bit, but Lord of the Rings style.

Don't let Shadow of Mordor fool you my friend. At entry level the game feels rough. Everything seemed dull and enemy swarms of greater than 3 almost proved a certain fatality for me. Within the first few hours I had considered starting a new file because of how much I died and kept dying. Orcs were moving on up and I thought I was getting nowhere in terms of progression.

BUT then a few subtle improvement made slaying captains a reality. Next thing I knew I had runes. Within a few hours of steady rune acquisition I became a force to be reckoned with at the black gate and I wasn't running scared from captains or much else.

I tend to think they did this on purpose. It really provided a sense, more so than in most titles,  that you are in fact becoming stronger and more capable. Just stick with it, don't rage when you die and get discouraged as the power level of sauron's troops rise and COLLECT LOTS O' RUNES.

You are totally right. I was getting swarmed and dying alot at the beginning, but I'm at the second island now and fully capable of taking out anything. Really like this game so far.

Yeah when I was playing the Ventus storyline I had no idea what was going on with Sora and whatnot until after the final episode so going back and watching those scenes is a good idea. I probably should have watched the Re:coded scenes before asking some of these questions. Having Yen Sid tell Riku and Sora they need to complete the Mark of Mastery to combat a revived Xehanort made that 3 hours of mind numbing garbage worth it haha. I'm so glad I didn't have to play that game, it was boring for a majority of it until the end when stuff actually starting happening.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I enjoy wracking my brain on KH lore.

Sounds good. Thanks!

Thanks for the responses guys!

I guess replaying Kingdom Hearts 2 will clear up some of this for me. I really don't remember what happened in that game much since it was what 9 years ago? lol

I was referring to Terra's armor because his lingering will latched onto it when he became Xehanort's vessel.

Did they show when Sora was born that it saved Ventus from having a breakdown? I don't remember that happening. Or maybe it was just explained in some reports I haven't gotten to yet.

Now that you mention that Kairi wasn't in Destiny Islands, I for some idiotic reason didn't really make the connection of which character was her when I was playing through Aqua's story. Makes sense now. Kudos to you!

So this might not have happened yet and could be breaching Kingdom Hearts 3 territory, but has Ventus woken up from his slumber in Castle Oblivion yet? Or will he ever? And if he does or did does it affect Sora's ability to wield the keyblade or anything? This shit is deep. I never expected after playing the first one that this series would get so in-depth.

Code:
Yeah KH2 probably would have helped a little, but oh well.

Lingering Will remains in the Keyblade Graveyard in order to endlessly mistake people for Xehanort and then kill them in cold blood.

It is literally the first or second event shown in the game (context for the scene in some of the reports) although you need to put some pieces together to understand the full implications. At the very beginning of the game, Xehanort is shown dropping Ventus off at the tilted tree on Destiny Islands, intending to let him die there. The game then switches over to Ventus's Station of the Heart where the place is crumbling as he looses himself to Vanitas (as explained by Xehanort to Terra and in some of his reports). Ventus then hears a voice that explains that it is a newly born heart that came to see him because it could tell he was in trouble (or something). The newly born heart then helps Ventus to stabilize his heart so that Vanitas can't take anything more from Ventus. Fast forward to the ending to the final episode where Sora goes to his Station of the Heart based on Riku's advice. When he talks to Ventus, Ventus comments that he knows Sora. The implication being that Sora was the newborn heart that helped Ventus back when Ventus was dying as Ventus never meets Sora in game and Ventus was dying on Sora's home world of Destiny Islands. Might be a good idea to rewatch these specific scenes in the trinity archive.

We have currently not been shown him waking up, and based off what master Eraqus said it should be impossible for anyone but Aqua (who is lost in the realm of darkness) to reach him. If I recall correctly KH3D's ending sequence implies.....something happened to him, but no real indication of what (I assume you haven't played it yet, but I can give spoilers if you want). As for will he ever awaken? Saving the BBS trio is the main goal of Sora and crew post KH2 (well at least until 3D when it becomes more of a step towards their main goal). So yes eventually he should be saved and given his birth by sleep as Ansem puts it.....no freaking clue what that means though. x_x

As for whether Ventus awaking would affect Sora's ability to wield a keyblade, probably not. Sora's keyblade came to him due to Ventus's heart (and the fact that Riku peaced out before it arrived), but Sora is the one who has been wielding it. I mean Ventus's ability was completely unrelated to when Sora reclaimed his Keyblade from Riku in Hollow Bastion as an example. When Ventus awakens, Sora may possibly lose access to his second keyblade since that is Ventus's keyblade.....but at the same time there are at least two instances where Sora/Xion/Roxas have had three keyblades out and active at the same time, so it is possible that Sora somehow has access to a third keyblade different than the one he got on Destiny Islands and Ventus's keyblade, which would allow him to dual wield still once he loses Ventus's keyblade.....no freaking clue where that one comes from though.

Finished everyone's story in Birth By Sleep Final Mix (including the final episode and secret episode). I have myself some questions I was hoping people could answer seeing as I'm in catch up mode for KH3 and this is the first time I've played through it. I'll use spoilers just in case. I also haven't played KH2 since it came out so I'm rusty on what happened in that game.

Code:
So, first question (or I guess remark). Sora basically got his powers from Ventus through their connection? Ventus is potentially inside of Sora somehow? Ansem (who is also DiZ from KH2) takes in Xehanort who has lost his memories? That scene we see with him talking to Aqua trapped in the darkness with her was actually in the future right? They don't explain that very well. Also, Xehanort still has control of Terra's body, so his armor is where? I forgot. I haven't played Chain of Memories yet so If I'm breaching questions they will explain let me know. I also read somewhere that Kairi is originally from Radiant Garden which was in this game, but I never saw her outside of Destiny Islands.

I'm sure I had more questions last night, but that is good for now.
