Watched a couple more films over the weekend.

Spectacular Now -

This is not your typical teen coming of age movie. It's smart, has good acting, and a solid story to back everything up.The only thing I didn't like was I thought it was a little unrealistic in its portrayal of teenage drinking. How could a single parent or adult not realize this guy is clearly an alcoholic and it is ruining his life? The fact that he goes to bars when he is 17 and no one questions it really irked me. Obviously this happens in the real world, but you can't tell me this guy has the entire town wrapped around his finger and no one knows or realizes he is abusing alcohol and taking this girl down with him. Other than that, I really did like the film, but I felt it would have been better served not going this unrealistic route. The chemistry with the two leads is still really good and I believed in their romance and heartbreak, which doesn't happen often in romantic films anymore. It could have been better, but this is a solid little film recommendable to a certain crowd.

Son of Batman -

Not the greatest of the recent animated Batman films, but certainly an entertaining little diversion that fans of Batman can appreciate. It has some pretty cool action sequences that are some of the best animation I've seen in a DC animated movie so far. The story is a little bit thin and the running time is short, but this is brisk and very well paced. Some of the voice acting isn't very good, but others are decent. It neither detracts or enhances the film really. I wouldn't mind a continuation of this story since it is left pretty open ended. If you like Batman I see no reason to not recommend this.

Finally finished up my evil expert playthrough of inFamous Second Son and got the platinum trophy. Not sure what to play next. I'm thinking Batman Arkham Origins which has been sitting on my shelf for half a year unplayed or continuing my half-way done record of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Leaning towards Batman so that I'm caught up when the new one comes out later this year.

Don't know if anyone has heard of this film or not, came out last year.

Passion -

With a talented director and cast I went into this expecting some trashy fun, but it was just trash. I'm on the record in my other reviews stating I hate manipulative movies and this film is one of the biggest offenders in that regard. The plot is ludicrous thanks to contrivances and implausibilities that drove me up the wall while watching. The acting isn't even very good either. Rachel McAdams was clearly out of her depth playing the bad girl and Noomi Rapace is bland. Both of them can and have done much better work in the past. The movie seems to move at a snails pace at spots too, but picks up at the end before the ending makes everything crash and burn. The movie can be nice to look at, but that was really the only redeeming quality I found while watching this. Stay away.

Sweet! Haven't bought it yet because I don't get to play my consoles nearly as much as my handhelds. Definitely will buy this.

Has anyone here played the ME trilogy on PS3?

I was wondering how ME1 ran on it. I've been itching to play that series again

I played through the entire series on PS3 and the first two on X360. I noticed no difference in ME1. They both had bad loading times and graphical pop-ins during cutscenes. The game played fine. ME2 has a glitch that happens when you enter the final area that freezes the system, but you can get around it. Had no problems in ME3.

If I shaved my beard, I would look like I'm 14-15 and I'm 25.

Well, looks like everyone already covered the flaws of Godzilla for me. Saw it last night. I did enjoy it and was satisfied with it, but it could have used more Godzilla and less generic human drama for sure. I don't understand all these people complaining about him being fat.  Didn't care about him being fat at all and seems like fanboy complaining to me and my childhood was spent watching a ton of Godzilla movies. Oh well.

I don't think I've ever had a bethesda bug problem.... I mean during xtra long oblivionathons my xbox froze maybe twice... and that shit just happens.

If you look for them they are there, but if you are just playing the game and having fun like you and I they probably won't pop up. People just like to complain and break the game with stuff Bethesda does not give a shit about. I don't blame them.

I've also been playing the first Mass Effect on the PS3 with my brother. I couldn't get into this game for a laundry list of reasons, but a lot of them have been mitigated now that my brother got me to roleplay Shepard as a Renagade, something I'm not used to. I guess roleplaying really helps with these kinds of games, but I was never good at roleplaying, so having my bro there helps.

Anyways, after doing tons of side quests and being a dick to the entire Galaxy, we just rescued Liara. I used the Mako for most of that Mission. I really feel like I didn't need to use the Mako, but I did. Most of it consisted of me running Geth over.

You know, I think that is one of the things I missed the most from the first game that they cut out of the next two. Obviously the Mako was buggy as shit and broke the game a bunch, but it could be fun too. I feel like if they fixed it instead of axing it completely I would have loved it. 2 & 3 are missing that exploration element the first one had that I enjoyed. Still great games though. Maybe they add that back in the new one they are working on, are at least something similar.

Finally got to watch the second season of American Horror Story (Asylum). I'm behind, I know. I liked it alot. It wasn't as convoluted as the first season ended up being and the acting is very good. The alien bits seemed weird and go unexplained, which is really one of my only complaints. I really liked this. I've heard Coven sucks though. I'll try it out when it gets released on video, but not going in with high expectations.

Cap: Winter Soldier.  Fucking awesome. It really is Marvels "Dark Knight". Easily their best movie.

What?! I thought the movie was solid, but it is nowhere near Dark Knight level. You have to explain this.

Vagrant Story - I keep meaning to play it because I keep hearing the story is fantastic, but I just can't get into the combat.

Forgot about this one. Totally agree! I haven't played for more than an hour because the combat always confused the shit out of me. The game looked really awesome too. Argh. I still have my PS1 copy.

SO.. the question is should I play my PS3 copy I bought on Black Friday last year for cheap that I haven't gotten around to yet... or get the PS4 version? They said there will be a discount for PS3 owners of the game and I have a PS4. Help!

I'm not at all surprised by the announcement (I doubt anyone is), but the Hoenn trilogy is the weakest in the series, I reckon. So while fancy new graphics, new Pokemon, and updated mechanics will help a lot, it won't fix the odd world design and other niggles I have with it. I'm sure I'll get it... but I'm interested to hear more about the changes/updates.

Yeah these ones are my least favorite too. Interested in changes and updates.

I'm ashamed to admit this when so many people in this forum love the game, but I simply cannot commit myself to finishing FFVI. I've tried multiple times. Farthest I ever got was the floating continent. I've restarted like 5 times and always end up quitting about 5 hours in.

Let's see others I have not finished for whatever reason...

God of War III - I loved the first two and bought this the day it came out. Unfortunately, it was during my gaming purge where I was not playing games at all so I played for like 2 hours and have not gone back. Every time I see it on my shelf it haunts me. I really need to finish the story... but new games!

Tales of Vesperia - Also really liked this game. I got about 40 hours in and life got busy and I never went back... and then my brother loaned it to one of his friends and I never got it back.

FFXII Revenant Wings - I was digging this game and got about 20 hours in and college got busy and I quit. Sold it off during my gaming purge and regret it now. Oh well.

The World Ends With You - I didn't love this game like others, but I was enjoying it. Got through the first part of the game and then it makes you do stuff over again or something and I just quit. Sold this one off during my gaming purge too.

Dragon Quest IX - Got maybe 15 hours in and hit my busy college years. This was also a victim of my gaming purge.

As you can tell, most of them were my DS games. I only kept 4 of my DS games. I wish I had all these games back.
