1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FINAL FANTASY XV, This is a fantasy based on reality. on: August 22, 2016, 08:29:21 PM
I'll probably buy the DVD of the movie if and when I buy FF15 once it's out.

A delayed game can eventually be good, but a bad game is bad forever. I don't mind, since FF15 wouldn't be a day-one purchase for me.

If the reintroduced negotiation system is like that in mainline SMTs, I won't mind. If like in the first and both second Personas, I would, given the infinite chat options in the title that ultimately drove me to use a guide to make things easier.

Working on the original SMTIV right now. One of few games I would actually call "rewarding," though I hate how enemies can be fickle at times during negotiation.

Yeah, I'm playing Tom Clancy's The Division right now, and I really want to fucking decapitate the developers. It pisses me off that idiots bitch that titles such as Odin Sphere that have multiple playable characters with different styles are somehow "repetitive" while ignoring the fact that piles of shit like The Division make you fucking redo the same shit over and over if you die, which happens a fuck of a lot. Destiny suffered from the same shit as well, as do the Souls games especially if you don't get your souls back. It fucks me that "professional" reviewers don't complain about this bullshit and thus give developers permission to re-shit the same excrement again and again.

I liked the WonderSwan remake of the first SaGa and the DS one of the second, not to mention imitator The Legend of Legacy, so this I might play in the future.

I found a good grinding spot in the Tomb of the Giants, and figured I can live without Miracles, investing points in pyromancy, which has somewhat paid off thus far and been much safer to work with than going melee against foes.

I've somewhat cooled last time I played a game (talking to my psychologist really helped), and trying a different area, in my case the Catacombs, has actually been a decent strategy, and I beat the boss my first try. Granted, I'm still slightly miffed I lost a couple tens of thousands of souls foraying into the Tomb of the Giants, but I did get a lantern from one of the necromancers in the Catacombs I could use, and I'll probably try two-handing my weapon (still the Dragon's Tooth) when using the lantern as a "shield" when I try the Tomb again.

I saw Allegiant yesterday. I don't remember the book very well despite having read it relatively recently, but I definitely liked the film's atmosphere.

Fuck no I'm not gonna make like a Frenchman and give up on the game. I want to beat it and tell the world how shitty it actually is despite your obvious delusion that it's somehow "rewarding" and a "masterpiece." You cultists are all the same. It fucking sickens me that fantards like you engage in journalistic fellatio and actually reward developers for defecating feces such as Dark Souls while bitching and moaning about games being easy. I fucking know I'm not alone in my opinions. You are the fucking cancer ruining game journalism. I actually wrote a civil critical review on the original Demon's Souls and had it posted on Amazon, and you know what happened? All the rabid fantards bitched and moaned about my opinion and tried to hurt my Amazon reviewer score by somehow idiotically voting that my review was "not helpful," which ultimately led me to pull down my review to salvage my ranking.

Another game that's frustrating me, though not to the extent of Dark Souls, is Arc the Lad II, which I actually feel is a huge step down from its predecessor, given the introduced inventory limit and over-plus-hour moments without being able to save the game (in a previous playthrough, the game froze on me without me being able to save during that time). That shit is unforgivable, and any developer that doesn't let players save their game anywhere, anytime should have their fucking game development degrees revoked.

It just makes me want to vomit when this game's countless apologists gush about how great it supposedly is while downplaying its serious flaws.

After taking all the other suggestions into account, if you're hitting loss after loss and not seeing an improvement, stop and play something else. Come back to the game the next day.

Sometimes that's all I've needed to get past fiendish Souls bosses.

edit: farming suggestions....have you gone after the three forest guardians past the door in Darkroot that opens via Artorias' seal? Those guys are pretty good for building souls quickly.
I'm aware of that technique, but leveling now costs me in the vicinity of 50000+ souls.

You know what? Fuck Sif, I'm trying the Catacombs now instead, and am actually having a somewhat easier time with the enemies aside from the fact that it's fucking easy to get lost given the shitty decision by the fucking Japs that developed this overrated piece of shit not to have in-game maps, which even decades-old titles such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past fucking had. Lazy design, plain and simple.

By the way, would any of you have good farming techniques and locations for someone of my level?

A talisman? I'd advise ditching it - I can't imagine your miracles are too powerful with only 18 faith. Are you only using it for healing? Estus Flasks should be enough, I think. Using healing spells in boss battles rarely ends well anyway. Not sure if you're aware, but you can also upgrade your Estus. If you really want to use pyromancy or miracles, I'd pick one and stick with it.

I know about upgrading the Estus Flask, and only used Miracles for healing anyway, so I can live without them.
