I won't get it right away, but I eventually will.

blah blah blah
Well, whatever the case, the story was still shitty in execution and unmemorable.

Ooooh I don't like the new standard battle music :(
Yeah, since most time in RPGs is spent fighting you damn well better have a good battle theme, or multiple themes. I can think of games that have good soundtracks but poor battle themes, Dark Cloud and Chrono Cross come to mind.

I pretty much liked both P3 and 4 from the start, myself, but agree that the atmosphere of the latter had to somewhat grow on me.

I honestly don't think the first Cold Steel's story was that great, I got flashbacks of Final Fantasy VIII and Persona 3 & 4, and don't remember much of the characters or the plot itself. It really dropped the ball when they referenced the "War of the Lions" and had a character named "Miner Dick." If a character's name sounds penile, it's probably a good idea to change it to something less suggestive. And would it kill to have realistic battle dialogue? The battle system was for me the saving grace, though it would have been nice if one could just turn off animations instead of making the player constantly mash the Start button.

Yeah, I broke my controller due to FFX's sidequests during my first, completionist playthrough. Actually, since the game's sidequests can somewhat break its balance, their difficulty is somewhat justified.

Tom Clancy's The Division - Still hate the repetitiveness when dying, but it definitely has its moments.

Dragon Age II - My OCD side compels me to do all quests I get, and since the game has crystal-clear direction on what to do next, what the hell.

Grand Kingdom - Grinding for the latest story battle, and haven't had too much trouble against enemies whose levels are a little higher, but I hate the ease of friendly fire.

Kingdom Hearts Unchained Chi - I alternate between playing this and reading on my iPad, and it's a good time-waster.

Shin Megami Tensei IV - Obviously made for people native to Tokyo, Japan, since I had a difficult time finding out where to go next at many times.

Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut - Playing this with a translation guide, and I can enjoy the story more.

I thoroughly enjoyed the WSC remake of the first SaGa and the DS remakes of 2 & 3. Didn't care much for the Frontier games, though, with their countless points of no return that could render them unbeatable.

I'll pretty much avoid this game like the plague. I'm normally not picky about visual styles, but this game's is just lol worthy.
39  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FINAL FANTASY XV, This is a fantasy based on reality. on: August 22, 2016, 08:29:21 PM
I'll probably buy the DVD of the movie if and when I buy FF15 once it's out.

A delayed game can eventually be good, but a bad game is bad forever. I don't mind, since FF15 wouldn't be a day-one purchase for me.

If the reintroduced negotiation system is like that in mainline SMTs, I won't mind. If like in the first and both second Personas, I would, given the infinite chat options in the title that ultimately drove me to use a guide to make things easier.
42  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Shin Megami Tensei 4 FINAL on: August 05, 2016, 10:32:21 PM
Working on the original SMTIV right now. One of few games I would actually call "rewarding," though I hate how enemies can be fickle at times during negotiation.

Yeah, I'm playing Tom Clancy's The Division right now, and I really want to fucking decapitate the developers. It pisses me off that idiots bitch that titles such as Odin Sphere that have multiple playable characters with different styles are somehow "repetitive" while ignoring the fact that piles of shit like The Division make you fucking redo the same shit over and over if you die, which happens a fuck of a lot. Destiny suffered from the same shit as well, as do the Souls games especially if you don't get your souls back. It fucks me that "professional" reviewers don't complain about this bullshit and thus give developers permission to re-shit the same excrement again and again.

I liked the WonderSwan remake of the first SaGa and the DS one of the second, not to mention imitator The Legend of Legacy, so this I might play in the future.

I found a good grinding spot in the Tomb of the Giants, and figured I can live without Miracles, investing points in pyromancy, which has somewhat paid off thus far and been much safer to work with than going melee against foes.
