Avoid Rosetta Stone Japanese, it's not very good from personal experience, I tried playing a JRPG after finishing it but only could understand fragments of the dialogue. I'm working on My Japanese Coach now, which I would more recommend.

At this point I'd rather play another version of Persona 4 as opposed to say, Devil Survivor Overclocked or Devil Survivor 2.
303  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Disgaea 4 on: August 30, 2011, 09:51:21 PM
Disgaea is one of few tactical RPG series I actually like, so I'll definitely keep my eye on this onw. Still haven't played 3 yet, though, and I sort of have my eye on the PSP ports of the first two games, as well.

Phantasia SNES is a little better than I remember it but has some shit that makes me want to massacre the [RACIAL SLUR REMOVED & USER BANNED FOR ONE DAY - ADMIN] that developed it such as a high encounter rate and the cheap-ass enemies.

I'm currently working on Tales of Phantasia SNES, currently at Dhaos's Castle after the sky battles, as well as My Japanese Coach, and am on Lesson 589 out of 1000 in hopes of fine-tuning my Japanese skills so I can hopefully play those RPGs that will never see English versions.

I'm waiting on The Legend of Heroes II and Ar tonelico Qoga, which I found cheaper to import from Australia than buying the American version.

Arc the Lad III and Atelier Iris 3 methinks.
307  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Loose ends... the games we have not finished and should we? on: August 17, 2011, 02:15:03 PM
I'll have to add Dragon Age: Origins to the list of games I've left unfinished, since I've sort of dug myself into a hole in a point of no return, can't really grind, and have pretty much exhausted all my healing items (and I don't have enough ingredients to create any more via herbology).
308  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Xenoblade on: August 15, 2011, 10:27:49 PM
I always take IGN's reviews with a shaker of salt, and this game probably won't be a system seller for me.
309  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Arc the Lad, here I come. on: August 14, 2011, 07:38:27 PM
Your mileage might vary. I thought the first game was okay, thought the second wasn't that good (high miss rate for normal attacks), and liked the third.

There are several games I'm not finished, have no intention to finish because I didn't enjoy them, including

Baldur's Gate
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
The Elder Scrolls: Arena
Class of Heroes
Fallout (I just ran out the in-game clock)

I think that pretty much covers it.

This makes me weep hot tears of agony.
314  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Grandia Creator Takeshi Miyaji Dead at 45 on: August 02, 2011, 07:48:25 PM
I think Grandia's a mediocre series, but a sad loss, indeed.

I'll probably skip this one since I'm wary of the gameplay, and if that aspect sucks, to me, nothing else matters.
