301  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on: November 20, 2011, 12:54:34 AM
Zelda lately has been mostly miss for me, so I can probably live without this one.
302  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: BioWare's next new game is... on: November 08, 2011, 07:47:05 PM
BioWare as a developer has mostly been hit-or-miss for me, so I'm only cautiously optimistic about this title.
303  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Lord of the Rings: War in the North on: November 02, 2011, 03:32:50 PM
I personally found the Silmarillion and other Tolkien works outside the Lord of the Rings to be unreadable, but I wouldn't mind seeing game adaptations of said works.

I almost always finish RPGs I begin unless I reach a point where the game becomes unbeatable for me or I just get plain sick of the game's mechanics.

Grinding in Episode 13 of Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, still on my fourth cycle.

I'm also about four hours and forty minutes through Eternal Sonata.

Also made some decent progress on My Chinese Coach, but I closed my DS while the game was saving and it corrupted my file, so I have to start from scratch. I'll probably deliberately flunk the proficiency test so I can grasp the language better when restarting.
306  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Suikoden Topic on: October 19, 2011, 06:16:28 PM
I'm disappointed Suikoden has gone the Final Fantasy route in terms of sequels in name only, but I still hope we get this one despite the PSP nearing the end of its life cycle.

Crisis Core - Was actually one of my favorite FF7 spinoffs, so I would definitely recommend it.
LoH: Trails in the Sky - Haven't played this one yet, though I have played two of three of the installments of the Garghav trilogy and thought they were decent.
Z.H.P. - Haven't played this one.
One of the Ys games - The port of Ark of Nephastiwhatever has bad loading times from what I've heard, but Oath in Felghana is actually one of my favorite action RPGs ever, and Ys Seven and Ys I + II Chronicles aren't bad, either.
Star Ocean: First Departure and Second Evolution are also among my favorite RPGs ever, so maybe those as well.

Haven't downloaded anything from PSN, so I woulen't know.
308  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Anime to game adaptations we may never see... on: October 15, 2011, 03:27:37 PM
Also admittedly most adaptations aren't really all that good anyway.

Agreed, though my experience has only been with the original four .hack games (though I may try the GU series since I've heard they're better).

I'm watching the original Conan the Barbarian film, and wow, the music really kicks ass.

I just finished the PS2 version of Okami. A little overrated, but good nonetheless.

I just started on My Chinese Coach and did okay on the proficiency test (enough to skip seven lessons), I've had a bit of trouble with the listening games but have done decently on the multiple choice.

I'm also on Chapter 11 of Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, still in my fourth cycle (having gotten premature endings three times thanks to Mid-Boss), without grinding.

I'm waiting on the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata as well.
311  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: emotional RPG's ? on: October 15, 2011, 12:22:03 PM
I thought the Suikoden games to have their emotional moments, like in the first game when the hero
commits patricide.

Secret of Mana's ending I thought was sad as well.
312  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of PlayStation(s) revealed on: October 14, 2011, 04:46:48 PM
I can't remember the last "anime game" that got an Ad in NA.

Well, the Dragon Quest games are sort of anime-influenced, and IX got some TV ads, with Seth Green, no less.
313  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of PlayStation(s) revealed on: October 14, 2011, 12:30:06 PM
It'd really help Tales in the West if Namco-Bandai actually advertised them instead of being quiet about their releases. I don't think there's ever been an American TV spot for a Tales game, unless I'm mistaken.
314  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of PlayStation(s) revealed on: October 14, 2011, 10:06:55 AM
Graces F was announced a long time ago for next year. NA/EU. Xillia, nothing yet.

Namco-Bandai, or Bandai-Namco or whatever the hell they're called in Europe actually showed off the game at an anime convention there I think, so I think there is a slim chance we could see that one, even if it's just in Europe (and the PS3 isn't region-coded, so...).
315  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Merged Final Fantasy XIII-2 Thread on: October 13, 2011, 03:58:03 PM
I'd probably stick with the English voices since I liked them just fine in the original FF13. Not really sure if I want to pick up XIII-2 though since my feelings were definitely mixed on its predecessor, and it isn't exactly my favorite Final Fantasy. I didn't mind the lack of towns since they tend to be a game-padding gimmick anyway, I guess my problems were more with the battle system and difficulty.
