The repeated boss fights towards the end are certainly off-putting, for certain, and it's at that point that the game has somewhat jumped the shark for me, but I'll still finish it.

I'm definitely having a blast with this game, and have done well with a party of two physical attackers and two magicians. Definitely a good spiritual successor to Final Fantasy V.

Finished reading the Space Odyssey series by Arthur C. Clarke. I somewhat enjoyed the novelization of 2001 and 2010, but 2061 and 3001 didn't stick well with me.

Watched the film pilot to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series, which I found on par with the other films in the series, then again I don't think any of the Star Wars films are masterpieces, original or prequel trilogy, since I find all the films to be full of plot holes (for instance, in Empire Strikes Back, "We are fleeing into outer space with literally infinite directions to flee, however, we have decided we'll fly directly towards the fleet of Star Destroyers"), and shitty decision-making (like the Empire's refusal to shoot at the supposedly-empty escape pod with Artoo and Threepio in A New Hope, which would have prevented all events in the original trilogy). Lucas has a great imagination but isn't a very good writer, even with the help of people like Lawrence Kasdan.

The thing that bothered me with Lost Odyssey was that battles were both long and horribly frequent.

At least with Persona 2 you could just spam fusion spells and have the battle over in at most 2 turns.

Too bad you have to use a guide to actually find fusion spells. Sorry, to me that's a sign of shitty game design.

Did a marathon reading all the Saga of Darren Shan books, and was very much satisfied with the series.

Recently reread the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. A little derivative but half-decent nonetheless.

Bravely Default - I'm at the Command Center tower in Eternia, and I've pretty much managed to get away without switching classes for the game (I've mostly been using monk, white mage, black mage, and knight, although I've switched the last one to pirate recently).

Riviera: The Promised Land (PSP) - I'm somewhat pissed that I spent about an hour or so grinding to take on the boss of the submerged ruins and accidentally quit the game (since the quit screen for some reason randomly pops up on my PSP, which is a few years old), but I managed to get past the dungeon and have all available weapons mastered.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (PS3) - About an hour in and I've learned the basics of battle, which should be interesting throughout the game. I can live without an explorable world map since they tend to be unrealistic anyway, although the main hero is sort of whiny.

No problem ^_~

The more recent Mana titles haven't been great, so I can't say I'm excited.

Finished the Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Not a fan.

Beat Tales of Symphonia as part of Chronicles. Was impressed with the game despite the derivative plot. I'll start on Dawn of the New World eventually. Still working on Riviera: The Promised Land PSP and Bravely Default.

Beat Borderlands 2 Vita today, managed to deal whole lot of damage to the final boss without even entering his shield-protected area thanks to crags that put me up far enough, and I occasionally reloaded my ammo via the nearby vending machine. Was generally impressed with the game, with the only real disappointment being the soundtrack, or lack of, thereof, and I haven't played very many western RPGs that have had "good" soundtracks.

Still working my way through Riviera: The Promised land PSP, and I recently got a useful limit break for Ein from a story event.

On Tales of Symphonia PS3, I'm back at the Tower of Salvation in Tethe'alla working my way through the tree/ruins part.

Recently rescued the canary boys in Bravely Default.
