General Discussions / Re: Sell FF7 & FF9 for PSX? how is the FF7 PC Port?

cant you play the midi files with XG or something? i could in my old pc version. also, what music does the PSXversion use? some kind of standard midi?

The Steam version contains optional conveniences, such as lowering the encounter rate or increasing the experience rate. Content wise, the games are identical.

thanks, and soundwise, graphicwise? especially the backgrounds?
my old PC Version can use Yamaha XG Sounds!

General Discussions / Sell FF7 & FF9 for PSX? how is the FF7 PC Port?
« on: January 09, 2016, 06:25:31 AM »
i am thinking about selling both games on psx as FF7 is also available on steam and FF9 will be available on steam as well but before i do it i wanted to check if there are any differences for FF7 on PC compared to the PSX version?

thanks for all the replies, sadly i dont remember everything anymore but will check again maybe to refresh my memories :D! but seems my experiences werent so bad. the thing is that FF games were always harder without a guide than other rpgs (i mean if you play without a guide first and want to explore yourself etc. i do that always normally first cause to play with a guide straight is like cheating for me) and i could play all ff games without it so far (i only played the ps1 games with the super famicom rereleases but without ff 9 so far) even when i was despaired and anggry at the end of ff7 (i hardly made it!!!!) and reading the guide how much i missed etc. lol
but in ff8 i was also trying out a lot in combat mechanics, in my memory and opinion this game sucks harder though trying without a guide and obviously letting? you think the summoning spamming is more efficient :/

it is of course not a VERY bad rpg, but after the ff games and especially ff 7 i was so disappointed..... and still am :D, i  hope 9 - what number we got now? 14 or 15? are better ;D

Single-Player RPGs / FF8 am i the only one who dislikes it so much?
« on: March 24, 2015, 07:24:22 PM »
ok it's about 10 or more years ago since i played it! but recently i am trying to sell some of my ps1 games cause i didnt play many, many years now and collecting dust is also bad :( (breath of fire etc.)
i got the ps1 retail games of ff i think complete, even the super famicom remakes, still havent played ff 9 and hope it's much better!

the only ff game i would sell, even if my collection wouldnt be complete then, number 8. i have so boring thoughts from it. early in the game it's already more efficient to just case your summonings over and over and over and over..... (NON-SKIPPABLE summoning action, yeah, great!). the story as far as i remember was interesting but lacked heavily and many characters were bland.... the graphics were awesome and few elements of gameplay i remember very hard but overall it was just a very bad ff game because of the fighting system.........

do i remember correctly? what is your opinion :)!

Single-Player RPGs / Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits slow gameplay?
« on: January 06, 2014, 04:43:40 PM »
im a jrpg player since the nes times hehe so maybe im also getting older and have less time sadly with work etc. :(
atm im sorting out my collection as i see no time replaying some older games i still have in my collection (like vandal hearts etc.) and checking which i definitely wanna play!
i tested out Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits and it's some kind of FF Tactics/Vandal Hearts etc. JRPG gameplaystyle, this might be my less favourite battlestyle in jrpgs as they suck so much time ;), but not that those games are bad, but somehow i think the movement of the enemies are plain slow and dragging in the game till they ended their moves? i just played 30 - 40 mins and had 3-4 fights. i prefer (well i keep FF tactics and some others for nostalgia and seen as my jewels lol!) lunar, ff7, combostyled like xenogears or real time or a mixture of real time and roung based like star ocean etc.

what do you say?

will check my collection and see if i have more of this kind of games, i still have too many left from last 3 generations......

so i always wanted to get this game and recently remembered about it, i loooooooooooooooooooooove the first musashi game on the ps1, it was just perfect, the whole pacing, difficulty, music, characters, everything so great also with secrets and so on.

how is the title on the ps2? compared to it?

The Helper Monkey / Odins Sphere alchemy question
« on: June 07, 2012, 01:51:32 PM »
i just play the game for 3-4 hours, wow a gem! it really grows on me, one question though, i got 2 recipes so far but i only can use material 0 and material 2, but i combined wrong as i wanted to try out and got material 8 now, i cannot do something with it, only combining brings me more but no recipe so far for it, so is the only way dropping it or selling?

stubborn? well atm not really many examples were given, unless you can give me a list with games i think im not stubborn at all lol just cause i dont like the overcutenessed anime jrpgs doesnt mean i dont like the new stuff but i already pointed the style out i am looking for. and yes jrpgs not western.

Single-Player RPGs / disappointed of new generation rpgs.....
« on: May 17, 2012, 09:19:00 PM »
i didnt play many rpgs since ps2 anymore, the time issue :(
but there are also very nice ones and a variety, but nothing touches the old super famicom times, ps1 times etc.

i also checked out some ps3 rpgs and somehow many lack the quality or visual style for me, too many are toooo much anime, cute like. i miss the sometimes more adult settings, more stuff like xenogears, varied stuff like brave fencer musashi, parasite eve etc. or i missed them? i dunno somehow the new rpgs dont attract me anymore so far, any opinions?

Single-Player RPGs / Valkyrie Profile 2 without played 1?
« on: May 17, 2012, 07:28:14 PM »
i read somewhere that it's the prequel, VP1 was too expensive in the past for me thats why i never bought it and forgot, i recently got VP2 very cheap and wanted to ask as i didnt want to read spoilers if i can play it without having played 1?
