Single-Player RPGs / A JRPG About BOOBS!
« on: May 13, 2018, 07:56:53 AM »
There is a new game coming out called Omega Labyrinth Z. Aside from the main character having BOOBS THAT GROW ALL THE WAY UP TO A Z-CUP(!), the really interesting thing about this game is that it's being developed by Matrix Software. This is a company who has made exactly 4 games (that matter). Alundra, Torneko: The Last Hope, Alundra 2, and Dual Hearts. That first game, Alundra, is one of the greatest games ever made. It's not an RPG, though. Perhaps the other three games are pretty good as well, but I can't expect any of them to hold a candle to Alundra. Their last game, Dual Hearts came out SIXTEEN years ago. I'm very excited that Matrix Software is coming back after all this time with a major console game. I hope it's fun.

Any of you guys hear about this game or play any of Matrix's old games?

Single-Player RPGs / RPGs that All Children Should Play
« on: August 01, 2014, 01:36:33 AM »
Not little tiny children. I'm not thinking about my 7-month-old daughter. I'm thinking of elementary school kids around the ages of 10 and 12. What do you think?

I would suggest Chrono Trigger since it's great, it's not convoluted, and it's on the DS which lots of kids get, especially in Japan.

Single-Player RPGs / Xenogears Hyper Low-Level Challenge
« on: March 14, 2014, 08:25:21 PM »

I'm playing through Xenogears under a set of self-imposed rules that I believe have not been observed before. The goal is to beat the game without fighting a single random battle. If you just want to hurry up and see what I mean, then click the link at the top.

The Challenges
*My character stats will suffer due to being a low level.
*Some gear (mech) stats will also suffer because they are tied to those of the character. Specifically, Ether Attack, Ether Defense, Hit%, and Evasion
*I will not have many abilities or deathblows at my disposal.
*I will not have much gold for buying armor and more importantly for upgrading gears.

What Could Possibly Be Fun About This?
I'm expecting some very edge-of-your-seat boss battles during this playthrough. My hope is that there will be lots of moments where I have only one turn left to win the battle before being destroyed. The scenario of encountering an absolutely unbeatable boss under these conditions is plausible. It should be fun to see if that happens.

General Discussions / Free Steam game giveaway at
« on: October 21, 2013, 09:37:19 AM » is giving away a lot of Steam games right now and not only is it easy to enter but the chances of winning are quite high. There was a long list of the available games read on the podcast but some that stuck out in my memory were Trine 2, FTL, Bastion, and Limbo. There many more though. You can hear the entire list of games read within the first 10 or so minutes of the podcast here:

All you have to do is write one comment in the comment section (no account required) saying, "I want such-and-such game."

Additionally, in an effort to boost the readership, Lusipurr is going to do a play through of any horrible game that gets the most votes. So along with claiming a free Steam game, I also recommend that you say, "I want Lusipurr to play through such-and-such horrible game." Make sure it really is an unbearably bad game for most hilarious results. I was surprised when this tactic actually worked once when he tried it in the past. Gamers are all sadistic, I guess. Hahaha!

The Soundroom / Attack On Titan On Guitar (Just for fun)
« on: October 15, 2013, 09:49:50 AM »
I played the opening song from Attack On Titan, "Guren no Yumiya". Enjoy! ^_^

I just released a full-length album of songs inspired by games. They are mostly original but there are some game music references and plenty of RPG story lyrics from games like FF Tactics, Alundra, Star Ocean series, and Xenogears.

Listen to it FREE right here:

Thanks for everyone's support.

The Helper Monkey / I need to record PS3 gameplay footage.
« on: October 23, 2011, 04:27:14 AM »
Do you guys know a good way to do that? I am willing to spend some money on it. Right now I have a somewhat weak laptop and I heard that video capture cards are usually the type of things you have to install. So I don't know if I can do that unless there is a USB video capture card. I want to record in the best possible quality. The Angry Video Game Nerd uses a DVD recorder and then I guess he just rips the DVD with his computer. So that's a possibility as well.

I just don't want to do another video the way I did my Catherine review ( which was by searching youtube for videos in which people played the way I wanted them to.

To sum up: HELP ME!

Hey guys.  I know I've only been an RPGfan member for a short while but I wanted to introduce you to my mini-podcast.  I'm sure you'll enjoy it since it relates to RPGs.

It's a weekly comedy/educational show about difficult or foreign words that are used in RPGs and also the occasional game review.  It's released every Saturday morning USA time.  I just posted episode 6.  I'm just getting started so expected slow changes for the better.  Your feedback would be good for pointing me in the right direction. (nudge nudge wink wink)  Check it out, laugh a little, and learn something too.

PS: I wasn't sure which forum.  I hope this is the right area.
