Don't tell her that. She might start thinking that her opinion doesn't matter.
Wait a minute.

I would play this if it didn't have a monthly fee in N.America, but we'll see what happens.

When did i ever say it did? They'll do whatever they want regardless of what I say. I'm stating I'd rather have this game on console with a decent infrastructure especially if I have to pay a fee, cause I do in fact want it. Though the way it's looking I wont be getting it unless at least one of my friends gets it or they ditch the fee for NA.

I would say the act of posting implies you have an opinion you want others to hear, no?
Otherwise you wouldn't post.
I was more commenting on the fact that you posted the same thing twice (three times now).

An MMO on the Wii seems like a "doomed to fail outside of Japan" idea to me.

Don't you know? When she does it, it's okay.

Regardless my opinion doesn't matter to Squeenix they're just gonna make it however they want to. Maybe I'm just overreacting cause when it comes down to it i haven't even talked with anyone I'd play this with and gotten their opinions on it. Maybe I should just shut up and wait to see what other people have to say.

Frankly, there IS cause for concern that it may limit itself on the Wii in the long term (unless this is meant to be a "runs only a few years" MMO or something) given that FFXI is being held back by the PS2 actively, though the fact the game apparently comes with a USB memory stick,
combined with 8 gb ones being extraordinarily cheap now
, means that it actually might not limit itself on the patching side like PSU did by having to deal with 8 MB cards exclusively.

So much for a solo adventure for those of us who don't want to play an MMO.
And again, who knows how they're going to handle this outside of Japan? Knowing Squeenix, I have a feeling that players in the US won't get as lucky as they did with Monster Hunter Tri.

I understand missing the news in a huge thread with multiple pages per post, but this isn't too long yet and Lard DID post that on the very first page.
Oh, yeah, and looking more I see 16 GB thumbdrives are under $20, so as long as SE doesn't skimp in size they can probably get MORE than enough space for a dedicated thumb drive to be bundled with the game.

Are you trying to say all the soccer moms who bought a Wii for bowling are not interested in an online rpg? Surely you jest.

I don't see the need to be concerned. PSO ran for how many years again? Sure, the Wii is at the end of its lifecycle, but people do still buy them. I think we can reasonably expect eight years or so, which, considering how many other games will get released in that time period, is not a bad number.

Pardon how much of a pedant I may be being, but is there any indication that this game is actually an MMO and not just something like PSO or Monster Hunter with the town being a glorified lobby? I see people calling it an MMO and wonder if I missed something or if it's just people having a far looser definition of that sort of thing than myself.

Yeah, this looks more like PSO than anything else.
