the title of this topic/article offends me greatly

Why so serious?
Some of you are so uptight!

I've never been more into gaming than I am now but a lot of this stuff is true if you're in the same situation as the person who wrote this article, family, job, all the things life throws at you when you have responsibilities. Tackling a 70 hour game like xenoblade in the middle of all this madness can be frustrating and you can feel overwhelmed when you realize how much time the game is asking you to invest in it.
It's also true that when you are a kid it's much more easier to get into a game's story, you just can't suspend your disbelief like that when you become an adult.

Quote
Well, game developers listened to the 17 year-old me. It's just that by the time they got around to figuring out how to make a 300-hour game, I had a job and three kids, and 300 hours represents every minute of gaming time I'll have available to me in the next three years. In other words, selling me that game is the same as taunting me, reminding me that the same obligations that let me afford to buy games also prevent me from playing them.

I think the writer did a good job, did you even read it?

I liked the article, too, CD. For almost everything he wrote about, he also had a counterpoint that made pretty good sense to me.
It's not really about being too old to play games. It's about life going on, and us realizing things weren't quite what they seemed way back when.
In our modern gaming world, is there really such thing as too old for gaming? I sure hope not. Although, there will always be a subset of clueless folks who think games are "just for kids". Poor fools don't know what they're missing.

Exactly! What we should be discussing here is how we struggle in our daily lifes to find time for our hobby. Nobody's saying that there's an age limit, the point here is that whether you like it or not life and gaming become more and more incompatible and that is an issue that we have to deal with.

I thought half of these were subtle jabs at the I AM 25 AND GAMES SUCK NOW set, to be honest.

Anyway, here's my How to Know You're Too Old for Games List.

1. You go to Gamestop and feel like a total pedophile.

When I walk into Gamestop, the staff thinks I'm a mystery shopper.

Well, I'm 26 and I don't feel any of this applies to me. How old do I have to before I ever start agreeing with any of this? The main multiplayer games I play are fighting games, and those never get old for me. Always fun.

Well, I'm 36, so... I'm gonna go with "it's not inevitable."
