It's surprisingly been sold out everywhere in the local area where I'm at.  Which I think is cool, since the game is totally worth it.  I've put like, 30 hours in so far and I have a long ways to go from what I can tell.... and then there's still NG+ to do afterwards.
You playing it on Ps3 or the failbox parn?

Easy-bake oven.  No one games on a blu-ray player anymore.

As a bonus, you'll be able to use my pawn for free if you play on 360.  He's been getting good ratings from others since he's not completely retarded.

I would have already bought it, but the cab I called for my ride home from work was actually quick. Going to probably run out later today or tomorrow for it.

Naturally, as I go to order this and xenoblade from lamestop, gamefly sends out xenoblade, the cheaper game.

Edit: Nabbed a pstriple copy this evening. My lamestop had no failbox stuff left. Works for me, I preferred the ps3 controls for non shooters anyway.

Double Edit: Played for about 2 hours and my system froze, just like what happened to me during my arkham city run. It's official, my ps3 is dying. Sending it in next week for service repairs.

Finally beat the game this evening.  Story was hilariously terrible, but it seems there's more to do and the combat is still a lot of fun, so tally-ho!

So what's the story about? Throw me those spoilers, I have no intentions in getting this game but I'm curious.

Played this game a lot, but strangely haven't done much. The escort quests are a huge time sink, taking you far across the map, for a pretty pathetic quest reward.

It does get old fighting the same wolves and bandits time and time again as I transverse the landscape.

Well I played it each day for a little over a week and finally have come to terms with the fact that I just can't do it.... maybe I'll nickel and dime it over time, but the lack of narrative and monotony of quests totally outweigh the beyond-awesome gameplay for me.... I think Dragon Age was the only exception for me when it comes to WRPG's... Thing is I don't even need a good narrative, just something I could ignorantly accept as "what the hell is happening" is enough for me.... But when I play this, I don't get the sense of anything other than "what is the next big thing to kill....." and "how cool can I make my character look"..... I'm going back to polishing off some backlogged compile-heart-creepiness for the moment I think-LOL

So what's the story about? Throw me those spoilers, I have no intentions in getting this game but I'm curious.

The story is retarded and not particularly noteworthy, but spoiler tags anyway:

Code:
Dragon takes your heart from your chest.  Literally.  You somehow are still alive and must embark on a quest to get it back from the dragon.  Because.  Pawns (read: slaves) from some other dimension are compelled to serve you.  Because.  You meet a bunch of unremarkable characters and a bunch of meaningless stuff happens.  Because.  So you go through these meaningless quests and watch character interactions occur where they're bickering and stuff, but you have no idea why.  There's zero context for anything.  Then at the end, you are presented with a Fable styled arbitrary choice in the final conflict: fight the dragon, or rule the kingdom at the cost of your beloved.  BTW, your beloved happens to be whatever NPC you built the most affection with in the game, though none of them have any personality and thus you have no attachment at all and so you don't care.  The Duke who rules Gran Soren was a previous arisen who apparently made the latter choice, and he basically dies after I chose the first option since I just wanted to fight the dragon.  Because why not?  I think the character you're playing in the prologue is basically the Duke.

The only really memorable scene in the entire game was unintentionally hilarious.  The Duke's wife ends up requesting you to her bedchambers.  So I show up and she is all teehee lol i luv u and then the Duke approaches.  Protagonist hides for a bit and the Duke, looking all possessed with rapeface on, starts choking the shit out of her.  Why?  Because.  So after standing there awkwardly for a moment, you interrupt the scene and he comes to, and she starts going into defensive mode since she doesn't want to be accused of being a slut, saying you were trying to force yourself on her and blah blah blah, so your character gets sent to the dungeon and lashed by some random guard whom you've never met before who apparently really likes torture I guess.  You end up escaping from the dungeon, and then everyone proceeds to apparently not remember that any of this happened as the Duke continues to support your endeavors.

It's fucking weird.

The story is pretty non existant, but I wouldn't exactly call it shitty. It has it's moments. I really like the last 3hours or so of the game though.

I particularly enjoy the post game content, but I suggest you beat the game first so you can unlock mulitple Port Crystal purchase. Makes the game x10 better

The game reminds me a bit of Star Ocean Til the End of Time. Not really sure why..just does.

If anyone wants a level 60ish warrior, add Dankuj on PSN. I'll probably be on today to add. Just leave me a msg saying you're from RPGFan!

Hm, it sure is weird. The story sounds like it serves the purpose to give a bit more context to the gameplay somehow.

Doesn't seems like the kind of game that I would play for hours. Anyway, thanks for the reply Parn. (:

Finished all the board quests I had an actually progressed with the story. Having a purpose sucked me in a bit more. Although I'm already level 35 and just did the first quest in Gran Soren, so I power through everything very easily.

DAMN YOU CAPCOM, WHY DO YOU GIVE ME A GOOD GAME AND THEN MY SYSTEM EXPLODES?!

I found the hilariously awful title theme on iTunes and paid the 69 cents for it because I am a nerd and enjoy terrible game themes.  Unfortunately, the rest of the game's soundtrack is nowhere to be found unless I import it.  What is this, the 1990s?  Where is my digital download option.  I really don't feel like ordering from CD Japan.

I'm 45 hours in, level 39, and haven't done anything really but stupid fetch quests. Just started the wyrm quests or whatever they're called.

The game is a blast when following the story line, but the innane escort quests and kill quests really drag the game down.

i've been slowly going through all the quests on the boards, level 45, i got a couple left. the worst escort quest was the symone one, seriously in real life i'd have told her dad and her to eat a bag of dicks. i just wanted to get that shit out of the way cause when i got to the dude that hands out the wyrm quests, he says all other quests will be abandoned so i didn't want to miss anything...probably not missing much though.
