I have to say the pacing in this game is terrible.

Seems like they wanted to make an open world game like Skyrim, but the world really isn't that interesting to explore. Following the quest line is some what entertaining, but there are too many side distractions, like the pointless escort quests.

I would agree.  I think they have excellent graphics, but waste it on banal landscapes.  Just not a whole lot of stunning scenery.  There's SOME nice shots near beaches and shores, but it's sorely lacking in creativity and beauty.

Frankly, if I was creating an open world RPG, I'd have crazy-cool landscapes, just gorgeous and foreboding and stunning, all wrapped up into one.  Desert areas, snow-capped peaks & glaciers, verdant forests that block the sunlight, surging rivers, pounding waves, immense boulders and deep ravines with rope bridges, beautiful waterfalls, open green meadows...  The game HAS some of this stuff, but it's few and far between, and WAY too much regular type landscapes.  I mean, there's just no need to keep things "normal" if you don't have to.

i just read yesterday that they're planning to make this a devoted series which i guess i'm okay with if they button up a few things. i finished it last night. the end is weird
Code:
i'm bummed that since there is auto save, i'm locked into the choice at the end where i'm a god, stuck in a rift were i'm only able to visit two places, as an invisible deity who can only interact with the world by attacking. just give me new game plus were everything is stronger and you could've kept me playing instead i just gave it to my roommate to play though.

things to make this a better game:
fast travel between rift stones you've been to.
new game+ / difficulty settings
more monsters.
auto lock as advanced skill.
co-op play (perhaps as your pawn for jump in couch co-op)
swimming/sea beasts...let me ride ride a pegasus and kill a kraken damn it lol

Sounds like this game is pretty mediocore.

I'm glad I skipped it. Would any of you guys give it a 7/10 or higher? I was expecting at least a 7/10 on this one, it looked like it had some potential...

I didn't see a review in the reviews section for this game... did i miss something ?

i'd probably give it a low seven it was serviceable it had flaws sure but it was fun to play.

other things to add to my list of how this game could be better were:

the story could have been good, but i'm not going to play though to see if there is another ending for a while. i'll probably just watch a youtube video. needless to say i wasn't happy with the ending i chose and that would have been fine if there were manual save files as well as auto saves.

the dialog is set up for a male character, which lead to some jarring moments as well.

the pawns worked pretty decent for me. the exception being that as the commands are mapped the the d-pad up is "go!" which sends your pawns out to explore/attack. down is "come" pretty self explanatory, however both right and left are "help" it seems to me as a missed opportunity to differentiate the help. one could've been heal and the other could've been buff/debuff. but instead i had to hit help till i got what i needed.

the only other complaint i had was that i felt the side to side movement of the camera felt stiff while aiming your bow.

I'd give it 8 out of 10.  (I'm known for being way too generous with scores, admittedly).  I'm having a blast.

It's not perfect, for sure, but nothing is, that's not a fair standard.

I DO wish they had fast travel, and most importanly, More Monsters!

Heck, just open up an old D&D Monster Manual, and start picking em!  There's no reason not to include a great variety in monsters in an RPG, I've never understood that.  For every Goblin you fight, you could make it a Kobold, or an Orc, or....  Whatever.  Instead of fighting a Cyclops over and over again (I've felled at least a dozen of the big brutes), have an Ogre, or a Hill Giant, or an Ettin...  Instead of group after group of bandits, have some Giant Ants, have a Chull pop out of the water, have a Roper, or a Rust Monster, or a Mirlieth (how awesome would that be???), or a Medusa, or a Dire Bear....

You  get the idea.

Capcom, call me!  Let me be your consultant!  I'll even do it for free!

There are ogres in the game >_>

I see whete you're going though and agree somewhat. I like the monsters they have, but more is always better. It's also boring to see recycled animations between monster attacks. The golem doing the same swings as an unarmed cyclops is dull. I'm not complaining though, the game is still entertaining, even if the story and voice acting is obviously D grade.

The only fucki.g thing that really pisses me off is the lack of an option to shut your fucking pawns up. If I hear about how the king could commission some new fucking roads one more time, I may throw my pawn off the aide of a cliff....again.

rust monsters terrified me in "eye of the beholder" cause if you got hit sometimes your armor would disintegrate and it wasn't like you couldn't just buy a replacement.

i'm totally with you though more monsters and more animation cycles for the different types.

i read yesterday on shack news that capcom says don't sell your copy yet cause there is new "new play elements" coming as DLC. i'm guessing some multiplayer arena or the co-op we should've got at launch.

i watched the endings on youtube apparently i got the perfect ending except i need to do one thing to complete it. it seems to make the pawns make sense. i'll let you know how i feel about it after i get it back from my roommate.

I love playing this game. The story stinks, the voice acting is bad, the variety is lacking in monsters, armor, and equipment, the game area is small overall and the lack of transportation between destinations sucks, and a bunch more trivial complaints that still can't stack up to the fact that I just enjoy running around and killing stuff in game. It's beyond addicitive. I just killed my first drake, and it was AWESOME!

I am so glad I bought this game, even if I got dicked out of the RE6 demo.

hard mode? it makes me wonder if the ai is smarter or if they just get more hp and damage more the battles where drawn out enough but if the enemies are smarter that could be cool. i hope the next one has more things to kill and more animation cycles. i will be pleasantly surprised if they can pull a good story out of the remnants of the first one but i hope they figure that out too.

I was looking into doing a replay of the game.  Looks like I should hold off.  Works for me, as I enjoyed the hell out of the combat.
