A poor stonemason gets fired from a job, goes someplace else and gets to build a cathedral but some bad guys (edit: medieval dickweeds) try to stop it 'cause that would reveal a nasty plot that was afoot a long time ago.
Shit happens and THIS SHIT IS AWESOME.
It was nominated for an "outstanding" miniseries Emmy, but lost to a PBS thingy.
Also worth noting that Tony/Ridley Scott produced it.
