So, here's a thread.

To be honest the grading scales are pointless to me. The content of the review is more important so my thoughts are it doesn't affect me.

Unfortunately you are a minority in that way of thinking, and to most, all that matters is the score.

Wait, people read reviews?  I thought you were just supposed to look at the score and then complain (whether it be too high or too low, rest assured it is wrong).

I think you explained it very well and to me it seems fair to both DLC and re-releases. You were right in saying there was nothing to really compare them to. Nice work on that.

When you're broke ....reviews are nice.

I like bad reviews, personally.

Reviews where the writer is bad, or the score is bad? :P

I dunno, some bad writing can be pretty funny.

I like the DLC grading aspect. For me the main thing I look for in a DLC is a side story that is worth the price. I expect the graphics and game play to be the same so I see no reason to read through another review of that, what I want is an (educated, I hope) opinion on whether it adds enough to the main game to make the $$$ worthwhile.

As a reviewer, I have to say that the worst ones to write are the ones where the score is middle of the road.  Like something in the mid 60s to low 70s.  The game's not so terrible that you can have fun really tearing it a new one, but it doesn't really have anything good enough to merit actual praise.  I've had games like that where I spent six hours writing a three page review. :P

Poor Tooker takes a lot of our less-than-adequate games for review.  You can see that in that he thinks mid 60s is middle of the road.

Also, I like the new grading scale.

To be honest the grading scales are pointless to me. The content of the review is more important so my thoughts are it doesn't affect me.

It seems to me the new grading scale was created in part for people with your line of thought in mind- that grading scales are pointless so you lower it to the simplest possible terms- "Good", "Okay", or "Bad", so you don't get a headache trying to figure out what the difference is between an 86% and an 83%. A lot of times the percentages don't adequately sum up what the reviewer thinks because it's hard to tell unless you read several reviews by the same writer, so I actually find the new scale far more informative, which is what an overall score should do.

So I like it.
