This album is fucking great.
I am going to see them on October 30th.
I am excited.
That is all.

It's VERY different from their previous efforts though not all that surprising. I like it a lot.

To be honest I wasn't blown away. One of the great things about Opeth is the dynamic between the 2 voices, it's a shame he ditched the growling. There are some great songs here but nothing to touch the likes of "harlequin forest" or "the drapery falls" for example.

I don't really care much for this album at all, or recent Opeth in general (I love the first 4 albums, Morningrise being my favorite). I saw them live at the beginning of this month, and will say that if you enjoy this album as much as you do, you'll probably adore their performance on this tour.
At least Katatonia played Teargas for the first time on the tour at the show I went to, and that was a nice surprise since it's my favorite song of their newer stuff.

My favorite is probably ghost reveries.
I saw them last year on progressive nation and it was awesome.

The only Opeth albums I particularly enjoyed were the first two (especially Morningrise) and Damnation (I have no idea why I like that one so much). Not that I have any other problems with their other stuff, I just find them a bit repetitive (as in, song starts off ballad like, which then surprise attacks you with 5 minutes of pure growling, with another few minutes of ballad after that, to make sure their songs are at least 10 minutes). Then again, i'm more of a thrasher. Opeth's pretty cool though. I still need to check out their new album.

I love "Orchid" and "Morningrise", but couldn't stand anything else after. All those once good bands crapped out in my opinion. early Opeth, In Flames and Dark tranquility released great alums early on and then.. wtf?
