According to
this blog, the Beastie Boys are back in the studio to record their next album, with famed keyboardist, Mark "Money Mark" Nishita. Mark worked with them on their "Check Your Head" album in the early 1990s. He was also quoted, saying the words "Check Your Head 2". This could imply that the album will be a continuation of the Check Your Head style, with the distorted vocals, and live instruments. In fact, it was also noted that the Beastie Boys were playing their instruments while in the studio, as Mark Nishita was showing the interviewer a video from his laptop, of the Boys in the studio.
This came as a big surprise to me, as I thought they would continue their style from their To The 5 Boroughs album, but they threw a curve ball at me.
I used to be a big Beastie Boys fan, but it's died down over the years, until now. I can't wait to hear this.
Edit: This isn't confirmed, but I'm excited nonetheless. Hopefully Capitol Records can confirm it over time.
