Most have been said so I guess I'll just agree, yeah if you like Mos Def, Talib Kweli is definitely someone you need to look into. And Nas is someone you can't go wrong with at all. And Front Minor, Shinoda from Linkin Park, is very good actually. Caught alot of people off guard but his first album is definitely noteworthy. Warren G is also someone I'd check out, he's more of a funk rapper if anything I'd still check out all the beats cause they are just so nice.

Check out Percee P, 3rd Bass, (especially Pete Nice's "Dust to Dust" album) Digable Planets, The Pharcyde, Ugly Duckling, Charizma, De La Soul, Young MC, Public Enemy, and Reverend Run's solo album.

I enjoy them and all...but if he wants something close to Mos Def, Twista and Three 6 Mafia are not two artists I would suggest at all.
I also overlooked Joe Budden. His first album, and with all these damn delays, only album, is really very good. It's more of a diary than anything with many of the songs dealing with what he went through when he was younger and what he's going through now that he made all his money.

So Nemmet, have you had a chance to listen to any of our hip-hop recs? And if so, which ones? And among those which ones did you like/dislike and why? I know you're into music, so I would definitely advise you to sample really musical hip-hop like Me'Shell, The Roots, or Arrested Development.

OH, I completely forgot -- do check out the hip-hop group, Giant Panda. It's raw, old school sounding hip-hop. You won't be disappointed.

If you loved Mos Def's Black on Both Sides, you'll probably hate his latest album. Such a dissapointment.
Pretty much not a single song I liked off the album.
