I do all my gaming on Macs without any issue. I use Boot Camp for that purpose of course.

You can certainly get a better gaming machine more cheaply than a Mac though if that's what you're looking to do - but if you still want the design tools you've grown accustomed to in OSX, you can have both. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a reason Boot Camp wouldn't work for you.
