I always thought of myself as more of a John Doggett.

Bye bye little fella!

We sent our Voyager spacecraft off powered by computers with 80 kilobytes of memory, using software without data storage capability. (They rely on relics known as tape recorders.) Despite weak signal power, information is sent from both Voyagers daily. So far that totals five trillion bits of scientific data.

And what may come?!

I had one that had 12mb of ram. Remember making BOOT DISKS to play shit? We used to be old school as fuck.

Shit the amount of mechwarrior 2, tie fighter, and sim city I rocked on that thing. Totally worth the 2.5k it probably cost my folks HAHAHA THANKS MOM

Some of the facts from that last article I posted are absolutely amazing:

Quote
The rings of Uranus are so dark that Voyager's challenge of taking their picture was comparable to the task of photographing a pile of charcoal briquettes at the foot of a Christmas tree, illuminated only by a 1 watt bulb at the top of the tree, using ASA-64 film. And Neptune light levels will be less than half those at Uranus.

Quote
The sensitivity of our deep-space tracking antennas located around the world is truly amazing. The antennas must capture Voyager information from a signal so weak that the power striking the antenna is only 10 exponent -16 watts (1 part in 10 quadrillion). A modern-day electronic digital watch operates at a power level 20 billion times greater than this feeble level.

Interesting!

Huge gif upset computer running things.

Amazing though.  I wonder what sorta crazy shit is brewing up on the surface there.
