METAL GEAR RISING REVENGEANCE North American box art
:
The demo of MGR that is in the JP PSN Store is region-locked (crazy I know), but in January Konami is releasing one for all regions for both Xbox 360 and PS3.
The demo is 3.5GB big so make sure you have space for it.

I just played the demo. Liked it way, way more than DMC4/Bayonetta/MGS Reveangengeancnecne.
I think that Taelus is insane for liking DmC more than all the other games he mentioned but to each his own.

Also played it (meaning Revenganernance) at E3. Really can't stand it. It's just another hard action game with a Metal Gear skin. Certainly will appeal to a certain set of people, but I can't stand that 'YO DAWG DANTE'S ACTION FRAMES ARE ALL FUCKED UP IN THE NEW GAME AND THE HITBOXES ARE WAY OFF' kind of criticism. It's like people who bitch about professional-level tactics in fighting games. Sure, there's room for people who enjoy that kind of experience, I'm just not one of them. Other than DMC1 and 3, I haven't liked a game in that genre, to be honest.

Fair enough. I'm not one for super hard action games either, so I can relate.

Yeah, exactly. And it's not that I think they're bad outright, it's just a kind of style that doesn't appeal to me. Sort of like how I love the Uncharted series, but I can appreciate why someone else wouldn't. It's scratches a very particular itch.

You know Platinum always includes an easy mode for you guys, right? Bayo and Vanquish both had one. Or recent Capcom fighters with beginner control mode. Technically competent action games are not synonymous with high difficulty or skill cap, it's not either or. DmC could be a more technically competent game with a higher skill cap and you could still enjoy it.
It's not like improving those technical aspects of a game would ruin your casual experience if there's easy modes and such for you, so why hate on others opinions? Skilled gamers have a stronger case for why dumbing down games is bad, because while you can play a high skill cap and technically competent game at a casual level (provided there is an easy mode or whatever), you can't play a low skill cap and technically incompetent game at a high level.
Oh and "just another hard action game"? I don't think you realize how vanishingly rare such games are.
