Oblivion horse armor is far more useless than that. I guess the gaming industry has been dead for five and a half years now.
Bethesda openly admitted that horse armor was an experiment in getting people to pay for it. I'm not going to speculate on causation here, but Oblivion came out right around the time that DLC REALLY started taking off.
Considering how long it took them to design the programming to allow for this kind of thing (Shogun 2 is played with thousands of units at a very high level of detail), it's not surprising they'd charge for it. Plus at fifty-three cents, it's not exactly gouging.
That's the thing. Going from the video, the blood effects look like utter shit. The blood spray is just 2D, transparent sprites. Really bad looking sprites that just look like someone went crazy with the blur tool and red pen in photoshop for a few seconds. There's nothing more ornate here than you'd expect to see in any given FPS.
Hell, this is pretty much on par with what Myth 2 had. Myth 2 is old as hell.
(Base price is a dollar. It was on sale at the time. Disregarding that though).
There exists, broadly, an issue I have with the software industry as a whole right now, and that is the belief that the software industry should change from being a goods industry to a service industry. A belief that, if you have a product, as soon as someone buys your product they are no longer your customer, because you are not making money off of them anymore.
HAhaha oh wow holy shit i totally just misread my sig quote as the rum island thing.
wait I have that under my avatar nevermind. I actually did read that.
