Atlus Game Announcement Thread - Mark 2

why the Atlus hate? Since they're releasing western games?  Sheesh people a good game is a good game.

i have no atlus hate buuuuuut for me just being a good game just isnt enough. it was good enough for me during the nes and genesis days(never owned a snes)maybe even the psx/saturn days. but sometime during the DC/ps2 era just being a good game ceased to be enough.

Well back on the Gungnir topic... well somewhat back on the Gungnir topic that is.... Do I need to playthrough Yggdra to appreciate  Kights before thinking about Gungnir?

I tried Yggdra and although I liked it, it just isnt something I care to (or have the time to) get back into, and Knights is still sitting on my shelf just waiting.....

So I'm wonderring are these games all within the same universe or correlated as sequels and prequels in any sense, or are they just stylistically akin to one another?

All the Dept. Heaven games are self-contained. There are references and cameos, but you there's no overarching story (that we can see yet).

Technically we HAVE had that happen... with Yggdra Unison and Blaze Union, and they're more like FFX-2, FFIV: The After Years, and FFXIII-2 in that they directly continue an installment but aren't mainline entries. Hell, even there Gloria Union broke the continuity chain as I recall.

If I didn't like Knights or Yggdra, then there is no reason to try this one, am I right? Its not that I don't like strategy RPGs but those two just didn't work out for me. I liked Tactics, Ogre Battle (March of the Black Queen) and even Disgaea more.

Well this is more of a "normal" SRPG from the looks of it so maybe you'll like this one better.

Apparently the big difference is that you can mess around with the turn order.

Yea, Disgaea is waaay more my style.... Love disgaea Klyde does... indeed....

However I will say the art style of these titles entices me enough alone to pour in some hours.. Some of coolest looking concept art I've beheld in sometime....

I guess I'll wait and see if there is more info on the game... I just found Knights and Yggdra more cumbersome than enjoyable - the other games I mentioned felt more intuitive. Some of the artwork is intriguing though...

Yeah, never really could get into Yggdra Union and KitN. I tried to find Riviera too. I was just looking for a new series, but when I found out that the Dept. Heaven series were only loosely connected, I figured trying to get through gameplay I didn't like wasn't worth it. Both games have just been sitting around collecting dust.

(And for some reason I have KitN on DS and PSP, so I'm thinking I forgot I even owned it at some point. o.O)

I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days; wondering if there was any word that was going to drop or if we were getting trolled by Atlus yet again.

I'll shut up now so that they can take my money (again, as I recently sprung for P1 PSP & P2IS PSP).

Edit: Now when are you going to get around to bringing SRW:OGs2 SRW Z2-2 Atlus? :p
