Xenosaga the Animation

I've been super-wrapped up in Xenoblade at the moment and have been kicking around watching the Xenosaga animation.... Thing is I only played through Xenogears and Xenosaga Episode 1 and my question is will the animation fill me in on what I missed out on in XS Ep.2 and 3? Should I forego the animation entirely and just play th games?...... And here is the big question.... does it actually "finish" or is it another one of those "were only gonna make an anime out of one of the story arcs"...... Any spoiler free advice would be appreciated :)

Wow, well good to know.... looks like Escaflowne will be my current "to watch" then..... Nice to keep in mind if I care to recap before playing the 2nd and 3rd though..... Thank you very much for the hasty response.

I loved the ending more than the show...  something very "singable" about it (and not cuz it's english)
