So, although I am a visual artist by way of my profession, I took a real interest in crafting these cooky little miniatures and jewelry as of late. They were inspired by the ever-popular visual styles of steampunk and clockpunk.

At the suggestion of another forum member, I decided to start a thread and post em as I make them.... But I think we should think bigger!! If any other artists care to join me in the image posting with their own thematically similar material, please by all means, do so! Lets not stop at miniatures either, maybe you have a steam-punkerly original character or setting you've drawn up or sketched out.... POST IT!!

Naturally I'll start........

The upper piece I've dubbed "The Knight" and the lower pic features a series of pieces I call "Time Keys"....

I will try to post regularly, throwing up a new piece or two every day or two (typically how long it takes me to make the stuff)....

Where are the octopuses?

It's not steam punk unless there is an octopus.

Hello all and happy new year!!! Well... happy new year a day late.....

Today I have two pieces to post... my typical weird little miniature for one..... and a steampunk-outiftted original character I drafted up, ala anime style!

I have dubbed this creation, featured above, as "Joy"

Her name is Trynn. Her vessel, an inheritance from her late well-to-do gambling parents, is the "Lucky 7". A treasure hunter by trade, she traverses the dark post-apocolyptic earth is search of relics from the past with her companion Braike. However what Trynn and Braike are about to learn about their future, as a lesson taught from the past, will shatter the very foundation of this already broken world.....

....So what is the revelation? What is that pendant she is holding in the illustration? These are answers we may never know because as much as I wish being a author/illustrator was part of my job description, it is not..... That fact aside there simply is not 8 days in a week nor 25 hours in a day.... So for now the mystery dies with the illustration sadly....

Anyhow, Trynn was rendered completely with Derwent Graphite pencils and strathmoore 400 series paper. Photographed with a Nikon cool-pix camera and only thrown in photoshop to add the sig.

Come on guys, no one else with ANY art to post...? I just know a bunch of you are of the compulsively-creative sort... don't be bashful, JOIN ME IN THE MADNESS!!! HAHAHAHA!!!........ *Ahem*.... uh.... anyhow.... Onto todays post...

Before I decided to craft little miniatures, I tried my hand at a few grungy-clock-punk creations I call "time keys".

The symbolism to me is that time is essentially the most valuable currency we have and realizing this is key to a fruitful or satisfying existance..... Management of time and how we utilize is the key to everything really.....

None-the-less, these proved to be quite tricky for me and far less rewarding than the miniatures... Fun regardless though, as I never worked with any epoxies, solders, or rotary tools before these :)

My talents do not lie in that artistic direction.  I am merely able to appreciate the efforts of others. :)

Gave some away for Christmas.... selling the rest, though that is not to say I wouldn't do favors and exchanges for various items.... I do so love video game merchandise, my house in fact looks like a walk-through anime/jrpg museum exhibit..... I shudder to think at the fortune I've infested in it all... quit sad really.... well over 1500 us dollars invested in Final Fantasy merch alone... hell, I once spent like 150 on a freakin' FF6 keychain set.... art is my hobby, my recreation and my job. To merely be a tattoo artist, or a portrait artist simply is not enough to pay the bills.... especially when you have a bad habbit of living way beyond your means, such as i do.....

My talents do not lie in that artistic direction.  I am merely able to appreciate the efforts of others. :)

I appreciate that you take the time to look, Took!

By the way, sorry I posted the time keys twice, I'll make up for it with two new creations in the next post!

Well as for today I thought I would mix it up with two creations outisde the realm of creepy little miniatures.

This is little wall-mount piece I created for my hair-dresser entitled "Cosmetic Hero", which is what it reads behind the mess of gears and scissors (though its difficult to discern in picture)

.... And featured above here was my first effort at a clock-work heart-piece. I'm not completely thrilled with this one though.... expect the next heart to be a bit more pleasing to look at....

If you could knit/sew you'd make some amazing sackboy style figures.

I wish I could sew.... Well its not that I can't... it is simply despite my dexterity and patience with other creative efforts, needle and thread work makes me wanna find an 8-foot rope and a 20 ft drop......
