I guess somebody heard all the complaints about the FPS.  I gotta say, I'm excited.  If anyone can do this right it's Firaxis.

I'm not sure the FPS IS canned, not unless I'm missing something. This is a more ideal way to revive though: you get the FPS or whatever out designed more for mass appeal, but throw in enough twists to make it genuinely worth caring about, while making a more traditional game so no, the series hasn't EXACTLY been reduced to yet another FPS series.

It's got a release date!  October 9th.  I'm kind of surprised by how fast it's been since this game was announced.
