This game is hard even on the normal difficulty it's kinda a pain. How do you synthesize better items like the perfect berries? Kinda getting frustrated with this game. I really never take advantage of item creation systems in RPG's their just boring and I rather not do it but in this game it seems like almost a must.
EDIT: I'm about 17 hours in the game about to go through the desert decided to try and invent stronger weapons because the enemies became a lot stronger all of a sudden. I'm about level 22 with all characters. Whenever I go to a workshop that has smithing and go to invent something by choosing a plan every item and weapon is blacked out. So when I choose original invention it always fails even though I'm choosing the characters with the strongest smithing skill. Don't get this at all it doesn't let me modify the weapons I have.
EDIT: So are you supposed to just back out of inventing when the character makes a happy face while the quality bar is still high to synthesize a weapon from scratch or not

The Item Creation system would've been a hell of a lot better had they actually let you manually choose prices instead of randomizing it.

its fairly trivial to get to the last boss without ever synthesizing. i think you need a better grasp of the battle system. learn to chain/link your attacks/techs until enemy A dies.
And hope to god you can do so before they stunlock you to death. Fucking Moonbase.

I've been looking at FAQ's and it still isn't working....Why can't you modify swords that you already have? (bastard sword for example the most powerful weapon I found in a shop) When I choose plan every item is blacked out. On top of that when I choose a character who is strong in smithing to make a better weapon with an original plan it just fails. What the heck are you supposed to do?

You already had an SO3 topic, so I merged them... and as I recall it's entirely dependent on the price of the item. So basically you have to keep backing out and selecting whatever it was you selected just before you started synthing UNTIL you got the price of the item you wanted. Yeah, it's kind of stupid.

And even then there's always the chance for failure (mmm....1 million FOL wilted salads). If I remember correctly the only reasonable way to deal with SO3's crafting system is to go for patents then just buy whatever you need at a discounted price.

Basically. If things go bad during inventing, sometimes they get worse from there if they keep mucking up. Best to cut your losses, find better inventors, or get the item for each field of inventing that raises the % of creating and the items you can make.
