Anyone familiar with this game freezing with the music still playing and the screen being black. Keeps happening at the same spot in the beginning but their are no scratches on the disc. It happens when the scene is about to change. Playing on a PS2 if that means anything

your disk must be faulty.  try one of those scratch cleaners.

Its happening at the same spot before there is even a save point. Right when dart gets saved by that girl and they hide behind a rock from that green dragon. Then he finds out his village is attacked and as he leaves for it the screen goes black to go to the next scene and it never comes back just the music plays and the screen stays black

I know I had a problem at the *spoiler* cutscene which kept making the game crash.
I solved it by opening the disc and closing it. Eventually the game picked up and I got through it.

Yeah that part at disc 2 or whatever. I read and searched a lot into the problem. I tried that opening up and closing the disc tray maybe 4 different tries didn't work though. How many tries did it take to work just wondering

Your ps2 may be having an issue. I know some old ps1 games of mine didn't work well on my ps2 at times, like breath of fire 3. Try it on a ps1, or a different ps2 if you can (or a ps3). Otherwise idk dude, game hates you.

Yeah... if nothing happened in 4 tries, sounds like this maneuver won't help.

Typically, if it's ALWAYS happening the exact same spot then it's a problem with the disc, regardless of scratching. If it's happening in different spots then it's more likely to be an issue with the console.

I couldnt beat the game because the fourth disc was unusable (poor manufacturing) and it corrupted my save files...so yeah, F LoD.
