I might be the only man on earth that enjoyed Tetra Master more than Triple Triad. Then again, I played FFVIII when the game was already was like 6 years old and I think that really damage my entire imagine of that game at the time.

Triple Triad annoyed the fuck out of me by the end.  You either get really good cards or get cleaned out in seconds.  Some of the rules were made to screw you in the bum last minute.

using the "card" command in FF8 made deck building tedious. 

I had a complete deck and I never used the card command a single time. Pretty much just played against others who had the cards I wanted.

There is the mechanic where you pay someone to extend a regional rule to the entire world. When you are in space, you can extend the regional rule of "no rule" to everything. If you do that, the games are completely fair everywhere.
