ToP's battle system was slow as hell. Why would FPS matter?

Cause if the FPS were like....say 30-40 then the battle system would cease to be slow a'la Tales of Symphonia.

I have to pick this up soon, along with SH: FTNW. I played a little bit of it sometime ago, it was pretty fun. But yes, I worry about slowdowns. That would greatly kill the fun.

One thing I loved in ToP was the opening theme by Yukari Yoshida. I believe there were various remixed versions of it and all were good.
I'd be saddened if that opening was left out of the US version. All the other niggles I could probably live with (including a slowed down battle system since my reflexes aren't what they used to be) but I gotta have my Yukari Yoshida song in ToP.

From what I hear, the opening song has indeed been omitted. A shame, IMHO.

Opening theme has indeed been removed. They also tossed in english voices that imo put Shining Force III voice acting to shame. :l Luckily, there is an option to turn it off. Mint sounds like a freakin dude. :l Other than that the translation hasn't let me down so far. On a side note you also lose the ability to rename Cress which I found odd. As far as the framerate goes it isnt as bad as many have said it to be.

The slowdown didn't really seem like low FPS, just occasional lag similar to what a lot of people experienced with Final Fantasy IV.

*sniffle* no Yukari Yoshida opening theme?
*in best Darth Vader voice* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
mitsukete your dream.....
On the other hand, though, hasn't every Tales game released in the US removed the Japanese opening theme and replaced it with some subpar instrumental music?
Still sucks, though.

Good idea. Tales of Phantasia coming to North America = too little too late.
If they wanted it to do well they should have done a complete remake. C'mon it's what.... over 10 years old?!?!

Yes, I think if it came out here on SNES in 1994 when it was revolutionary, it would be looked upon with the same reverence normally reserved for games like Chrono trigger and Final Fantasy 3/6, and everyone would be gushing over it and such, but as it stands, it's just going to be looked upon as just another GBA RPG. Still, for those of us who played the SNES version back in the 90s, it's nice to finally have an official english translation.
