Why don't you use MediaGo? It isn't great, but you can buy and download PSP games with it on your computer.

Do you know why it won't work on the WiFi at your place? I had to change the settings on my router temporarily to get it to connect.

All it tells me is that it is incompatible with the security.  I get the same problem with the 3DS and DS I have and yet my Wii and PS3 connect with ease.

Thanks for the lead, I was unaware of that.  EDIT:  Too bad it's Windows only. :(

If it helps, I turned off the security on my router for the amount of time it took me to download this. Turned it back on right after, no problemo.

The PSP can't handle certain WPA2 key settings.  I forget the specifics since it's been a while but I went through headaches because of this too.  Sure you can disable or downgrade your security, but I like having security.  In the end I gave up and just started downloading everything on my PS3 and copying it over USB (which in a way is nicer since the PS3 can actually do other things while it downloads in the background, unlike the PSP...).  It's not like there are any PSP games I actually play online.

Fortunately the Vita does not have this problem.  It has worked with everything I've thrown it at so far.

I didn't realize I could download PSP games to the PS3 and then transfer them.  That certainly fixes the problem.  Now if only Nintendo had a set up like that with Wii and 3DS downloads...

Yeah, I think it just has to do with using old or out of date encryption or something. My 3DS works here, so I'm hoping the Vita does too, because I anticipate being online with that more often.

I don't think I'd personally go that far. I haven't seen anything that isn't a sleepily executed JRPG trope so far. Fortunately, it's not really the point of the game anyway. The combat is enjoyable and there are a lot of options, so that's keeping my interest.

Agreed, the gameplay is the best part, but I've always liked dungeon crawlers with NPC encounters and lots of backstory. That stuff was amazing in Tale of the Forsaken Land.

New reviews:

Pocketgamer: 6/10
Digitally Downloaded: 3.5/10

Any plans for RPGfan to do one? The rumor mill is churning that UFO are planning to do 2, 3, and Gothic, so hopefully more awareness of this game's borderline unacceptable QA work makes them do better next time.

Also, no one has received a response from UFO's email, myself included. I tried their facebook, but I have a feeling they'll just play dumb.

Great review. I laughed at the opening.

Needed more screens of Friend Is Call and It Uses, though. :P

I think the fact that there's a lot of dungeon variety could use some love, but beyond that I largely agree. (Wizardry PS3 had a higher budget, and it basically only had two-three dungeon designs.)

Due to a money shortage I ended up waiting on the review for this one.  Given the ridiculous amount of releases coming out early next year I'm glad I did.  I'll put my money elsewhere.

Wow.  That's only the second PSP game I'm aware of that's gotten a patch (DJ Max 3 being the first).  If only the PSP actually prompted the user that such patches existed.  I'm putting the over/under on the people who download it at 500.
