Goddammit! Beaten like a housewife by 3 seconds.
Oh well, either way this is great news due to the fact that if XSeeD can get Falcom's approval they can just simply release the PC versions of older games and not their terrible ports (I'm looking at you Gagharv Trilogy).
Also: Ys Origins. Fuck Yeah!!!

I mean do Half Life and Team Fortress users really care about JRPGs?
I wasn't aware that all steam users were simply shooter fans. Considering it is, by far, the most popular distribution service for PC games (arguably more than brick and mortar stores at this point), it's kind of silly to try and pidgeonhole its users, especially when there are examples of very popular Japanese (or Japanese-styled) games on the service.
Plus you
just pointed out those kinds of games did well
. I said ignorant instead of dumb because he genuinely could've just not known, but having several successful ones pointed out and responding with TF2 and Half Life really IS dumb of him.

All I mean is that Steam seems like a more Western game oriented market.
From what I've seen
there isn't much interest in JRPGs.
That's all. I'm not trying to make a big deal of it.

Well, as digital distribution gains more steam (HAHA ITS A PUN GET IT), and as consoles become more like PCs, expect to see more JRPGs show up.

Steam caters to more than just shooter/western game fans though, assuming Steam users are all TF2 players is about as accurate as assuming all Xbox owners are Halo fanboys.

Anyway, it's a dread that nobody knows the name for, like those little square plastic gizmos that close your bread bags. I don't know the name for those either."

What you should have seen is right there in John's post. Though to go further: Recettear sold great in a $5 5 game bundle, effectively going for $1... and it's still reliably one of the top sellers when it pops up for $5. That, and Fortune Summoners at least shot to the top place at least for a day when it popped up on Steam with sales that amazed CarpeFulgar. When they actually pop up they usually DO do well if there's at least some buzz leading up to release, and likely Ys will have similar great sales.
That, and if some forum posts are anything to go by people willing to get Japanese games on PC dwarf those willing to get games on PSP at all.

If anything, it'll be interesting to see how well the game sells on Steam. I'm hoping it sells extremely well. Hell, it'd be hot if they got ported to PSN/XBLA. I'd buy yet again.

I'm definitely interested in Ys Origin. Anyone out there play it before? Thoughts?

It's like you're in another dimension, trying to participate in a discussion happening in our dimension, and all we're getting are half-sentences.

I was looking for an Rpgfanners opinion, not a video that barely shows much of the game itself. Nice cinemas are a given with Ys games.
I've never bought anything off of Steam. I suppose I'll have to sign up. Is it free or is there a charge?

Free, it wouldn't have caught on like it did otherwise.
